We had a great time even though we didn’t find enough to retire ;)Julie is fantastic. She’s welcoming, works off the honor system, and remembers your name. They have full hookups available, clean bathrooms/showers, a laundry room and internet that is finicky (at least at spot 10).As mentioned, we didn’t find an egg sized fire...moreWe had a great time even though we didn’t find enough to retire ;)Julie is fantastic. Where else can you treasure hunt in dirt? Craig is informative and helpful at the mine. It’s truly out in the middle of nowhere but the dirt road in is well maintained and scenic. We’d definitely go again.

  • Very nice park, wonderful showers for after a day of black opal mining

We usually only boondock, but we wanted to do the mining here. It is a wonderful park, clean, friendly, helpful, very well maintained. The showers(we used the old bath house, we were told the new ones were even nicer) were wonderful and well appointed after a day of digging in the dirt. We were at the mine when the owner came to tell us our dog was barking, she was so nice about it, told us we could bring our dogs to the dig site with us (which we did). We took our dogs a mile down the road and found a path to walk them off leash, we also visited the "warm" hot springs at the Virgin Valley Campground 8 miles back towards Denio, very pleasant. Long dirt road (30 plus miles) but to us it was very well maintained, were able to go between 30 - 40 mph most of the way.

  • We had a good time here camping and digging for opals.

You have to go here on purpose -- its in the middle of nowhere, but we had a blast digging for opals and meeting all the other folks there. Its not really an RV park, but more like a property on the mining site with hook ups. Everyone there except us has been to the Royal Peacock many times on their annual opal digging trips. If we were going through this part of Nevada again, I'd stay here -- especially in the summer. The road leading to the park is terrible -- it takes a really long time because it's unpaved and you have to go very slowly. We ended up shaking loose 2 cabinets.
