Sewer was gradual uphill at our site; so debated if we should dump. We worked it out by making our own slope. If we hadn’t needed to dump we would have skipped. Too much work!! The shower/bathroom is an all in one with no shower curtain so the floor is wet! Despite marginal conditions you can’t get much closer to the caverns which are outstanding ????.

Had dogs with us. There’s a park nearby with grass to have them relieve themselves. Gravel roads. Backup spots. Conveniently near the caverns. As far as amenities we didn’t see or experience any as we arrived late and left early for the cavern. Spaces were a bit tight for our class A motor home rv w. Slide outs.

Forget about wi-fi. Not all pull-thru sites. That’s ok but out in a gravel parking lot next to the road. Don’t waste your money. The only good thing was location to the caverns.

Additionally, I need electric hook-ups and good signal to work during the week. If you don’t need these things, then boondock in one of the numerous BLMs between the parks for free. This place is overly priced and falsely advertises its amenities. The waterpark and arcade have been closed for long before Covid - you can tell by how decrepit the buildings are, but they still include these as amenities under your price. The “grocery store” is barely a convenient store with mostly expired and some molding food. The “restaurant” desperately needs additional employees. We tried to eat there, waited for about seven minutes, looked around the building, and couldn’t find anyone to seat us. The menu is lacking and overpriced (chips and salsa appetizer is five dollars). We went into neighboring Carlsbad for dinner. The P sites are right off the highway, and you’ll be packed like sardines: worse than city parks. We couldn’t extend our awning the full distance without crashing into the neighbor’s slide. They’ll also place small campers (we’re 24) between two giant buses, which is terrible when considering ventilation. Most places know not to do this. The sites further back seem nicer, but you can’t access the Wifi from that distance. This place was definitely a mistake. The website makes it seem much better than it is. Only pros are distance between parks, and good wifi (from where we are).

Check in was friendly and using a satellite photo we were directed back off of the main road to overflow site 01. A narrow macadam pad at the end of a row, easy enough to level, full hook ups and a nice view. Can't review the facilities, we don't use them. Repeated banging (drilling?) noises from the valley below were noticeable at night, but not too disruptive to rest. We were surprised to wake and find a rental camper van parked at our door between our fire pit and picnic table in the morning! The only thing bothersome were the overflowing dumpsters, the copious beacons of light overnight from a monthly resident's site and the unbelievable amount of dog waste (new and old) around the loop. We'd come back to see more of the caverns when the bats are flying and be happy to stay at White's again, even if we were backed in along the road.

They are on the side road to the park, and there's tons of room to maneuver big rigs. Check in process was very nice as the people are super-friendly. Cell service (Verizon) is awesome. The gal at the counter was friendly enough, but she wasn't well trained on booking the RV sites. After getting my site booked, she showed me a crude map but admitted she want really sure where the site was. The sites are not well marked, and another camper pointed me to my site. As another reviewer stated, the power lines are fairly low and cross the sites, such that I don't know if I could have raised the camper high enough to take it off the truck without hitting the lines. The other issue I had was there is a metal canopy over picnic tables between sites on one side, and the power and water on the other side. The canopy is a great idea, but it made the clearance with the slide-out very tight. One word of warning that's not the fault of the campground, but at night it was bug city! The bats from the caverns need only to visit the campground for an easy meal. I mention the bugs because many got into our camper, being attracted to the lights when I opened and closed the door, even if done quickly.

At that time, a new owner purchased all of White's City, including the RV park, and it's a completely different experience. All of the staff of this family-run business are friendly, helpful, and will go out of their way to ensure that your stay is a good one. The park is well-maintained, clean, and generally pretty quiet. The new owners are also gradually making capital improvements to the RV park, such as a brand-new laundry facility with 10 washers and dryers.Yes, some of the sites in the "L" and "M" sections are fairly narrow and closely-spaced, because they have a covered picnic table/patio adjacent to each site. But even large rigs can fit in them. If you're concerned about space, try to get one of the sites in the "P" section, which is on the road at the top of the campground. These FHU sites are plenty deep for even the largest rigs, and have enough space between them that you aren't right on top of your neighbor. Don't worry about noise from the road, because there's virtually no traffic on it except during the hours when Carlsbad Caverns National Park is open. This is not a resort by any means. But what it does have going for it is location: 12 minutes to the Visitor's Center at Carlsbad Caverns NP, 30 minutes to Guadalupe Mountains National Park. And with most of the RV parks in the town of Carlsbad continuously full with oilfield workers, you can usually get a spot at White's City.In short, don't hesitate to stay at White's City RV Park if you're visiting either of these great national parks. We were here for a week-long rally (the rate reflects a weekly and rally discount), and we'll be back for the same event next year.

The staff even bought two large kerosene heaters to help keep us more comfy in the cold. It's clear that yes, there are oil field workers here (we had no issues whatsoever with their presence), and also that the new owners are making improvements as quickly as they are able. I'm sure that as with any renovation/improvement project, their list is far bigger than their budget and time available.I took a peek into the bath house, and it looked clean and serviceable, but lacked a little privacy with the shower stalls. I did not use them. The laundry facility at the top of the hill (in the main shopping strip) is clean, very reasonably priced (1.50 wash, 1.00 dry), and the only machine that was out of order was clearly labeled. It's a no-frills experience to camp here, and we'd do it again. We look forward to seeing how the place has improved if we return for this service project next year.

Although it is gravel the pads are level and the full hookup sites are full hookup. The electrical boxes are all wired for 50 amp, but as long as you have a 30 to 50 amp adapter that’s not an issue. If you don’t have an adapter you should get one as I have been in many parks where one is needed. So complaining about that just shows your inexperience. The location is perfect for visiting the Carlsbad Caverns as they are just up the road 7 miles. We stayed in the back lot away from the road. The number listed for the RV park was outdated and we couldn’t call ahead. The new number as of 01-19-2020 is (575) 361-3665.Even if you don’t call I would check it out in person. Stop at the gift shop where the big green aliens are and check in there first. That is where you pay for an RV slot. My understanding is they also have some dry camping RV sites as well if you are just doing an overnight and don’t mind boondocking. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

After they close at 7-8pm, you have to check in at the hotel across the street. We travel in a converted cargo van. We do not have all the amenities a travel trailer has so we typically get an RV Site/campsite once every two weeks or so to refill our waters, hookup to power to top of our batteries, to dump trash, & do laundry all at once. Otherwise we are boondockers. What we liked: • Easy check-in• Had daily sites available (Currently under a Gov. Shutdown so the Caverns aren't busy)• Water• 15-30-50 amps hookups. • They let us park two vans on 1 site at no additional cost (with the condition only 1 van was hooked up, which make sense)• They gave us a late checkout without problem. • Really nice laundromat• Convenient gift store with some grocery items. • Sites were leveled. • Road noise was not terrible despite daily sites being right on the road. What we didn't like:• The showers!!! We had two options: the shower room closest to the daily sites was frozen and/or not working. It was just a small room with a toilet and a shower, just one hook to hang your stuff otherwise it was on the bathroom/shower floor. It was cold out, but assumed that shower house would be heated but it wasn't. I only figured the water wasn't working when I got undressed and froze in the room trying to work out the shower. They do have another shower facility further back in the park and they worked! Unfortunately, like another reviewer mentioned, they are awful. The 2 showers stalls have no privacy at all. I had to shower with my bare back exposed to other campers that were using the restroom. The shower drain is huge but not secured so it kept moving out of place while trying to shower. I could see an accident waiting to happen with someone slipping and getting their foot stuck in there (or children!). The toilet stalls had shower curtains. Which they should spare a few more dollars to install 2 curtains on the showers as well. Because of the temps outside and the moisture in the bathroom, there was water from floor to ceiling and all the counters were wet and very slippery. • Daily site is just a gravel parking lot on the road and a bit close together. Those sites are not part of the pictures above. • The RV park itself is outdated and have long term tenants which really messy surroundings. Oil cans, trash and rubbish items scattered around the sites. Looks like the park owners don't mind if the campers clean up after themselves… If it wasn't for the horrible bathrooms/shower I would had given this place a better rating. If you have everything in your rig and only spending a few days and are willing to pay $40-$45/night to park in a lot with hookups, this place will definitely be convenient and good for you. If you're like us and tend to visit RV park for their amenities, there are better ones elsewhere.

We only meant to stay a night or two to visit the caverns but wind and soreness made us wait another night. We paid for 50 amp hookups which put us in the upper loop (I think). The bath house was open air with shower curtains in front of the women's toilets and the showers open with no privacy at all. They were clean, though, with the trash collected frequently. RV spots were in very close proximity but there were plenty of empty tent spaces with grass and the like for the pups to poke around in. They offered a lot of coverage over their picnic tables, which was very nice. There were also trash carts spaced well so I never had to carry dog poop for very long.
Good for an overnight while visiting the Caverns

We stayed here two nights while visiting the Cavern in late June. You have to check in at the Gift shop or after 8pm, at the hotel. You have to check in at the Gift shop or after 8pm, at the hotel. There are signs telling you where to check in but they are small and hard to see. There are two areas to the park, a 30amp and 50amp section. The 30amp is very tight and I was warned that with slide outs I might not fit. I asked if I could have a spot in the 50amp and was given one. They will loan you a 50amp dog bone with a $30 cash deposit. All sites except the end sites share a common area, two picnic tables under one cover between the spaces. We did have a neighbor but never saw them. This park is full of mostly full timers and their rigs are not in the best of shape. Across from the RV park there is a hotel with a small water park. It costs $5 per person if you are a guest at the RV park. For the money it was well worth it. We really enjoyed the water slides and the pool. The main reason for staying here was the proximity to the Caverns. It is literally right at the entrance to the park. The road leading up to the caverns has some great views! We did go into Carlsbad for food and a drive in movie as well, it was about a 30 minute drive into town.
The point of staying here is to be close to the Caverns. This is not luxury.

It's the ONLY campsite at the entrance to the national park. We camped on the lower loop and the bathrooms left a lot to be desired. There was only one room that contained your shower, toilet, and sink with bugs and big black beetles that crawled in from under the crack in the door. I think that most people in the low camping section live there full time so the bathroom, thankfully, was never occupied. Not sure when their cleaning crew comes in (if ever) but I was getting nervous about the toilet paper running out. I was told the upper loop sites' bathrooms were in much better shape. There is full hook ups at the RV sites and a laundry room with machines that worked really well. The wifi was decent. One thing I did like about the campsites was that there is a full shelter over the picnic tables. We used the recycling bins at the entrance of the National Park to unload our plastics, aluminum, and glass. The trash at the campsite was overflowing and wasn't changed the two days we were there. On the corner is a credit-only gas station, small grocery, souvenir shop, hotel, and restaurant - if you need anything more than that (like alcohol or something other than junk food) you will have to drive 30 minutes in to the town of Carlsbad.
Great location, but a bit expensive.

I guess the location is the reason it's so expensive. We paid $36 a night with a Good Sam discount. The best part is that it's 7 miles from the Carlsbad Caverns National Park visitors center. The sites were pretty close, but we never had neighbors. Some of the permanent residents' trailers were falling apart. Literally. Also, there seemed to be dog poop everywhere. Not the parks fault, but it speaks to the crowd that stayed there.Wifi was decent.Password: happystay5.40 mbps down0.74 mbps up
