We pulled into this park for a weeks stay and wish we would have booked anywhere else. This is full of permanent residents, sites are super close, not much parking, and the bathrooms leave much to be desired.

  • Safe in great location!

The resort is in a fabulous location near Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park among other attractions. The bath and laundry facilities are outdated, but functional. The roads getting to sites were more narrow than I've seen, but there were still many larger 5th wheels and trailers able to stay here. The description on their website is accurate and when you call them they give great information and are very pleasant.

Our rig fit fine, but then you add the tow vehicle and you have to park across the front and sometimes stick out into the driveway. The park has two restroom & shower facilities, one with laundry. The laundry has been redone and has digital machines. The other facility needs a good overhaul to bring it into the 21st Century. In spite of all that, this park was fine for us. Some road noise with US16 4-lane highway, but we were far enough away that it didn't bother us. The park store has a lot of staple items, well stocked, some clothing (tourist), very helpful staff & camp hosts. Power, sewer & water were all good. Their WiFi was fine, cell service ok. We didn't spend too much time in camp as we played tourist all over the place (i.e. Rushmore etc). Easy getting around Rapid City with many 4-lane streets & highways - good for provisioning supplies.

Overall the CG was ok. Tight spots, we are in a 34ft Class A with Toad. With slides out we used all the width of our site and tucked the jeep in tight a bit under one slide. Verizon signal was good. My biggest disappointment was the water spigot was literally on top of the sewer dump. I would stay here again if needed but will look for something different next time. Staff was friendly and helpful. We don't use the facilities so no comment on that. Dog friendly but no real space to walk them except the tent area which filled up the second night.

That being said I didn’t feel squished between neighbors. Each site has (shared)pavilion, fire ring, and tree. Had some issues with a large group there for the summer with noise. Management was giving them notice after multiple nights of drunken arguments and unruly children at all hours. Management was amazing friendly and helpful. Felt extremely safe.

We visited Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse museum. We have a class A motorhome and tow. The space was not level. The WiFi did not work. It rained and it made a messy mud.

  • Good for the low season, marginal for the high season

We lucked out because we were there during their low season so we didn't have to deal with this, but it would really suck to have to share a common space with random strangers. The sites are also lined up so that your view out your front window is the rear of someone else's rig. Finally, if the campground is full, it may be difficult to get in and out of some of the sites. It's just not a great design. The location is pretty good. You're about 20 minutes from Mount Rushmore and about 30 minutes from the visitor's center at Custer State Park. Rapid City is a decent sized city where you can get just about anything you need, and all of that is within a 20 minute drive. For exploring this area, the campground has a decent location. However, if we were here during the summer, we likely would have stayed at one of the campgrounds inside Custer State Park. Those are even more convenient for getting to the other big sites in the area (Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, etc.)Customer service was friendly enough and the price was good. I would just be leery of coming here when it's really busy.

  • Great spot to visit the area

Sites were a little tight to get in but had lots of room between each site. Our site had a patio and bbq pit to share with our neighbors. Mount Rushmore, Custer SP, Spearfish Canyon, and Badlands all close. Devils Tower in Wyoming about an hours drive.
