This was the perfect disconnect we needed. Campground is very well taken care of, right on the river, great staff, and community. There is a ‘seasonal’ section where locals have their campers parked for the season. Everyone knows everyone and is treated like a friend. They had a walking poker night and trick or treating since this was the last weekend before the season ends. No service of any kind without the wifi(costs additional). They run shuttles to river drop off points. We tubed the river and it was amazing. We saw bald eagles! The nearest town for gas and groceries is 15 miles (Waukon). Laundry on site for $1.50/load. Office has food, games and trinkets for sale. Shower house is ok; not great, not awful. The pool is a spring fed pond. Kids loved it.
