Carol was an excellent host. She gave us clear directions to get there. Had a lot of info on the Great Horned Owls that nest there. We even got to see one up close! It was so cool. Very close to Rockhound State Park for a couple of short hikes.

Awesome experience. Carrol gave great direction (kept us off a dusty dirt rd that google would have sent us down)Very friendly and showed us around, even though we only got in after dark.Older campground, exceptionally clean, very comfortable. Will definitely be back and stay longer to explore the area.
Very pleasant, level park. Close to Interstate but not noisy at all

We were met before the park entrance and shown to our spot and allowed to get settled in. Carol then showed up about an hour later and checked us in. We paid a crazy discounted rate nowhere near the number I posted above--I rtold her she'd never make any money and she just shrugged her shoulders and told us "It's all about the people". Beyond the lovely owner, the park itself is very pleasant with distant views of the mountains. The gravel lots are fairly close to each other, but not overly so so we didn't feel cramped. The plot was level and although not a pull-through, there's lots of room to maneuver.Decent cell signal (Verizon) plus provided WiFi. Really enjoyable stay, we would definitely stop by again.

If going east you can take 377 of 549 and avoid almost all of the washboard dirt road, if coming from the east this same route will add about 10 miles as you go past the site and have to come back. I opted to take the shorter route and did the 2.2 mile dirt road, it was pretty rough but passable. The site is clean, quiet and I even saw a roadrunner at the site. The park is mostly fenced in by wired fence but there's really no wildlife trying to get in the fence. What you do have to worry about are the large barn owls that can easily take out small pets. Carrol warned me about my little dog and I kept him on a short leash and only when I was outside. Spots are about a normal distance between rigs and most visitors are there for the night. Utilities are in excellent condition, trash is a stones throw away from the parking. There is a section that mostly has permanent residents but it's very clean and nice for a walk around with a dog. The park is pretty small and unless you leave the park you won't be getting a hike or long walk. There is free secured wifi and cell signal is good enough to not need a booster. The old house on the property can be viewed if you're interested. There's a nice TV room with electric fireplace, a book library to take or leave items, cheap and clean laundry, a restroom and shower if you need it.I'm only giving this 4 stars for location off 10 and the dirt road.

Easy to get to per directions received from park host via text. We stayed 2 nights in a pull through. Minimal effort to level. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Our AT&T ToGo had strong enough signal to stream. Our T-Mobile phones had full bars with our WeBoost.
Carol is the best camp host ever.

It is well maintained and the internet signal is strong. Nothing fancy here gravel lot with good quality hook ups rather standard park one next to the other but it is a small park so we didn’t feel crowded.. From here went went to Rock City and the Catwalk National Recreation Trail which is in a purple canyon above a wide stream... Fabulous food just over the border into Mexico. Left the truck in the parking lot on the American side and walked across.

We came in at dark and Carol, the camp hostess, met us at the gate. Her and some others helped us get settled in. Carol was very friendly, knowledgeable of the area, and quick to help with any questions we had. We drove downtown the morning after we got there and saw the other campgrounds. Most were just parking lot type. Made us realize how glad we were to be where we were. Our spot had shade trees and was next to the community building which had laundry room, pool table, tv room and workout room with basic equipment. WiFi was better than most other places we’ve stayed.

When I called to ask about the possibility of a site for overnight, Carrol answered the phone and warned us not to follow our GPS unless we wanted to drive 3 miles or so on gravel roads. Instead, she texted us with a map which kept us on paved roads until we reached the park.Don met us at the gate and followed us to our site where we sat at the picnic table to fill out all the paperwork. He also cued us in on the Great Horned Owl pair that reside at the park. The female is sitting on a nest and the male is keeping watch from a nearby tree. The site offered electricity and water, though we didn't bother to hook up the water. Cell service was average and over-the air TV was very limited. The free Wi-Fi, however was very strong. The park is just a short distance from I-10, which meant that we heard some traffic, but it wasn't a bother.Carrol stayed in touch with us via text, checking with us at the end of the day to make sure we had everything we needed. The next morning, I texted Carrol to let her know that we were about to leave. Don came over to read the electric meter and calculate our final bill. Note that they do not accept credit cards -- cash or check only. Carrol sent another text to caution us about the high winds predicted for the afternoon.I'm not sure this is a "destination" as we were just there for the night. We would stay here again for an overnight.

Carol, Camp Host, saw us coming, met us at the gate and directed us to our site. Not far off I10 as crow flies but I’d give a call for better directions in. (GPS sent us down a very wash-boardy road.) FHU, price reflects PA discount plus electric was metered. ($3.62 for 2 days/nights not running heater or air) Cute, cozy clubhouse with nice laundry. 1 large bathroom with roomy shower, the cleanest we’ve seen. Most folks here are long-timers, and they have the shady areas. Some I10 traffic noise and trains but wind was blowing the sound away. Not a problem for us. Wi-fi was slower than ours, able to stream easily with ATT hotspot. Otherwise, a pleasant stay and it’s obvious the owners and host have pride and work hard to provide a good experience.
