When we called for a reservation, we signed up for a full-hookup river spot and they asked what length motorhome and what class. We told them that is is a 34 foot, class A motorhome. We told them that is is a 34 foot, class A motorhome. We came in after-hours as pre-arranged and we’re told to take site #22. When we got there, the water was turned off so clearly was NOT a full-hookup site and then was told that we could get water from the upper campground but with our heavy rig could only go over their culvert one time but could camp looking at the back of their dilapidated office/house. When we asked for a partial refund because of no water and no River site, they only said that we could dump our RV waste at their RV dump free of charge…..Spent almost $300 for a 5 night stay. Bathrooms were only cleaned once during our stay. The sink had shaved beard-hair all over in it and a dirty toilet. Highway was right next to the property.

There is tubing and fishing along the river. At the river sites are partial hook up. One thing I found odd was that they charge their campers to use their dump station. Never have encountered that before. The campground is about 2 miles south of Hamilton, MT along Highway 93. There is some road noise due to proximity, but not heavily traveled. Pull throughs at the top portion of the campground are full hook up with some having 30 amp and some 30/50 amp. Power was not always consistent and sometimes dropped a little low.The camp store has a lot of things you might need from ice/drinks to trinkets and camping supplies. Wifi was mostly good. You could not stream in evening, but other times wifi supplied all our needs. Better than most campgrounds I have visited. There is a dog walk area, but nothing fenced. This campground still needs a little TLC, but overall a great location and good services.

Right on the river, at one of the more popular access points with great access to town and the surrounding area. It’s just unfortunate that the campground is as run down as it is. I’ve stayed here a few times now, I’m sure I’ll stay many more, I come to visit my hometown and to fish, and for those two things it’s great and really the only place to go. As for the campground though it’s got it’s issues, none that are deal breakers but issues none the less. The location along the river is ideal, they have a mix of partial and full hookup sites. The sites along the river are great and if you only need power and water for a few days they are beautiful places to park and enjoy the river. Maybe not ideal for the largest rigs though as it’s a little tight down around the trees. The sites up top are mostly full hookup and half are “pull thru”, more like pull thru and turn around in a grass field but it works. There are few trees up top and you are fairly close to your neighbors, I’d say about average amounts of room compared to other places, I just wish they had some more trees and space. It is Montana after all, that’s what I’m here for. My only real complaint is that the place is quite run down. The shower facilities are in sad shape in desperate need of an update and about half the sites didn’t have water working. Granted, it is the end of winter but some sites have heated water taps and others don’t, some have heated taps but still weren’t on, really no reason or method to figuring out which ones worked, just ask I guess. I ended up filling my 5 gallon jugs to fill up the water tank, so it was ok, just not ideal. They have a good general store, coin-op laundry on site, and propane. All are sufficient, but again, a bit run down. Cell coverage is good, both Verizon and AT&T work well as expected. Overall if you are in Hamilton or the surrounding area and love to fly fish I’d recommend it but don’t expect great facilities, just a great location and the basics for the campground.
