During our stay at Pacific City Thousand Trails we could walk to the beach from the campsite. In this video, we give you a tour of campground amenities and show you some of the best campsites. We also show you a few favorite things to do in the local area to include a local state park with spectacular panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Oregon coast. Cellular service for Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile were spotty to nonexistent depending on the time of day and were not adequate for streaming or uploading video during our stay.

There are so many positive things about this campground but you have to come with appropriate expectations. First of all, before you drive your camper in to find a site, disconnect your car if possible and scope it out. The roads are indeed very narrow in places and not in the best of repair. You should figure out the best route to your campsite to avoid problems. There are some pretty tight turns but if we can make it with our 40ft Class A, it can be done without drama or damage. Go slow and be vigilant. There are a lot of loops and they are each a bit different. The A loop is first and would be good for groups or if you don't want to chance the roads deeper in the park. The sites are in the forest and quite lovely. The G loop is up on the hill and some sites have stunning ocean views. Like ours! G19 which we found out is a very coveted site. I'll try to add photos. G19 fit our 40ft Class A with no problem though you need to be careful backing in (we easily had room for our SUV). The site has a lot foliage and is very private with a fire pit and great places to sit and watch the jaw dropping sunsets. G18 next door has the same jaw dropping views but is a bit shorter. We thought we might have wiggled in. Just below those sites, G24 has a beautiful ocean view but there is a permanent neighbor (I didn't think it would be any problem). G25 is right across the road and you can get a pretty good view of the coast. Since these sites are on the hill, we got intermittent text messages without a cell booster. We are having one installed this week and think we would've done ok if we'd had it. The problem is you can get small bits of data (like texts) but can't get anything more like downloading an email. Forget about looking at web sites. The lodge is just up the road and I did fine there with internet/Wifi. I had to take my laptop up there to work which wasn't great but it was worth it. The sites up in Gloop do not have a sewer hook up. We were ok with that as we wanted that incredible view. No cell coverage in the other loops. Gotta either jump on Wifi at the lodge or the welcome center. Or go into town. I got signals on the beach too. Not quite as reliable. C-loop is close to the beach trail and there are two sites, C15 & C14 that have views. Lastly F54 has a coastal view. The getaway cabins looked like they have great coastal views. Here's the message - those sites have the BEST views in the park but most of the campsites have a lot of foliage and that creates privacy. And they are beautiful, don't worry. We didn't use the amenities because they are still closed due to COVID. Things looked a bit run down as many have noted. We didn't use the bathrooms at all so can't comment. Now for the most important part...our pups. We have 2 labradoodles and they are in charge of all plans. If the place isn't good for them, we leave. Period. So here is good info: they had a BLAST. We took them to the beach everyday. We ended up liking the beach in Tiera del Mar which is just a mile or two down the road. You can drive onto the beaches around here. The sand is soft and the beaches are so wide. We had so much room to throw balls and run, run, run. Didn't find any poop left behind. It gets busy on the weekend but even then, everyone is having a great time and we had plenty of room. The beach just below the campground is great too. You can drive onto that beach but don't unless you have a 4WD because the road down is rocks and it's narrow. You don't want a car that sites low to the ground. But the good news is there is a parking lot before it gets dicey. Or just walk down. The beach in town is beautiful but obviously busier. The coast is beautiful all the way. So many places to stop and take it all in. Pacific City is a funky little beach town. Avoid weekends as there is a paucity of parking. Go to restaurant "Grateful Bread" which is in the part of town close to the airport. Everything is delicious. Owner/staff sooooo nice. They serve breakfast and lunch. Internet is so so there. Baked goods are yum. My hubs said the smoked salmon omelette/scramble was excellent. They smoke their own salmon there! If you want to get fabulous sea food to cook at your campsite, tootle over to Lincoln City and go to Barnacle Bill's. It's excellent in every way. The salmon will make you a happy person for sure. This is a long review because we really enjoyed this place and hope this information will help you get the most our of your visit. I would definitely go back. If you love the outdoors, the coast, the beach, this is a great location. Great places to hike and be in nature as they say.

While I wanted to go through Seaside and down the 101 highway, seems that all the map apps wanted us to go a different route. We took highway 6 westward to Tillamook. The road was choppy, bumpy and full of dips - a definite hazard when you're pulling an RV. It ended up being just over 4 hours drive time. We were very relieved to just get there. Just before the turn to the RV park, there was a large section of public beach approximately 1/2 mile long. There were cars parked up and down the road on both sides, barely leaving room for traffic to move both directions. Check in was fairly smooth. When asked about what sites were the most popular, she said its full so we might want to take what we find as it is first come at all Thousand Trails. As you'd expect, the upper sites are in the trees and the lower section has ocean views. We picked campsite C-13 which had great views over the top of a neighboring site's RV. The site was a little on the small side. We had to park the truck almost perpendicular to the camper. The site was fairly close to the trail to the beach. This trail crossed the road and meandered down to a public accessible beach which was not too crowded and pleasant. The site was on a somewhat busy road that led to the exit from the lower loops. We didn't mind it much. Might not be great for kids though as we were on a blind corner. Much of the amenities were closed for COVID. Some sites were labeled no water or no electricity and one even warned of bees. Those kinds of things need to be addressed rather than labelled. Also notable was the state of disrepair of the stairs up to the pool. In the end, our opinion was the positives outweigh the negatives. One of the two nights we had a swarm of gnats or other small flying insects. They were not biting, just really annoying and they stuck around for a few hours - inconveniently enough, right around dinner. We ended up eating in the RV.Pacific City/Cape Kiwanda to the south had a few restaurants and other attractions but was very busy and only had a two lane road in and out of town. Tillamook and some other options to the north are around 20 minutes but worth the trip. We spent a day in Tillamook exploring, and that didn't even include the Cape Mears Lighthouse or any of the other state parks in the area. Our final review of this park. We will be back. We left thinking that we needed up to a week or so to explore around the area. The layout of the park was great. So many sites with views and if you wanted some shade, you pick a site near the entrance. The restrooms were clean and showers available to save your gray water tank. The only drawback we noticed was the car traffic and tight road in the RV park. Cars were constantly moving about the park until just after sunset. It could be that we were on a major roadway. Anyway - if you get the chance, definitely visit Pacific City Thousand Trails RV park.

We stay three nights from September 27th through September 30th, 2019, in campsite D15, the stay was free due to our Thousand Trails membership. Our site had electricity and water hook up. The site was level and backed up to McPhillips Drive, we could hear vehicles passing during the day, however, the night was not an issue. The site was quiet and very private. The tall trees and bushes separated us from our camping neighbors. No Tmobile service while at the campground, so we had to drive a mile down road to Pacific City to make a call. The campground is at an elevation of 75 ft. and our 28 ft travel trailer easily fits with room to spare in our site. Once we entering the campground, the campground roads are all asphalt as we selected our campsite. The weather was high overcast in the low 60's, the nights low 40s. It did rain hard on Friday and Saturday night, also rained Sunday afternoon. This is a very quiet campground, activities we found at the campground to keep busy were Billiards, a very nice indoor pool, and a warm outdoor spa. The campground has clean free showers, plenty of hot water and not more than a 5 minute walk from our campsite. Since we arrived on a Friday school day, the campground as not full, there was no waiting for showers. My wife and I enjoyed the campground, we hiked at Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda. Had a great time, we will be back to stay at this Thousand Trails.

We got a perfect spot by cruising the full hookup sites until we found a family that was just leaving a secluded, shady spot right next to bathrooms and a dumpster. NO PROBLEM. On Friday the dumpster was serviced and that was the only time we were made aware of its presence. This is an older park in need of some TLC. Some hookup pedestals are out of service and only a portion of the sites are full hookups. At our site the water pressure was very good and the electricity was problem-free. It's a big park with hundreds of sites but we were delighted by the feeling of privacy. For fresh fruit, sweet corn and delicious desserts, Chester's market in Pacific City is perfect. They have a little of a lot of things including a very nice deli. We're so glad we have a Thousand Trails membership! The campers and staff were very nice and made us feel quite welcome.

The roads are very narrow making it hard to pull your rig around tight corners. As always they advertise full hook ups but most are taken with permanent residence. They claim that it’s dog friendly but there isn’t any dog parks so you are forced to walk your dog in the streets and dodge the traffic. We did find a little grass but it was full of stickers that are similar to sand spurs. The weekend we were there they closed down a dump station, a bathroom and an entire section on sites because there wasn’t any electric. If you rely on cell service forget it. You have to drive to the next town. No cable or tv and the store was even closed. Come on people this is camping season. Half the washers and dryers were broke and when I tried to get change they only had 2 quarters! Like I said in the beginning this could be a great park to stay at if some money and work were put into it. It’s walking distance to a beautiful beach and great trails to walk.
