We called a week in advance to make a reservation and were told they could accomodates us during the Covid19 pandemic. A hour away from arriving, I again confirmed our reservation while my wife was picking up supplies at the Walmart. Again, I was assured everything was OK. When we arrived at the check-in booth, there was no one manning the booth and so we began a self registration form and to disconnect our tow vehicle. A few minutes later a gentleman arrived in a pickup and said there had been a goof up and they were full. Additionally he said our rig would not have fit into the site that had initially been reserrved. Since we did not actually stay at the facility, I can not comment on the site conditions or ammenities but finding yourself without a reserved site at 5 PM can raise the srtess level, as I am sure other readers can relate to.Bottom line, we found that the State Campground 10 miles up the road could accomodate us and was an excellent facility.

We ended up staying on the west side of the campground - on the other side of Hwy 69, through a locked gate and then down to the boat ramp. The west side seemed a bit of a step child (the tent sites had not been mowed in weeks, the outdoor primitive rest rooms were invaded by spiderwebs etc.), but for us in a 5th wheel it was fine. We had water and electric on our site right next to the boat ramp. We had a rusty grill, a concrete picnic table and the remnants of a fire ring. The site had a newer gravel pad. The best part was being right on the water, the amazing quiet (We heard a bit of Hwy 69 and the train track plus of course the cricadas). We had 2 neighbors aka other trailers on this side, but we only heard one of them come and go. During my morning run and at leaving time I got to check out the better maintained other or east side too. There is a dump site, next to the not very modern, pretty dark bathroom. The sites there were a bit higher above the lake, but spaced apart amongst lots of shade trees.

  • This was a beautiful place to camp overlooking beautiful Lake Eufaula.

We loved this campground. Lake Eufaula is huge and a wonderful fishing spot. This campground is beautiful and sits on top of the cliffs overlooking the lake. There is a boat ramp for anyone with a boat. Sites have water and electric. There is a dump station. A quiet peaceful place to camp.
