Do not follow your GPS down 16A past Keystone! Pigtails, switchbacks and low/narrow tunnels await. Use the directions from their web site. Flat sites, lots of amenities and some pretty good cinnamon rolls in the camp store. Wi-Fi was spotty.

This was a well kept family campground with a little store and a café. It has everything you would want from a full service camp. The WIFI was decent. We had no cell service (T-Mobile)The pool was shut down when we visited in late September and the laundry/shower house was about to close for renovation. We enjoyed the full hookups and the pizza from the café, but the location is the best reason to stay here.As far as the drive here, follow their directions. We missed a turn somewhere and came down a very twisty road. It was a nice drive but I would avoid it if you have a very large rig.

This place seemed to have access to all we wanted to do near Mt. Rushmore. Very nice and quiet. Bathhouse was not that great, but nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay there. The road to the campground was very curvy, so you had to drive carefully! WiFi was iffy at times.

  • Secluded, quiet, with pluses and minuses.

The WiFi worked sporadically, but most of the time didn’t. The pool is very small, only large enough to accommodate maybe 5-10 people at a time. Mini-golf was fun, and the playground was great for the kids. We encountered low voltage alerts (less than 104 volts) with our surge protector, causing it to disconnect from campground power regularly. The site was easy to back into, and the campground easy enough to navigate with our truck & trailer. The roads coming in from every direction are tight, windy and hard to see on. Driving to this campground is not for the faint of heart. You need to be sure to use their prescribed routes on the website instead of your GPS. If we were to visit the area again, we would probably find another campground that was easier to get to.

Sites are grassy but level and there are approximately 10' between sites. There are some full hookup sites but ours was W/E only, which was conveniently located and worked well. The dump station is also conveniently located and they supplied a wash out hose. There is a nice convenience store and restaurant on-location (the pizza was delicious!!). All of the camp hosts were friendly and attentive to any needs. They have a nice putt-putt golf for the kids, horseshoe pits, and a small swimming pool.Cons - The road getting to the park is not big rig friendly and IMO almost dangerous due to the hair pin curves and lack of shoulders (not the RV parks fault at all). We drove from Hwy 40 to the Playhouse Road and connected to the Iron Mountain Road. From there is was only a short half mile to the RV park. Bathrooms at the park were worn and old as well as the laundry facilities. We stayed here in a 40' MH and would not stay here again simply because of the roads to get there. We would look along Hwy 385 next time.

We were in 2 different spots- they worked to accommodate us with a last minute reservation- full hook up site dump was slightly uphill but oh well.

For 2 adults and 5 kids it would have been $42, but with the extra 2 adults it was $62 for full hook ups. We also had 3 dogs. The shower house was very clean with hot water. The laundry was in the bathrooms. It cost $2.25 per load for the washer and $2.25 for the dryer. It didn’t clean as it would at home but got the job done. There is a nice little coffee shop that is decent and prices aren’t outrageous. There is also a small pool, play ground and mini golf onsite. The location was perfect. We had to drive through Custer State Park and we seen all kinds of wild life. It definitely made the experience. All in all it was a quite family friendly camp ground. We would definitely come back in the future. It also 11 miles from Mt Rushmore. WiFi was available but it was spotty.

Wonderfull campground with beautiful the Black Hills right at your fingertips. Clean, friendly, and convenient facilities. If you have a larger rig make sure you drive in from the south on 16A or you will be in for a surprise when you hit the first tunnel.

They are very dog friendly and not like other places that confine your pets to one or two spots. They offer tent camping, RV sites (all 30 amp) and campsites. They have free put-put, a swimming pool(small but nice) , laundry, showers, visitor center, cafe, coffee, gift shop, and common outdoor areas. Their customer service is excellent. Took just a few moments to check In! Bathrooms are outdated but clean ( and cute in my opinion) The packet of rules they hand you when you check in is overwhelming but all common sense stuff. No service or minimal service but they offer free WiFi that works until it gets overly crowded in the park! The road is known for its curves and steep grades but a 40 ft Class A with tow vehicle made it so most have no problems. Campsite is 10 miles from rushmore and about 5 from Keystone. Family friendly and pet friendly! Owners are awesome, I will be back!

We stayed for a few days during a loop through SD. Great location right outside Custer State Park. Beautiful scenery, clean park, friendly staff. They have a shower house, laundry, pool and convenience store. Very family oriented place. You will have to take it slow the last few miles. The roads are pretty curved, but worth the trip.

It was relatively easy to get to Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Keystone, and Crazy Horse. Pool & putt-putt, as well as a cafe and store are on the premises; there's even a mountain you can climb to get a glimpse (take your binoculars!) of Mt. Rushmore. Clean restrooms/shower house along with extremely friendly employees who will give fantastic suggestions of things to see in the area.At our site, the cell service wasn't great; we were able to send/receive texts but not calls. There is wi-fi; during the week (when there weren't as many people) we were able to get it pretty reliable, but needed to go to the store/office when a lot of people were there. We just wish we lived closer so we could go back!
