We would stay here again.

Stayed here while we searched for a cemetery to locate the gravesite of a long passed relative in 1938. Coolville was the perfect location to stay as our search was Athens to Guysville. We found it and so much more! This campground is well kept, spots were level, bathrooms/showers clean with washer/dryers in same area. Campground has a lot of trailers that are set up but were mostly empty during the week. Everyone shows up on Friday and vacates on Sunday. This area of Ohio is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the time spent there. Chris & Teresa are down to earth friendly folks. Best quote from Teresa, “Your business is your business but if your business becomes our business then we have a problem.”

The owners were very friendly and helped us get set up with a pull through with full hook ups quickly. They even had levelers ready for people using the site we had. We got in late and left early, but it seemed well maintained and very popular. The sites are close together for our taste, however not out of the ordinary compared to other RV parks.

When you arrive, you will be greeted by a tall land-bridge, which allows you to pass between two large ponds. After climbing the entrance and a couple turns into the campground, we were met at the office and escorted to our site in the new campground side, where we were able to set up quickly and with no incident. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. If you are transients as we are, you will likely find your site in the inner circle of the new side of the campground. Most of the sites on the old side and the outer ring of the new side seem to be filled with seasonal campers. Most rigs were unoccupied during the week and average half occupied on weekends. There were times during our 1-month stay when we were the only people in the new section. The old section has a clean, kempt bathhouse/ restroom with a washer and dryer (coin-operated - $1.50 wash - $0.75 dry). The new section has two half bath private restrooms. The old section has a playground for younger children. The new section has a jungle gym and swings by a small basketball court. The two ponds were set up, one for swimming, the other for fishing. We participated in a carry-in dinner and a pancake breakfast during our stay. The carry-in was themed Christmas in August and drew a large crowd, which in turn brought a lot of food. The pancake breakfast included "you bring - we cook" donations for items such as bacon, eggs and sausage. On Saturdays an ice cream truck would come through the campground, sometimes twice. We had a couple channels of over air television reception from Athens and Parkersburg with just an antenna. We saw deer run across the ridge behind the campground and many nights heard coyote. Desonier State Nature Preserve is about half a mile from the campground and is easily accessed by bike or hike from the campground. (photos included). Strouds Run State Park is about 15-20 miles away and has good biking, hiking, and horse trails. (Photos included)There is a Family Dollar about 4 miles away. Athens is about 18 miles away for other needs.Overall, this campground is exceptional, if what you need is a good step away from a noisy, busy life.
Well maintained and excellent customer service.
