Our campsite was right by the river and it had lot's of shade. The back-in gravel pad was fairly level, and our trailer only needed minor leveling. The sites have power, but no water or sewer. There's a dump station, and water is available close to the campground entrance. T-Mobile cellphone service was non-existent. The campground WiFi did not reliably reach our campsite, but the signal was strong on the picnic tables close to the office. The campsite owners live in the premises and are very friendly and helpful. The Dayville area in beautiful in May. There are some awesome, scenic roads in the area that we enjoyed riding our motorcycles on.

Scenic, clean, great host. Backed in right to the river. Great central place for base to explore all the amazing places of the area. No cell. Only electricity at sight. But had water and dump on sight. I would normally downgrade because of this, but the host, the cleanliness, and the beautiful spot on the river more than compensated!
Nice surprise!

Enjoyed this small, scenic RV spot. Beautiful sites along the creek, among lovely cottonwood trees. Very quiet, no road noise, WiFi included. Clean, heated bathroom with shower!Would definitely return. Close to John Day National Monument.

They are either nicer outside slots , or in the middle of the grassy field (where we were in #1). Watering the green grass by sprinklers goes on 24/7 here. The owner was just ok, not very friendly. The park is kept up but there are a few abandoned small travel trailers here and there. Since this park is in the actual small town of Dayville we walked the 2 minutes into town often. The bathrooms have 1 shower stall, 1 potty stall, and 1 sink area...But it is a small park so I had no problems getting in when I wanted. During mid week, late Sept, there were only Rvs here , no tents. And no children so I can't imagine what summer camping would look like here.
Like staying at someone’s farm

Down to earth guys, very friendly and enjoyed conversation with them. Knowledgeable of the area. The town itself had a café with a great menu, though the food was just average. Also a gas station with diesel fuel and a little market where I actually was Able to buy fresh vegetables.Would definitely frequent this place if it wasn’t 500 miles away from where I live.
Excellent!

Creek behind the campsites was a big hit with the kids - especially because of the frogs and crawdads. Perfect for day trips to John Day Fossil Beds (Sheep Rock). Across the street is excellent ice cream and walking distance to cafe and market. Sites have 30 amp. No water at site but water when you pull-in so no issues. Also has disposal when you leave. Highly recommended.
Outstanding base to explore the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument.

Call ahead for reservations. 30 amp hookups, water and sewer services are available at this campground, just not at each site. The town of Dayville was pleasant and helpful. Do not expect the only gas station to provide service, several miles away in Mount Vernon is a reliable source of fuel. The campground owner is on site and working to expand additional sites. The John Day Monument is spread out over a large amount of real estate so plan accordingly. The Monument is outstanding and worth seeing. We went during 4th of July so it was hot, the park has lots of shade and the John Day river flows next to the campground. Great place to camp, will do it again.

It is an easy walk to the Dayville mercantile store, café and gas station. The park is located on the South Fork of the John Day River. The river is more like a fast flowing creek. It is approximately 20 feet wide.Access - The RV Park entrance is at the Dayville City Park. The office is located in an old church building on the property. The owner also lives here.Cleanliness - The park is clean with nice newer showers.Site Quality - A phrase that comes to mind when describing the sites is "mixed-bag". There are electrical connections for sites 3 - 6, but they are only 20 amp. The electrical outlets are located near the front of the sites. It took the full length of our 25 foot cord to reach the electrical outlet. There is a single electrical pedestal near sites 7 - 10, but a long extension cord is needed to reach it. There is a dump station and potable water at the office, but no water or sewer at the sites. Sites 3 - 6 are right on the river, but branches from the large trees hang down to the ground and obscure views of the water. The trees do provide nice shade coverage through most of the day. The parking pads are gravel and mostly level. Sites 7 - 9 are located off of the river in a mostly sunny area. Site 10 is off of the water but does have shade. There are nice picnic tables at each site. Rock fire rings are located at each site, but fires are not allowed in this area during much of the summer. I don't remember seeing sites 1 or 2. The best site is site 6.Noise - There was minimal road noise from Hwy. 26. There is pleasant noise from the river and there are lots of birds in the area.
