I would stay here when in Coos Bay again.

Well planned out RV resort with good sized spaces and amenities. Great for dogs as the beach is right there and can let them off leash while on beach. Dog bags throughout, although no fenced dog run unfortunately. Clean and well maintained facilities. Food truck there on weekends.

  • Peaceful and a great view.

It’s pretty awesome to text for firewood and it shows up at your site - same for a nice bottle of wine. Of course those things cost money and we don’t do that often but sometimes it’s very much appreciated. It’s a large site, we arrived mid week and it was maybe half full if that and super quiet. By Labor Day weekend it was full as one would expect but still mostly pretty quiet. WiFi looked promising but with the park full wasn’t too useful; we used our cell phones but the cell data rates weren’t a lot better. We camped in the bay front spaces which are the most expensive but there’s not a bad view to be had. Being at the edge of the beach was a bonus for our dog as she loved playing in the water off leash and walking way out onto the sand at low tide. Clams are available and saw folks digging them up at the lowest tides. The park itself is an old mill site and pretty open and a bit stark in that regard.

What is up with that? There is a large check-in area for several RVs; however, there is no sign indicating where the office is. Again, what is up with that? We called a couple days before our arrival to see if we could check-in early as we only had an hour drive. Answer was a definite maybe. We arrived at 12:20 and were told that check-in was 1. So we asked if our site was ready, and the immediate answer was no. We could go hang out in the RV or check out the park, and they would text us. So we went back to our RVs and had lunch. 1:00 came and went and no text. Back to the office we go. Oh sorry, we forgot. We think they are just stickler for the 1:00 check-in as we watched what they did when someone left a site. They checked that the electric was off and removed any leftover firewood – took all of two minutes. Good grief. There is no landscaping per se – just dried up grass with weedy flowers when we were there. The entrance and check-in area are paved, and the interior roads and sites gravel. Unfortunately, this led to dusty vehicles as people routinely drove much faster than 5 mph (not enforced). The sites are narrow with decent spacing but no privacy. Our site was mostly level and long enough for our 45er and toad. For me, the waterfront sites are not worth the price. Same gravel sites and dried up grass with a better view although some are blocked by trees. We had a nice view of the bay out our driver’s side windows even though we were in the 2nd to last spot on a row. Generally foggy in the morning with clearing usually by 11. It can get pretty darn stinky at low tide. It’s a busy place with people coming and going but it’s fairly quiet at night. WII FI works decently, and satellite would not be a problem. They have cable but we didn’t try it. Verizon was 4g 2-3 bars and could be sketchy. They also rent cabins and airstreams – at a pretty hefty price. The state parks nearby have several pretty and accessible beach areas as well as an easy, yet amazing, hiking trail along the ocean. Tons of seals barking and lounging around on Simpson reef. We even spotted a whale! Plenty of shopping in town with Walmart about 5 miles away. Be prepared for homeless camps and beggars.

Check in was a breeze and we proceeded to back-in, bay front site 16. Backing in was easy as there is plenty of road width to maneuver. The bay front sites are larger than the interior sites and better spaced than similar sized resorts, but I wouldn’t call them spacious like you can find at state parks or COEs. The park was pretty much full everyday during our stay so WiFi was stressed and spotty during morning and late afternoon timeframes. We got 3 bars on Verizon, but sometimes we did not get internet through our MiFi and phone hotspots. The laundry facilities were very nice with credit card payment versus quarters. The staff was very helpful and there are plenty of resort amenities like a gym and pool, which we didn’t use. Great views of the bay to include occasional large vessels passing by. It was nice to be able to let our pups off leash on the beach. At the time we stayed in late July the bay often had a bad sulfur smell. Check out Vinny’s Smokin’ Good Burgers and Sandwiches in North Bend, OR. Really good food, especially their burgers. They also serve breakfast. Quaint little place with a few tables indoors and a couple more outdoors. There is plenty to do and see in the area. We enjoyed our two weeks at Bay Point Landing but due to location and cost this was a one time stay.

Baypoint Landing was our half way point on a 3 month tour. Clean and reasonably priced laundry ($2.50 each for wash/dry), warm indoor pool, kids den with games and toys that kept my 5 and 7 year old busy, small well kept playground, clean showers with shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied. I could go on. Yes, the spots are a bit tight (but better than the average RV resort). Coos Bay lacked some of the charm other coastal towns have, but we weren’t really there to do anything but relax at the resort. Mission accomplished.

We would definitely stay here again.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and give a lot of good information at check in. Roads throughout the park are wide, leaving plenty of room for backing in and the sites are well spaced. Level, gravel sites with cinder-block fire pits, grass pavers for a patio and a large grassy area. You can walk your (friendly, behaved) dogs off leash on the beach and watch locals and tourists digging for clams. We never got to use the pool because every time we tried it was crowded with kids. Maybe they'll add adult-only hours in the future? ;)The park WIFI is really good; good enough to watch streaming channels with few drops/buffering. Both Verizon & AT&T cell signal averaged 2-3 bars. Overall great park that treats its visitors really well. A note on the weather: This is the Oregon coast and it's windy (and even a little chilly in June & July). The majority of the time we've been here the wind averages 15-20mph daily. It seems to come out of the north for the most part so maybe consider getting a south-facing site to get a little protection from the wind, or to be able to use your awning.

The not-so-good: The Airstreams all have issues/problems. We had to move our family member 4 times due to furnace problems. That got to be a hassle. Also, was surprised at the limited shower space for such a large park. The bathroom/shower/laundry building has 4 shower rooms, which include a sink and toilet. Once those are occupied, that's it, except for a single restroom with one shower next to the small gym room. One Peloton, two ellipticals, no weights. And, in my opinion, it's pricey, and they charge a daily lock fee if you want to pick your site. There are so many nice RV parks along the coast in Oregon, that I'd try another next time. Have to admit, except for the convenience of hook-ups, I'm a boondock dude.
