We enjoyed our stay at Thousand Trails Bend-Sunriver. The campground has a unique western theme and the campsites are spacious. For Thousand Trails Members, Thousand Trails Bend-Sunriver offers very attractive Getaway cabins. In this video, we provide a walking tour of the campground and it’s amenities. The highlight of our stay was a day trip to a bucket list destination, Crater Lake National Park. Verizon cellular service clocked in at 19.7 Mbps download speed and 1.13 Mbps upload speed. AT&T cellular service clocked in at 41.0 Mbps download speed and 1.35 Mbps upload speed. T-Mobile cellular service clocked in at 14.6 Mbps download speed and 1.84 Mbps upload speed.

The front desk person was nice. A walk near the river was nice where the tent sites are.We most likely will not stay here again.

The unexpected reality was ALL TT resorts are First Come First Serve, no reserved spots. The majority of sites here are only 30amp. So if your staying awhile, the game to play is to get on your bike or in your car and cruise the grounds just before checkout to see what sites are opening up. We did this and scored a great 50amp site with lots of room. Downside of course is moving sites. The whole area is treed, so no chance of satellite. Cell was also very weak. All activities were closed. About 20 min south of Bend.

Due to COVID the store and pool were not open. Still had nice access to the river. Site selection is first-come and you just drive around until you find a spot you like. We probably should have parked our rig and walked or biked around until we decided on a spot. Instead, we drove around (slowly because there are lots of speed bumps) and settled on the first spot we thought looked good enough. The site we chose turned out to be very dusty and later we saw sites that were more grassy.

The first (and longest) stay was in the summer of 2017 in our 36' Class A motorhome, just before the Total Solar Eclipse. Subsequent stays have been less than a week each, with our most recent stay (in our 40' motorhome) being September 2019. We saw plenty of large fifth wheels and motorhomes, so we could say this campground is big rig friendly, but not ALL campsites. We really like this area and campground. Internal gravel roads with over 300 RV sites – quite large and fairly well maintained. After our most recent visit, it had been raining and there were quite a few water filled pot holes. Privacy and shading is good with trees between the sites. All sites for regular RV visitors are water and mostly 30amp electric only. There are NO sewer sites! But they do have two dump stations and a Honey Wagon service (which we didn't use) cost $50 per pump out. They also have cottages, cabins, yurts and a tent area. There are five shower/restroom buildings, and a laundry. The Old Western “Town Square” includes a Welcome Center, General Store, book exchange, propane filling station, movie rentals, and a meeting room. There is a pool complex with a baby pool, two larger pools, and a hot tub. Nearby Sunriver is a resort/vacation community filled with amenities like grocery stores, fuel, restaurants, breweries, and many many tourist activities. We loved biking around Sunriver on their extensive bike trail system. Downtown Bend has live music, vendors and food trucks in Drake Park in the summer. There are many great restaurants and is well-known for it’s breweries as well as the Old Mill District with a great shopping precinct. It's a great area hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting and paddle boarding. We drove part of the Cascade Scenic Byway and kayaked on the Deschutes River. NO mail or parcels are accepted here - you will need to have your mail forwarded to General Delivery, Bend, Oregon, 97701-9999. Note: the local Sunriver USPS will NOT accept General Delivery. As members of Thousand Trails, we did not pay a nightly fee to stay at this campground. It is all part of our TT camping membership that we have had since 2014. You can learn more about how we are able to camp 'for free" in our many articles about TT – and get a more detailed review and photos of this campground – at our RVLove website.

The site was level, only needed 2 inch lift to level left side. The campground is at an elevation of 4150 ft. Access to the campground was right off S. Century Drive , about 3 miles from hwy 97. Our 28 ft travel trailer easily fit with room to spare in our site. Once we enter the campground, the pavement turns to hard packed gravel as we looped around once to find a campsite. Weather was sunny upper 80's, the nights low 40's. This is a very quite campground, there was no noise from main road entering the campground. Activities we enjoyed at the campground to keep busy was frisbee golf, mini-golf, a nice swimming pool and restroom with showers within a few minutes of our site. My wife and I enjoyed the campground, we will stay again next time we are in the area. We stayed two nights as we traveled toward Crater Lake, Oregon.

There was a ton of room to spread out in our site and we had plenty of shade. The staff at this Thousand Trails location is so helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. We both work remotely in technology and did not have any trouble getting decent speeds on our Verizon hotspot using a WeBoost and an omnidirectional antenna. There's some nice shopping and restaurants nearby.Tech Specs (WeBoost + Omnidirectional Antenna) -------Verizon - 55mbps download | 10.3mbps upload | 67ms pingAT&T - 4.34 mbps download | 4.41mbps upload | 55ms pingThe Good --------Huge sites availableThe staff is awesomeThe pools are really nice (if you can get past the purple water)Quiet and calm, very serene atmosphereLots of activities happening all the time - great for families! The Bad --------The water in this park is NASTY. As in, bring bottled water and plan on changing your filter once a week. Our skin turned orange and that's AFTER it had run through our water filter into the RV.No sewer hookups.Grassy areas around and between sites were REALLY long, felt pretty neglectedBathrooms were in serious need of updates. The one by us was at least clean, but some others in the park were like something out of a horror movie.

Our site was OK, nothing special. The pool was nice!! It was kind of confusing driving around in there, I’m not sure if it was the map, the campsites, or me!!! When we went to leave three out of the four dump stations were full and overflowing!! We were able to dump our black but not our grey!! That did NOT make us happy campers!!!!

I’ve heard how awesome this park is so I reserved two weeks. At first it seemed okay. During the day the traffic on the park’s roads was worse than the traffic on the road outside the park. Those big class As and pick up trucks are supposed to drive 5 miles an hour but people don’t listen so the dust kicked up was awful. Then about 5 different times people were walking through my campsite. I thought that was the cardinal rule in campgrounds that you don’t walk into someone’s campsite. Half an hour ago some guy walked over my hose and electrical cord to see the little sign clipped on the electrical box showing when I was leaving. Are you kidding me? I might as well be camping in the median of the interstate. Oh, and did I mention that there’s no sewer hookups? That’s right. So you either have to have one of those tanks that you can haul your waste to the dump station or you have to move your entire RV to the dump station. All day long people are driving back and forth to dump their holding tanks. More dust kicked up. So far Thousand Trails isn’t that great. At least not this park. And it’s so big that you need a tow car or a pickup truck to get around. If you have any handicap issues that prevent you from walking long distances you shouldn’t stay here. Some people won’t mind all the hassle and rudeness but if you’re like me it’s not worth it. There’s national forest all around which offers better camping. The only difference is that Thousand Trails Sunriver has two swimming pools but based on the number of kids running around here the pools are going to be no more sanitary than my holding tank. No thanks. Kids pee in pools.

It's often closed and unclear when it will be open or closed or why it's closed.Staff were polite and friendly. But we reported shower heads that were covered in something gross - not just calcium - and they said they'd replace the shower heads but never did - even after reporting it several times. And the water smelled like body odor really bad in several of the shower facilities we used. They didn't seem to want to do anything about it either. Very disappointing. We loved the layout, felt like there was plenty of space. Privacy is great in many spots. Could be better in many others.Easy access to the river nearby. Our lot was in the corner at the end of a loop so we had total privacy.Old Mill District, which is a beautiful shopping center in downtown Bend is only 30 minutes away. Several great taco shops there too.Deifnitely recommend the campground but also really want them to fix the internet, showers and clubhouse so they're usable.

We were able to find a 50A site, and left a chair in the site along with our site tag, to reserve it while we went to dump... before we could get back (we drove by on the way to the dump), the chair had used its legs to walk away! Not a pleasant welcome! We went initially to the dump at the bottom of the campground - it had a sign indicating that you should only open your tank valve 1/2 way due to the septic being full... since we have automatic valves (no way to open half way) and since we could easily see that the pipe had liquid right near the top, we decided to try the other dump station. The one at the top of the hill has ability for two rigs to dump at the same time, and had no issue taking on our nearly full tanks. We were in a site that backed up to the meadow - evidently prized by those who want good view with satellite dishes. It appeared that nearly all the sites in this campground could easily accommodate very large rigs.Laundry was relatively clean and easy to use. No sewer sites in this campground, though one of the seasonal guests in the campground told me that they are in the process of putting sewer into all of the sites, and that it may be available by 2019.We enjoyed visiting the Newberry Volcanic National Monument Paulina Lake area, particularly the hike on the Big Obsidian Flow. Wear closed shoes and take water.

Dusty roads and campers that drive too fast, including park employees. I called the office and they know it is an issue... too bad they have not fixed it. I should have paid more attention to previous reviews. The sites are good size, beautiful trees. If they travel the roads or water them down I will come back.

The sites here are large and pretty level with plenty of trees around to give you that forest feel.Laundry room was decent although pretty outdated. Showers were nice and the water was good and hot. Water pressure at our site was good but once you turned on a faucet it dropped dramatically. There is no WiFi at this park so be prepared if you need to be connected.Camp store was very nice and seemed to have everything you might have forgotten for a camping trip, within reason of course.Office lady was cold shouldered when we checked in, not very welcoming at all, which I suppose is neither here nor there since we didn't need to deal with any personnel during our stay. Just don't expect to be welcomed when you arrive.Off leash dog area back by the river is huge and we really appreciated that for our Dane Maggie. This is a great park for families offering tennis and basketball courts, both kids and adult pools and a large building for family reunions etc.All in all we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Then just for one night in July, so we haven’t had an opportunity to use the pool or other amenities. The campground covers 283 acres with cabins, RV and tent sites. There are several loops, sites are mostly large, level, back-in, with varying degrees of separation and privacy. Sites have water and 30 amp services, but no sewer. There are dump stations and a honey bucket service twice a week if you don’t want to move your rig to dump. None of the roads are paved and it can be dusty in the summer. We like the natural setting and resident deer. 3 bars of 4G without a booster. We do recommend putting down jack pads, we leveled and a few hours later noticed the rear jacks had sunk several inches into the soft ground. Not sure if this was just our site, but worth doing to avoid the hassle of re-leveling the coach. Note: Not a cheap date. Daily fee for an RV site is $49 + a $4/day resort fee + tax = $57.77 total. Several discounts are offered including Thousand Trails, Coach-Net, Enjoy America, FQCC, and Good Sam Club. I also used Passport America here in May but it wasn’t valid in July. This area has a lot to offer – Bend (breweries!), High Desert Museum, Newberry National Volcanic Monument, Tumalo Falls, Lava River Cave, Deschutes River, Smith Rock…. we just need to schedule a month or so to play!

This is a nice campground near to Sunriver. The sites are woody with level gravel for the RV. The restroom near our site was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly. There is a "Western themed" town square with a small store. There is no sewer hook ups, but a dump site is available. It was quite quiet during our visit.

  • Expensive for the Condition of the Property and Only Partial Hookup

A quick walk to the river -no sites are on the river. A number of the best sites are occupied by full time rigs. Easy access to great road bike routes, kayak/SUP on site. No walking trails right out of the park. A quick drive to restaurants in Sunriver. They also serve a $2 pancake breakfast on Sunday mornings in the club house. There is a pool open during the summer. A ping pong and a pool table are available in the club house. We did enjoy fishing for crawdads at the resort. A quick drive is required to get to a better area for flyfishing.
