Pros- kind staff- pretty creek running along the back- playground - mini golf- nice location - pretty- clean- laundry is inexpensive - pool and hot tub - we came in the off season so it was quiet, some amenities were closed for the season- nice area by the creek to play or sit on swings - small dog park Cons- by a highway but we weren’t overly bothered by it- sites are a little tight if it was full- creek side sites aren’t facing the direction you’d think, most have a road and large grassy area. Still pretty spots- I’d say it’s dog friendly-ish as there are a number of places you’re not supposed to walk.

Some trees are encumbrances to larger rigs like ours, but nothing major. A creek runs through one side, the highway is on the other and it can get loud the closer you are to the highway side. There’s also a lumber mill across the highway and there is a hum. The laundry room is nice with 6 washers and great dryers 1.75/1.25. There’s a play area and other things for families to do during the summer season.Make the trip to Asheville about 30 minutes away. We loved Sierra Nevada and New Belgium breweries and the food there. Boojum Brewery in Waynesville had good beer and great food. Waynesville has a cute downtown area. They also have 2 grocery stores and Walmart. We will stay here again.

When we called requesting 2 nights, we were told they had one night in A2 and another night in a different site. We accepted that as most RV parks were completely booked. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and double checked availability to try and prevent us from having to move sites. We ended up getting to stay in A2 for both nights! This is the perfect location to visit Cataloochee Valley and see the beautiful elk that call it home. The only negative is the road noise, but it's a small tradeoff for the great location.

Pride said and showed all the right things but many of their sites will not accommodate your rig and TV. We had to disconnect and a tree made it difficult to park our truck on our site without impinging on the neighbors. The best sites appeared to be G row by the river. We ended up leaving our truck in overflow parking.Staff was friendly and efficient. Check in was smooth. As others have noted there is a fair amount of road noise here. My wife noted that laundry was more reasonable here than many campgrounds. Check out the Boojum Brewery Taproom in Waynesville if you looking for a casual meal.

This really isn't my style of camping but I struggled to find anything in this area during "leaf season" that had cell service, so I settled here. It was pretty much what I expected for a large commercial RV park. Objectively I can't say anything bad about this place. I arrived after the office closed and they had left me a packet of welcome documents in a box outside the office. My site was a gravel pull-through that was nice and level and had a picnic table. The sites are definitely close together, but I expected that. This place has all the amenities you could need. I used the laundry facility which was really nice, and the restrooms were also clean and nice. The WiFi was surprisingly fast and I was able to work on it all week. They do propane fills here and the prices seemed really reasonable. As other reviewers mentioned, the stream that runs beside the campground is also really nice. I agree with the other reviewers about the noise here - there is definitely a lot of road noise. Also some kind of cattle or pig farm smell would hit the campground pretty hard when the wind was right. Overall neither of these were really a big deal for me because I wasn't really expecting peace and solitude in this kind of park. One thing that I didn't really expect, though, is that the park had kind of a retirement community vibe... The crowd is much older and I only saw one or two younger people the whole week I was there. Overall, if you've camped in these kinds of RV parks you pretty much know what to expect here. For what it is I have no complaints at all, as this provided me with a good location to get some work done and visit GSMNP and Waynesville.

Our price is with the Passport America discount, and it's only a few extra dollars a night than doing dry camping inside the Smokie park, so why not get the hookups. No problem with electricity or utilities. No issues with loud neighbors, even though the park was full in early October. Our spot was in the A section near the major road, so if the sound of vehicles whizzing by bothers you, I suggest getting a spot in section C or D, closer to the stream that is on the property. The only reason I'm dinging to 4 stars was the awfully slow wifi. But for the price, hey, you gotta expect something won't be perfect.

All of our interactions with the staff were very good, from making our reservations and our arrival. It was well marked where to pull up to while you checked in. The only issue is if it is really busy, it could get to be a bit problematic. There were just two of us, but the people who pulled in behind us didn't understand we were going to unhook our car as we had a back in site. They pulled a bit close to us! We liked this location because it was centrally located to the places we wanted to see and it was an easy in and out, in a car or a motorhome. Our only incident was that there was a thunderstorm and apparently it tripped our 50 amp meter. We were gone from Friday until Monday morning. We did let our neighbors, who were work campers (and let the office know) we would be gone those few days. We were upset upon our return to see the items in the freezer were melted! We didn't have much in the fridge, thankfully. I guess how would they know they should have checked our meter? Lesson learned and hopefully if it happens again, they will check the meters of anyone who planned to be gone a few day!
