It had some very cool cabins that took us a bit to realize they were cabins, since they looked like an old western town - jail, school, etc. The pool was brand spanking new. They took the plastic off the lounges the day we got there. There was a great coffee and ice cream truck there our entire 3 night stay.We were there Memorial Day weekend for a wedding in Gettysburg and the place was packed - but everyone was very respectful and we didn't hear much noise at all well before even quiet time.We had a site in the far back park of the campground. It was a bit of a trek to get there and with only a single lane there, it seemed to take forever with all of the people coming and going (trucks, golf carts, walking, bikes, etc). The sites were VERY tight, especially in the front of the park, only a little better in the back. Our biggest issue was that there wasn't a path to the bathrooms. There were a lot of people in tents and most of them walked through our site or our neighbors to get to the bathrooms. Honestly, I don't blame them and they were all very polite and luckily we weren't there to hang out much, but they scared me (accidentally) when they were walking through at night.

Easy to get to, roads seem narrow once inside, we have a 20ft so we didn’t have any issues but we could see where larger rigs could. It rained a lot during our stay, our site drained well but we could see others that didn’t. Our site by chance was one of the nicer ones, had a few trees for shade, most sites are bare. Only real complaint is the sites seem to be very close to each other. Our neighbors fire ring was about 5ft from our window, thankfully no one was there to use it. The staff was friendly and the bathhouse was very clean. Also each site has a picnic table and fire ring. It’s also a horse park, not many out at the moment but assume that’s a nice perk for some who like to watch horses.

  • Nice place. Close to battlefield. Great for horses!

It's not the greatest, but it is nice. I don't think any gravel pad will be exactly level. These were close. Driving around I did see some pads that need work. But, every campground I've been to have had that issue. As others have mentioned; walk across the road and you're on the battlefield. One of the best things is this place is that it's right next to National Riding Stable which is a horse rescue. All the horses here have been rescued from abuse/neglect. National Riding Stable also offers a horseback tour of the battlefield. The horses for our tour were very well trained, gentle, and easy to ride even for the beginning rider. The guide was very knowledgeable of the battle and good at her job. The tour was a very enjoyable experience. If you like camping with your horse, this is the PERFECT place. They offer covered stalls, single, double, triple, and quad horse corrals, round pen, and fenced arena. This place was built from the ground up with equestrians in mind. The only real downside to this park is the "seasonal" campers. Some of them look like they haven't moved in several years. Some are a little run down. That does, slightly, detract from the atmosphere. One other thing lacking at this site that I've seen at other places are "buddy sites". Where one camper pulls in one way and another pulls in the opposite way so you share a common area. So, even if you're camping side by side with friends, one of you is looking at the back of the other person's camper. ...........PS If you're using your GPS to navigate here and it tells you to exit onto Baltimore Pike, DON'T do it! Granite Schoolhouse Lane is very narrow. Take the Tanneytown Road (rt 134) exit instead.

  • Nice park, right on the battlefields.

Certainly worth the price of you all me.20, 30 and 50 Amp outlets with no wiring issues on my pedestal, water pressure is good, wifi is slow at a full signal, sewer hookup and the lot I was on its fairly level. Some have complained about uneven lots, my suggestion would be carry more equipment to level with, if you don't, well shame on you.I would come back again..

There rate is higher then anyone in the area and now it’s to late to book elsewhere. Some of the lots are small and it’s nit safe to use the fire rings as they would be to close to your camper or the next camper. In the area we had the stoned the areas to park the camper but when you get down your steps the grass area is a lot lower then your steps with a deep slope.

The good points were that the staff was friendly and it is right down the street from the Gettysburg Military Park. That's about it. The sites were extremely un-level, and not because of the rain that had been going on before and during our stay. The gravel pads were in desperate need of filing and grading (which we saw a truck come in and service two pads, but they need to do all of them). On top of the gravel sites been uneven, the grass around them was so patchy, it was hardly grass anymore - just mud. We had such a swamp at our site, we had to use our RV rug just to keep from getting stuck in the mud as we walked to and from our rig. When the gravel truck came through, we asked the maintenance guy if he could take some of the new gravel and shovel it in front of our door, to help with our situation, and he refused to do so. The roads are EXTREMELY narrow! Our rig was on an end site, and we cringed every time someone came in or out, thinking they would clip our rig. The poor guy next to us did get his truck side swiped by a camper coming in. The amenities they offer are not much more than any other RV park we have ever been to, yet they charge twice as much. Small laundry room with old machines, a pathetic putt-putt course, a pond that looked like West Nile Virus was born there, trash bins overflowing, mud every where, and since it's a horse camp, you can imagine what was all over the ground. They give you a couple free tourist spot passes, but I would have rather paid a lesser price and chose the activities I wanted to pay for, instead. It's also a seasonal campers spot... meaning people park their trailers there all year round, and come on the weekends. Most of the seasonal rigs are in desperate need of cleaning and yard work. If the park managers allow their seasonal sites to look this way, you can imagine how they just don't care about the park overall. We don't recommend this camp, and we will not be back. Sorry, no pics. We didn't want to be there, so I never thought of pulling out the camera.

I was able to get a site with my Passport America membership with only a day's advanced notice, but I imagine in summer it would have been much harder. The campground is a mix of nightly and seasonal sites, some of the latter in dire shape. Staff is friendly and the store is large and well stocked. The Passport America sites are a cluster of open, uneven sites close to the horse stables. It was ok for my little campervan, though I would have been grateful for a little shade. The other, full price sites look nicer.Decent cell service and quiet neighbors.

The rate listed is full price nightly, we were Passport America so we paid half price for the Sunday thru Thursday. Site was gravel/grass and in our loop the sites are not well defined but do have numbered utility posts. And sites were a little close together. FHU's and level, clean bathrooms and showers, with lots of family activities in the park. Fairly clean park, if you can overlook the land mines left by our equine campers. Great base for your Gettysburg experience. The main knock is we got a big rain our last night and into our checkout day, which created a nasty swampy mess of our site.

A 5 min drive has you in the heart of American history with the National Park Centre 1 mile away. You can either self drive the battle sites or go with a guide. An audio disk of the self drive is available from the park service. We are a member of Passport America and at the park you can stay 3 days at the 50% rate. It was quite a drive from the entrance of the park to the area we were allocated. The area where they put PA members I would describe as an old horse paddock with hook ups installed. When we were there it rained and the area became a mud hole and even driving in & out we did use 4wd. When we wanted to leave we had to get the person next door to move his rig because of the layout of the area. The camp also has a lot of permanents there.Full Hook up.30 & 50 amp.Internet is available but not at the site as you had to go to the front of the park. It was so slow that getting anything down was a miracle.Water pressure was good.
