I had an amazing stay at Sunset RV Park with my 2 fur babies. Custer is a small quaint town and I wouldn’t stay at any other campground if I return! Tami and Bill are excellent hosts! I recommend them for short or long stays! I stayed in the Fall, Winter, and Spring.

We Love this area and this park is perfect! It's small with 9 sites. We were lucky and got the "wooded site" by far the best site there. Last time we stayed in site 2. The hosts are AMAZING People!

  • Quiet, great owners, convenient to downtown Custer

Hard packed gravel with hookups located close to the connection points on the coach. Short runs for power, water and sewage. It is adults only, no kids allowed. Also no showers or restroom facilities, so no tent camping. You have to be self-contained. A quick couple of miles north and you're in downtown Custer. Very little highway noise can be heard making this a nice, quiet place to watch the stars at night. The park has its own WiFi, but we never used it. We had ample cellular data for our AT&T hotspot. T-Mobile on our Consumer Cellular phones seemed weak, but using WiFi calling eliminated that problem. In town we had strong T-Mobile LTE on our phones. I honestly can't think of anything negative about this park.

We enjoyed every minute relaxing, watching the deer run around the grounds at dusk and have communal fires in their great fire pit getting to meet all our fantastic neighbors! Great wifi, nice back in sites, and perfect location to exploring the black hills, especially Custer and a Custer State Park! Highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit this area.

It's well off the highway so it's quiet, Bill keeps the park well manicured. Tami and Bill checked on us almost everyday to make sure everything was ok. All the Hook-ups worked with no problems. The 9 total sites are well situated for privacy with plenty of space between each site. No sardine can KOA here. There's grass everywhere except the level, gravel spots for your RV. A few of the newer sites have shade trees but with AC in our travel trailer the heat was no problem. The park is only a few minutes south of Custer and centrally located to all the recreation of the Black Hills. I'd recommend Bill and Tami's RV park to anyone that wants a no-frills, clean place to stay near Custer. It is a head and shoulders better value than any other RV park in the area. If you're travelling with little two legged monsters, i.e. children and need amenities that you probably won't use, this park is not for you. If you want a quiet, clean, easy in and out place to stay with good cell service and strong internet, this is it.

Tami and Bill were great, very communicative by both email and text, and they came to greet us once we parked. Only four people there when we arrived, we were there to ride the Mickelson trail. The weather was not totally cooperative, we ended up staying a few days extra in the hopes it would clear up. Trail access is just across the highway, and Custer is within 3 miles with ample services and dining options. Cell signal was strong, their wifi was somewhat reliable, when it worked it worked well, and then it wouldn’t. Would stay again if in the area.

If you are looking to be in an RV park that isn’t next to the highway and has open space, then Sunset RV is the place you wanna be. We stayed a week to see all the sights, thus Our weekly rate was $249.50. Tami and Bill are great friendly hosts who even set up a group campfire with all the s’mores fixings.

Small RV Park, 5 sites total, just opened in June 2020. Everything was great. Issues with site gravel to be addressed. Close to all destination sites... Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Mammoth at Hot Springs and small towns with shop. The owners are great folks. Adult and Retiree sites only... quiet and peaceful.

Camp hosts were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Easy access to the Mickelson Trail, you can ride it all the way into Custer. Sites had full hook-ups and picnic tables. There is a community fire pit in the middle of the park not far from any of the sites. We used it a few times to cook, also if you start a fire, chances are your neighbors will come over and visit with you. Great little spot for base camp to explore the Black Hills and work from.

Great location, easy access to the Mickelson Trail. Very quiet setting in a large meadow. Just a few minutes south of Custer, with easy access to the town and the state park. Camp hosts are very nice and helpful. This is a brand new RV park, small and well manicured.
