If you are coming from the east on 30, don’t follow Google maps. It will take you on 8th street through the hills of Astoria (little San Francisco). Caused quite a bit of puckering in our 45 foot MH as we tried to get out of that sticky situation! Stay on 30 and go around the perimeter of Astoria. The park is pretty nice looking. Lots of green grass, trees and plants. And there is the 9 hole golf course which was undergoing some remodeling. Clubs and carts are available to rent, and the fees are reasonable. The staff is friendly, and check-in was pretty painless. No discounts during the summer – no club, weekly or monthly. They accept cash or check only. There was no deposit required when we made the reservation for our RV site. The park is located in an industrial type area, and you will hear some of the heavy machinery. It is also located near a crazy intersection between Youngs River Road and Business 101. There is traffic noise, jake brakes and other loud vehicles but it quieted down at night. The interior roads are paved, and the sites are gravel. Each site comes with a half picnic table (why?). There are no patios. The sites are fairly close and some very close as the utilities are in a space between them. Our neighbor had hooked his sewer up to ours so we had to stretch two hoses together to reach what should have been his. He apparently had been there a long time. Our fairly level site was a pull in with a view of the golf course out the front window. There was just enough room for the MH and toad. On our passenger side was some type of modular that someone lived in. Satellite is possible in some spots. We could not get any decent over the air channels. Verizon was 4g 3 bars. WII FI was actually pretty darn good, at least in our site. There is a tasty food cart within walking distance, and it ended up being too convenient! We had some cloudy, misty days and some sunny days. The temperature was pretty constant with highs around 70 and lows in the 50s. It is VERY windy!

First time in a private CG as we prefer spacious layouts in woods of public CG and boondocking. This CG was much better than expected. D3 had some shade and was on grassy flat with electricity and nearby water. Very clean restroom and shower. Designated dog pee area. Active management and security. The lady at the reservations line told me that they only take cash, although they take your cc number for a reservation. Then she told me that the rv park is not family friendly, and she would recommend us go elsewhere. No problem.

Nice campground. Good laundry, shower, restrooms. Sites level. We had FHU. Good wifi. Some sites a little close but by far not the tightest we’ve been in. Owners were fabulous people. Great place to eat on property. Best food we had in the area.

  • Very nice sites, just a bit pricey for us

Our site was pulled right up to a big pond and there were lots of ducks and other birds to watch. Location was quiet, the sites were nice plenty big enough for our 40' class A, and traffic through the park was minimal. The only drawback was the price was more than we like to pay. If we come back this way I will check on an extended rate. Hope to be able to spend more time in Astoria as it is full of history.

Very nice campground, but we would HIGHLY recommend staying in the "C" loop for the best views and experience. The "A" & "B" loops are too close to the road and not near as pretty at the "C" loop.

Park itself is okay and in a good location to explore the area. Golf course is a complete joke...tiny AstroTurf greens...just ridiculous.

I am sure glad we chose this spot based on previous reviews. Now, here is the key - You want to have a spot in the “C” section. It is by far the nicest spot in the park. If we would have been in the “front” section, I am not sure we would have such high reviews. The C section backs up to a small creek/stream/pond and looks out over the golf course. They are all back-in or pull-ins, depending on what your needs are. The grounds are immaculate however there is no cable TV. We set up our satellite dish to watch March Madness. We didn’t use the laundry or bathhouse so we can’t comment on those. The lady who checks you in is quite energetic and has a lot of information about the surrounding area. If you go to Astoria, Bowpickers Fish and Chips is a must. Lastly, if you are on ATT, your phone will bounce between an LTE tower and 4G tower, which is a huge drain on your battery.

There are only two choices that I know of; this one and the highly sought after Fort Stevens State Park which had no availability at all, even in late September and rain looming. We called and were able to secure a grass spot at Lewis and Clark for the night. We were told that we were lucky because as soon as it starts to rain we would not be able to camp on the grass and it's the only availability they have. She also told us that there was a cruise ship coming in that day and she wouldn't recommend ANYONE come to Astoria while it was in port! We of course had no choice and took coveted the grass spot called D6. When we arrived we were escorted to our spot via a lady on golf cart. She explained that she would give us 4 "shots" at backing into our spot before she would "take over" what ever that means? Luckily we made it on the first try, I think she was disappointed. The spot was lovely, grassy and large. It overlooked the pond and golf course with the Larger RV's parked in large gravel spots across the way.PROS: It was availableClean and Tidy20 amp serviceWater CONS:No sewerNo flexibility-We asked for a late check out, which was a no! We rushed into town to see the Column and the Sunday market and were back by 11:00 to leave! - No dump station but there was an empty spot in a full hookup area that she let us use on our way out. Otherwise she told us there is someplace at a water treatment center that has a dump station.Overall, we would stay again if passing through Astoria and the State Park is full.

Immaculate grounds, friendly staff and lots of room for the biggest rigs. Large center grass area for pets (on leash) and nice grassy areas in each site. Ours was huge! No fire rings, nice picnic bench. No cable. Internet in and out.Do NOT trust your GPS to get here - you'll find yourself in trouble in the hills of Astoria (think San Francisco in an RV) or headed for the closed bridge. Instead, call for directions or print out Google maps for the route. Only 2 bars on ATT, but we still had good speed on our MiFi.Nothing within walking distance, but plenty nearby to see and do. We loved it here.
