Great views, quiet setting, convenient to Asheville’s downtown, nearby kayaking and hiking, fantastic staff, clean, great layout, what more can I say? This is a fantastic campground on all levels and highly recommended! I wish more campgrounds would follow a similar layout that feels so private even without huge space.

Jason greeted us at the entrance and was so kind and helpful. I know some reviews have said the drive up is difficult but we navigated it fine in our 44ft fifth wheel so do not let that deter you. My husband and I are definitely planning to return for a longer stay.

We stayed for 8 nights in one of the best sites there. There are many trails right off the campground. I took my dog for hikes almost every day. We went down the trails to the entrance at the bottom of the mountain and then hiked up the dirt road all the way back to the campground. This is a great location for visiting Asheville, the best in the area. We drove through a few other campgrounds while visiting and felt happy that we were staying at Campfire Lodgings over the others. We worked during the week using a cell booster which probably was not necessary. Both of us need cell for our hot spots, so we always put it up. We had no problems working (including video calls). Oh, the sunsets from this park are AMAZING!

Conveniently located close to downtown Asheville. For us, the road to the campsite was not as terrifying as many have commented. We were more frightened by the frequent lane changes and short merge windows on the interstates in Asheville. It's a very quiet location unless you are next to a site with rowdy campers.

We went with my dads travel trailer which is 27ft and had no issues going up the hilly entrance, our spot was pretty level as well. The bathrooms/showers were clean but in need of a bit of updating and the water was not warm enough for a winter shower. The Wifi was reliable even though we were in the last spot. Overall I would definitely recommend Campfire lodgings and would stay again.

The host was very kind on the phone, and they promptly sent us a emailed confirmation. We knew that the campground is on the side of the mountain, and it would require some challenging roads to get to the campground. However we were unprepared for the route to be poorly marked and the road to be unpaved. The signage is very poor, and you are left guessing if you are driving up the correct mountian road. When we arrived to the campground, the young lady who helped us check in was very unfriendly. The did not inform us that the restrooms were closed due to Covid 19. I asked if I could use the restroom, and the lady just stated no we do not have any. She was very cold and gave us an uninviting welcome. She was not engaging or interested in helping us get settled into the park. The sites are long and sufficient. We were able to get set up without any concerns. What shocked me is how you have to exit the campground. The campground is basically one way with a small area that you must turn around in order to leave the campground. I saw many experienced drivers fret and struggle on how they were going to get their RV out of the park. To me the exit process is a deal breaker for me becasue of the stress that it puts on your RV to make such a tight turn. We would only return to the park we were able to get a premium site. The views from these sites are world class and worth the trouble to driving up the mountian. However the regular sites do not have a view at all, and do not justify the stress involved in travling to this campground.

My husband and I recently celebrated the 4th of July here with our (2) large dogs and let me say it was nothing short of fabulous. The staff (Jason) is awesome and make you feel right at home from the minute you arrive. We were lucky enough to snag spot D-19, which has an amazing deck attached to the site and an awesome view from the slide. The site also offers privacy due to how it’s set up, which we loved for outdoor entertainment. We could not have been happier with this site. The pet trails are perfect for any pet owner and they also have wifi, although it’s a tad slow. The lookout point made every evening magical, especially on the 4th, when there’s fireworks galore! Overall, we’d recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a campsite you’ll talk about for years to come. We’ll definitely be back!

We totally lucked out, because if there's one place to have to stay for longer than normal this is absolutely it!The view is spectacular and doesn't get old. There are walking paths through the woods that are on their land. Turkeys strut their stuff right next to your RV, we also saw a fox and signs of a black bear. It's just a small 19 RV park, but we were especially lucky to share it with only 2 other RV's.They have "regular" pads that are gravel and "premium" pads that are concrete with a view. We were on a concrete pad with a fabulous view out of the bedroom window. The park WiFi worked very well, but of course, the park was nearly empty. We will definitely return to this park. We even started looking around the area to check the price of land!Data on Verizon was pretty good 25/10 Mbps. AT&T was variable from as good as Verizon down to constantly dropping depending on the weather. T-Mobile was only 2 bars but gave a decent 15/10 Mbps.A final hint about access. It's an uphill gravel road that's wide enough for an RV and maybe a car passing. RV's leave before 2pm and new RV's arrive after 2pm - the rule is because you do not want to pass on this road. Also when doing up the road the last bend to the left is reasonably steep and so do not stop on it. We are a big 45' RV and we got up fine, just don't treat it as a normal road and maybe unhook before the hill (it's not necessary, but it will make you feel a bit more comfortable).

We spotted this place online before we decided to buy an RV and it definitely lived up to our high expectations. There are premium sites and deluxe sites. The premium sites have an amazing view right from their sites. The deluxe ones still have nice views, but not quite like the deluxe ones. However, there is a common area where you can go that has the best view of all! That’s where we watched the sunset every night and it was fun getting to know the other campers. We saw a black bear and turkeys in the campground too! The staff is super helpful. Each site has a trash can so you do not have to worry about making dumpster runs. Be sure not to get there early - the one way road going up to the campground is steep and I’m not quite sure what would happen if you met another RV!

This was our first campground after becoming full-timers and couldn't be happier with our choice. We splurged for our first experience and paid $37.50. for a full hookup deluxe site. This is a pretty small private campground with @ 17 sites, but it was full of nice amenities such as private bathroom/shower rooms, laundry, propane, firewood, great hiking trails and unmatched views. The park is also pet-friendly. The staff was extremely helpful and routinely check in with us to see if we needed anything to make our stay more enjoyable. The campground is located on the top of a mountain so the road to the top is narrow, fairly steep and bumpy. We had no problem with our rig and saw larger Class A motorhomes get in and out without a problem, just be aware and take it slow. If your budget allows there are premium sites that are concrete pads, full hook up sites with unobstructed views of the valley and French Broad River below. You are literally parked on the edge of the mountain! And did I mention the turkeys? Every day there was a rafter(google it, it's a thing/I had to) of turkey that meandered through the park. Downtown Asheville is @15 minutes away and the smaller town of Weaverville was closer for groceries and necessities. When you're in the area check out the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Fletcher(great food to go along with their selection of beer), @ 5 minutes away from campfire lodgings we ate at the Blue Mountain Pizza, which had great pizza and local beer, Asheville pinball museum was great and of course the Biltmore Estate. Oh...and they had great wifi.

The whole campground is small, which I prefer, as it was easier to relax into the peace and quiet of this mountaintop retreat without all the people sound pollution. There are hiking trails right behind the yurt sites that are nice for an afternoon stroll with the pup. The management were very friendly and ready to help. Wifi was nice and strong. OH! And you are less than 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. I mean come on! You can't get better than that - it's literally the best of both worlds! Getting up the mountain can be impossible if more than 1 rig attempts it at the same time, so they recommend calling right before you get there so they stop traffic. Smarter than trying to reverse down that hill...The only regret I have is not making a reservation sooner and snagging one of the deluxe sites (deluxe have valley views, premium do not) as every sunset was pure magic. They do have a seating area where unlucky premium site peeps can gather to watch it. We were frequent fliers there for sure.We will be back and looking forward to it!

We wanted a premium site for the views and when making our reservation they recommended P-8 because we have small children. Our site had a concrete pad, power, water, and sewer connections as well as a lantern on the power connection pole and entry to drive and a dedicated secure trashcan. The site is adjacent to the overlook with several chairs and benches and across from the bathhouse. The staff were friendly and campground quiet despite being mostly full. The restrooms are in need of an overhaul but were mostly clean. The campground also has 5+ miles of hiking trails and a catch and release pond. Free wi-fi worked well. Close proximity to downtown Asheville. We will definitely be back for the views are unmatched. Would love to see the bathhouse updated.

You overlook the Blue Ridge Mountains which are lovely. We arrived late in the evening so our name was on a clipboard and we just found our spot. It was simple enough. The host was super friendly when we met him the next day. You're close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, downtown Asheville, and a ton of great hiking trails. It is on the top of our list of favorite spots! The grounds were clean and the facilities were well maintained. I do remember using the campground wifi to do some work and it worked just fine. We didn't have any other internet with us at the time since this was just a vacation. :)

  • Uplifting mountain experience.

It is a small campground with limited amenities (such as a pool or rec area that we do not care about) but it is so close to many things to do! Our site was concrete with full hook-ups right on the edge of the mountain and a beautiful view of the valley below. They offered fire rings and very nice picnic table area. The campground had a cute little spot set up with chairs and benches for enjoying the sunset over the valley. They also had yurts and lots of tent camping areas. The next morning we awoke to a flock of wild turkeys in our campsite! They had many trails that we did not have time to hike but the few we walked with our dogs were nice. We met friends here that used the shower house and they said they were OK. We were only able to stay here one night due to an emergency at home but we would definitely like to return. The very friendly managers said the premium sites do fill up quickly so plan to reserve ahead. The drive up from the main road is a little tricky as it is steep and curvy but just keep going and an oasis meets you at the top!
