One of the rare places in the Central Adirondacks with full hookups. Thornbush Acres is a small family campground in Indian Lake. The sites are relatively level and well kept. I made my reservation in person a few days before my stay. They also take reservations over the phone. They accept cash or check payment only.

  • A neat little campground in the middle of the ADK

We were assigned our site and was able to get in (and out) without issues. There are plenty of trees and some branches are low but we passed through without hitting. The site was not bad level wise, we had water and 30 amp electric. The electric is pay for what you use at .22 cent at KWH, I think we paid about $6 for electric for three days with AC. The campground is on the small side with about 20 sites so be sure to call for availability. There is a building with men/women bathrooms and showers. Again not huge, I think only one shower on each side. The office is also a quaint little store. The owner/host was very knowledgeable about the area. The campground is quiet, has a small play area. This campground is in the central Adirondacks, so this place is a great base camp for paddlers, fishing and hikers. Adirondack Lake, Indian Lake and Lake Abanakee are very nice to paddle. No cell signal, plus we found no wifi. I think since our stay they improved that. The hamlet of Indian Lake is not far, there is a Stewart's Shop with gas and groceries. A few retail shops and a pretty nice restaurant---> Indian Lake Restaurant and Tavern. I would stay here again.

  • Very central and a relaxing place to stay

There are 30 amp & water which we had and a limited number of full hookup sites. It would be advisable to call 1st before going there, as it is a popular camp. The site itself was generous with size and had good tree coverage. The amenities block was central and has 1 shower & toilet, which were immaculately clean. They have internet supplied but getting on to anything is hard at the best of times. The owners were great to deal with and are very friendly. The dump is tricky to get into if you are on the larger side but we used an empty site, which was not a problem. NOTE. Diesel fuel. The closest place to get fuel is 20 miles away. Power is pay for what you use which in our case was well below the rate for a powered site elsewhere. Power is 20c per K. We were in campsite no 4.This is a PA rate.
