We stayed 1 night on our drive from CO to TX and seriously wish we spent longer. ABSOLUTELY beautiful setting, amazing cool weather, friendly campers and super helpful staff, full hook ups too. Lots of activities go on in the campground too, I saw they will be celebrating Christmas in July at the park too, how fun! They pick up your trash every morning, bathhouse is super clean, laundry room available and even a clubhouse with events almost daily. The only bonus they could add to the park would be a small dog park. I read on a fb forum that was a hidden gem, and that is absolutely true. We would love to come back to the park for a longer stay. The morning that we left, we did the hike up to the abandoned turquoise mine which was really cool to see. The hike itself was quite the hike, thought I was going to die but powered through and it was worth it!

Pendaries is a great campground, so good that we’ve stayed twice already. Beautifully surrounded by trees, we were able to hang a hammock and enjoy the breeze. You can also hike a nearby trail, and Hermit’s Peak is not too far.

The site is across from the park area giving it some beautiful views of the tall pines. Site 41 does get alot of sun in the afternoon. We used our awning. While we were there we had some afternoon rain showers which cooled things off and was less sunny because of partial cloud cover. We loved our stay and would like to have extended our stay, but the resort was booked. Site #41 has neighbors on each side, but was not too cramped. We felt it was spacious enough. We had good neighbors. We enjoyed having full hookups. We did hike up toward the turquoise mine. We had to turn back because of thunder and lightning. We were very near the mine. It is a steep hike most of the way. We reserved a site, #33, in September for seven days! We cannot wait to return. We will go back every camping season more than once. Loved it!

  • Amazing place, Friendly staff, Great shade.

Check in was easy and painless. Lady that checked us in very sweet. Super nice and helpful. Sites 28-40 backed up to the forest and it provided tons of space for the kids to run around and play but within sight. Laundry facility was nice. Did not use Bath house or Clubhouse.Kids are given a free scavenger hunt booklet. Kids can go around the designated trail finding and identifying animal tracks. If they get them all, they get a ice cream from the office. Its a nice little touch. We like this place as a good jumping off point for boondocking in the National Forest. Its about 30 minutes to a hour from near by campgrounds. Wifi would drop out on us a couple times but given the beautiful area, we didn't mind. Location has an abandoned turquoise mine nearby. Its just shy of a 2 mile hike uphill, but its unmistakable. Keep kids close if you take them to the mine. It is a steep hole in the ground. If you look around you may find some rocks with some turquoise. My wife found 3 small rocks with some little slivers of turquoise. Neat find. Overall, this was a great place.
