I’m not terribly fond of dry camping, but we had electric and that was sufficient because this is really an impressive place! There is water if you need it.The owners are so nice and helpful and they are working hard to fix the septic system so they can have full hookups or at least a dump station.Don’t let the drive several miles ...moreI’m not terribly fond of dry camping, but we had electric and that was sufficient because this is really an impressive place! There is water if you need it.The owners are so nice and helpful and they are working hard to fix the septic system so they can have full hookups or at least a dump station.Don’t let the drive several miles on a gravel road be off-putting. The road grader came by twice the week we were there! The serenity and landscape are worth the drive! They no longer have a restaurant, but there is a microwave and a coffee station set up in the saloon. They do offer several food items in the Mercantile Building, but it would be best to bring what you need.I would come back here again in a heartbeat!

We stayed here for one night (intended for two but had RV troubles at previous stop). We are in a 43ft fifth wheel. We almost turned around after the first mile & half on toadstool road. For us in a big rig, it was a miserable 5mph and the road is really rough. We almost turned around after the first mile & half on toadstool road. For us in a big rig, it was a miserable 5mph and the road is really rough. However, after that initial 1.5/2miles, it turns into a decent gravel road and we didn’t have trouble going 20mph with ease. The couple is nice and friendly and allowed us to choose where we wanted to set up. Cute place for kids.

Absolutely fantastic views and the hosts, Neal & Heather were gracious beyond compare. Our 28’ trailer fit perfectly across from the homestead and if you are looking for peace, quiet and solitude for the soul, this is the place. Road in is gravel but no ruts as it is a county maintained road. $20 per night with electric.
Quiet, Way out of the Way from the Hustle Bustle, Homestead Lifestyle atmosphere.

Out of the way, Unique, quiet, beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Heather and Neal are very knowledgeable to the area and can explain the life of "Homesteading" for the region. They are new owners but have a outlook that is just extraordinary. We will go back in due time just to be able to spend time in the life of the homestead. They are new owners but have a outlook that is just extraordinary. We will go back in due time just to be able to spend time in the life of the homestead. There is available a mercantile store, saloon, cafe, cabins, rooms, swimming pool. Pet friendly, kid friendly, lots of exploring available. This is a place way out away from everything if you are looking for a place to call "peaceful" this is it. No Sewers were available at the time we were there, but the owners plan on making them available in the future. We camped at High Plains Homestead in a Fifth Wheel.
