The RV park is right next to the lake with a little inlet dividing it into a north and south section., either has good sites. The office/café/gift shop/convenient store and boat ramp is on the southside. It is at the end of ND hwy 1806 out of Watford City, ND. It is a wide open grassy (prairie grassy) RV park with some tree planted for wind beaks. Sites will accommodate any size of RV. We had no problem with our 40' fifth wheel and you can park at anyway you want by your 50/30/15 amp power pedestal. The site themselves are electrical only. They have a spot to fill up at the office or you can use their water truck for free and drive it to you site. There is a dump station behind the office but we used our poop wagon instead. The north side seems to be quieter and has a great new playground.Gave it 4 stars on the campsite since is it on grass (it did rain and was not really muddy) and 4 stars on noise because is an occasional oil truck would roll by. BTW this is the second year we have camped here.4 bars for Verizon and I got 120 mbps down and and 37mbps up via speedtest, net. I do not have a booster and this from my laptop tethered to my Samsung S21.

They work very hard to make this feel like a community. I’ve camped at many places in MT and ND and Tobacco Gardens is by far the friendliest. Peggy personally checks on her campers and and makes sure their needs are met. I would recommend Tobacco Gardens to anyone. The sunsets are amazing not to mention swimming, boating, fishing and being treated great while you do it.

Head North from Watford City on Highway 1806 approximately 29 miles to the end of the pavement. You enter on a long paved entrance right to the C-store and Restaurant where check-in is a breeze. The friendly staff will greet you almost immediately. All the information will be given to you and they will not waste any time getting you on your way to your campsite. Before you head to the site stop behind the building and fill up your fresh water tanks with softened water from the tap and provided hose. Getting to your campsite you loop around a paved road and may have to get back onto the highway to go to the North campground or a short jaunt down a gravel path will get you to your spot. There is availability for anyone here from a tent to a 40' Class A. You will not be disappointed with the power at these locations they have all been updated to support two 15 amp, 1 30amp, and 1 50 amp receptacle. Power only at all locations. I chose three stars for Site Quality due to them being grass only. When it is raining it doesn't seem to get that muddy though. Because this campground is on Corps of Engineers land like most of the other campgrounds on Lake Sakakawea max consecutive days is 14. If you sign up for a lottery drawing you can score a seasonal site for the summer, May through October for $200/month, must be able to stay overnight at least once per week to qualify. Unlike other campgrounds on Lake Sakakawea Tobacco Gardens has it all. Restaurant, C-store, Boat ramp, Fuel station for boats, boat slips, Water, Dump station, fish cleaning station, vault toilets, ice, bait, fishing supplies, large storage available for $50 a month, Multiple Cabins, full restrooms with showers, vault toilets, fire pits, firewood available but check on local burn bans please they are all too common! miles of shore access for great fishing, common catch is Northern Pike up to 22+ lbs, great Walleye, and catfish. Also near Tobacco Gardens is the Birnt Hills Trail. Part of the Lewis and Clark experience. There is a covered area with information on the area and Lewis and Clarks expedition, also a trail. (I'm sorry I do not know much about the trail) For the cellular review I do not use a booster, and any other carrier than Verizon does not work out there. Also wifi is available in the restaurant/c-store and the RV spots behind the restaurant. Most sites do not have wifi. Must ask for a password.I don't seem to have many great photos of Tobacco Gardens, Check out these videos I have from there if the links workVideo reviewhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3K3kt2n1MY6-15-15 fishing on Lake Sakakawea, you can see a couple fish jump during videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIaqUshOuOkMemorial day 2015, just calm water!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClQHj_ciQ3MThanks!Jed
