We typically prefer dispersed camping but couldn’t find anything in the area so we ended up here. The kids were thrilled to have a huge field to play in with the supplied soccer balls, bat mitten, bats, lawn games and playground. A creek surrounds the field so most sites have a little beach front. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring and fire wood is available to purchase. The sites are not paved, it’s an old pasture but they are reasonably level and we had no problem with our airstream nor did our family with a 31 ft rv. Sites have hookups and there are bathrooms and a shower. We also enjoyed that we were only 15 minutes walk to connect with a trail into Stone Mountain park. I’d definitely recommend this campground :)

Very quiet place. Camp site 10 is the best one you have a little beach area to get into the creek. It’s an 12 minute walk to Stone Mountain lower falls my family ( wife and two small kids 2 & 5) hike it with no problem.

  • Relaxed atmosphere, great access to Stone Mountain

First I have to say, this is a pasture by a stream with partial hookups. There are no roads, no rocked or paved sites. It’s a pasture. I don’t mind that but that why I gave it only 4 stars. The bathrooms are small but spotless. There is a dump station on the way out. The best part is that you walk across a dead end road, hop on a path and hike into Stone Mountain Park. There’s lots more hiking once in the park and a beautiful trout stream to fish. This is a pretty remote area so stock up on groceries before you get there. If you’re looking to get away from rule-heavy campgrounds and do some hiking and fishing, Sandy Creek is the place for you!
