Had to leave a message but they called back within half hour with space. All spaces are pull through. Park is right next to highway, but we didn’t hear noise. Staff was very nice. A little more crowded than we prefer so I gave it 4 stars, but very acceptable. Their internet codes didn’t work worth a darn, but we had cell service so just used hot spot. I paid for the extra unlimited data, $2, couldn’t get it to work but it was pouring rain so I didn’t try to go get assistance. They had cable TV.

All of the showers, restrooms and laundry room were sparkling clean all the time and the community trash cans were emptied daily. All the spaces are pull-through and roomy with lots of trees. They went out of their way to accommodate us when we unexpectedly needed to extend our stay. Another nice feature is a number of easy trails adjacent to the property that are available to walkers, bikers and atv's. It is easily accessible from US 97 but we didn't hear much traffic noise.

Check in was easy and we were escorted to pull through site 41 with FHUs for our three days stay. A nice touch was at check in we were provided a local area magazine with really good info concerning sights to see and places to eat. We were also provided free daily WiFi vouchers for our stay but you can only log in with one device. We thought our Weingard Connect would be able to connect then we could use multiple devices but couldn't get it to connect. You can purchase more vouchers for more devices and upgrade your speed. The free WiFi was about average for this size campground (CG). We actually applaud campgrounds taking more control over the WiFi with one device logins as our last three CGs had no controls resulting in useless or very spotty WiFi. We got 2 bars on Verizon and 30 cable stations. You do get some highway noise but its not too bad. There’s a small pet area that is not fenced. However, there’s an OHV trail system out the CG's north side where we walked our pups. There are nearby restaurants with the nearest grocery stores in La Pine about 15 min away or you can drive to Bend about 45 minutes for major amenities. This is a well run CG and great base to explore the area.

The gravel site was rutted to the point where we had to get out leveling blocks and it is right next to highway 97 so there is lots of traffic noise. The main attraction seems to be ATV trails that are accessible right from the park and judging by the number of high-end ATVs and dirt bikes we saw in the park, they must be great. Since we do trails on foot, it wasn't that fun for us and we would rather be able to sleep at night.

Big Pines had monthly availability thanks to our small rig as summer months are very popular for RVers in the area. The owners are very friendly and keep the park well maintained and clean. Behind the park is forest and miles of dirt roads to walk or ride. Dollar General is about a mile north and Gilchrist has a small market for supplies. It's a very quiet area at and road noise is minimal. The stars are spectacular on moonless nights. The park is situated between Crater Lake and Bend if you only want to stay in one spot to explore the area.We would have stayed longer but things fell through for our home search and it seemed it was just time to move on after wildfiregeddon became a problem. We will stay here again when we're in the area.

Bruce & Donna host & run this park extremely well and we lacked for nothing. All level pull through sites, most with full hookup. Every one I talked to that worked here was SUPER friendly, from calling to make the reservation to checking and just running into them around the camp. I felt very welcomed here!Access was very simple. It is right on hwy 97.Location is close to Bend and Crater Lake. I was just using it to get clean and do laundry between boondocking spots, so it worked great for that!Cleanliness was above and beyond. The laundry room was spotless as were the shower houses.Site quality was very good, especially for a RV park. Each site had big pines between them, grass, a picnic table and a fire pit. While they are close together, it didn't seem that bad. This is not just another parking lot RV park.Noise within the park was fine, but with the windows open you could hear the traffic on hwy 97, and I had one of the spots farthest away from the highway. They are doing a lot of work adding sites onto the park, so during the day there are some construction noises, but nothing that horrendous. It should be done summer of 2018.

Big Pines is a relaxed, comfortable RV Park with well-kept amenities. Bruce, the owner, was a gracious host and helped make our stay all the more enjoyable. We took advantage of the scenic and nearby Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway with our road bikes. There are also unpaved trails for running or biking directly behind the park but we did encounter mosquitoes when we first arrived in late May and early June.We supplemented our groceries shopping at the Gilchrist Grocery and Deli but did the bulk or our shopping in Bend (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Costco) and Ray's in La Pine. La Pine also has the Cinco de Mayo Mexican and Los Tres Caballos Mexican restaurants (yes we like Mexican food). It was hard to pass by Wickiup Junction and not stop in for the enticing, fragrant, just made donuts. We enjoyed the park's location between Crater Lake National Park and Bend. We attended the Newberry Event festival in nearby Newberry as well as the Bite of Bend and Summerfest in Bend. Our Brandi Carlisle concert at the Les Schwab Amphitheater was a highlight. We also rode the striking Twin Bridges bike route in Bend and my girlfriend ran in the Sunriver and Crater Lake half marathons.Big Pines turned out to be a great choice for us, with reliable utilities, reasonable rates and a nice ambience. Traffic noise from nearby Hwy 97 was minimal and laundry was available onsite (although not all machines were available due to rough treatment). Wi fi was a little sketchy at times but our Verizon signal was strong.I'd definitely recommend staying at Big Pines on your travels through central / southern Oregon and don't miss Crater Lake National Park, which you can access from Big Pines through the North entrance … as soon as it is clear of snow!

Overall a nice park that is well maintained with lots of, you know, big pines. The owner was seen every day attending to some landscaping detail or another. He is also very congenial. The sites are oddly placed which is actually an attribute as it enables more privacy. Our site was gravel, very long and easily made a temporary home for our 45 foot motorhome. We had a nice big "yard" with a picnic table and fire pit. We were also able to hang a newly purchased hammock between two trees :) The only dings are the inconsistent WII FI (in our spot anyway) and the noise from US 97. We would stay here again.
