A smaller, very friendly campground on the beautiful Outer Banks. Easy access from the main road. The entrance is a little tight, especially if anyone else is in the parking area. Interior roads are easy to maneuver through. Our dirt site was level with 50 amp FHUs and everything worked fine. Open sky for satellite and park WiFi worked well.Quiet and dark at night. No fire rings. Small picnic table. Sites are decent size, we didn't have neighbors next to us so that was even better.Pay attention to the pricing and paying policies before you arrive! Passport America is a minimum of three nights and is cash only. We paid $2/night more to use our credit card which was fine with us and still a great deal for the location. You pay separately for metered electricity with a cash deposit required. The only ding is the difficulty in finding someone in the office. It's a small place and not practical for them to sit there all day, but with no option to call anyone it was annoying. I tried for three days to reach someone to make a reservation. When we checked out there was no one there so we didn't get a refund on the unused electric deposit. If we had owed, they wouldn't have gotten that either so they need to figure out something there. Had to go back a couple times to extend for another day. Otherwise, it's one of our favorite stops on the east coast.
