We enjoyed our stay at Mark Twain Cave campground. The sites were level and large. Lots of grass and open space. Very quiet. No wifi and Verizon was spotty. We really enjoyed the town of Hannibal. The Mark Twain museum complex is great as well as the shops on Main Street. Also some nice walking trails nearby. Lots of birds.

We booked it due to location on this leg on the trip, and the positive reviews we had read. It looks like a newer campground, and they are continuing to work on it. The facilities are new, and look really nice. We were here “off season,” and the campground was not very busy. We had a nice meal at a brewery in town Mark Twain Brewery, of course). The town is interesting, with a pretty clear separation between the “old” and “new” parts. It was a little tricky making the turn into the campground from the road; a pretty sharp turn right after a bridge, with not-too-good signage. If we hadn’t been tracking with our GPS, I think we would have driven past. Our site was not very level.

We had a back on site that was easy to locate and level. Bathhouse was OK but the lens side was not cleaned often. The laundry room was nice. WIFI was pretty good except during the storms (which even then I was kind of impressed with the connection). I have Verizon and had almost no service at our site. We visited the winery on the property and I’m not much of a wine person but the Wine Slushies are absolutely great!

I needed an Amazon delivery and the staff was very helpful in arranging it.The on-site winery has tastings, by the glass and by-the-bottle purchases of Missouri wines at reasonable prices. Again, the staff was cheerful and very helpful in helping customers select wines that were palate-pleasing for each customer's taste.A little more crowded than I'd hoped, but the rates are fair for such tight quarters. There are a large number of WiFi hotspots scattered throughout the park, but still the WiFi experience is poor. This is an issue because on our AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon phones we had zero bars. (Think about it: the campground in literally in a "hollow." There are no cell antennas!) But the WiFi in the winery, the sandwich shop, and the gift shop is more than adequate for email and light work.

We enjoyed the cave tour (additional $78 for our family of 4), walking in the stream on site, watching fireflies, and driving a mile down the road to see Lover’s Leap. We loved the history of the town and how it all ties Mark Twain / Tom Sawyer and the caves all together. Would stay again, but definitely in a different site.

This campground has a nice mix of campsites for tents all the way to big rigs. Bathrooms were clean. You can also check out the Mark Twain Cave or another cave while you are there. The Mark Twain Cave is an easy cave to walk through and fun. We would stay at this site again if visiting Hannibal.

There is no vegetation between sites but they are reasonably spaced. Since we were visiting just for the night, I chose to save a few bucks but FHU are only $5 more. There are water spigots spread around and 2 dump stations conveniently located just as you leave the park. There are several pull-through sites and everything from dry camping to electric tent to FHU. There was hardly any activity at the cave (on the left just before the campground office as you enter) and the amusement park across the street was closed. Some weather had just come through as we arrived so the internet was down of course and never really seemed to recover although the office said someone was working on it. There was essentially zero cell signal either as US Cellular is the local service. Eventually we got some AT&T service with a booster but very slow. OTA TV was very limited as well, I think limited to PBS which was fine. Hannibal had some cute sections. We found RV parking in the riverboat lot at the levee on Center Street but there is other public parking around downtown. A trolly bus that runs daily from downtown to the cave/campground as an alternative to taking the RV in. Overall a pleasant stay and fun to explore a section of the Mississippi River I hadn't seen before.

The staff at the rv park & caves are super friendly. It is a smaller rv park but once we took our car off the dolly it was fine. If you need WIFI——— they have the best we’ve ever experienced. We got so much work done after site seeing.

The property has large old trees throughout and is surrounded by an undisturbed forest, providing an extremely peaceful and restful experience. Sites are large and extremely well maintained with level gravel pads and excellent services (the sewer connections looked new; electricity was excellent and water pressure was outstanding), and are separated from other sites by well maintained grassy areas. Staff is excellent - friendly, efficient and helpful.I just can’t say enough about the campground. We’ll definitely stay here again - next time for several days while we explore the area.

Our site was plenty long for our motor home and Jeep. It was level and had a picnic table and fire ring. Water and electric were in the back and sewer about halfway up. Very small playground. Plenty of grass for the dog. Lots of families and the kids played games in the grassy areas and rode bikes. Laundry room has 2 washers and 2 dryers. $2.5 for a washer and 2.25 for 45 min on a dryer. Mark Twain Cave tour was fun. The sandwich shop was good. Close to town. Quaint Main Street and you can walk on the levee to see the river. Also good view of the river from lovers leap. No Verizon service except in town. Internet was horrible until 3/4 of the park cleared out. Then it was good. No over the air tv but got dish to work after several tries.

Very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was here. Very clean, well kept park. We were in F area in back by the creek. Caves were cool too. We had a relatively spacious spot with a great fire pit. Have an extra fresh hose because water is way back of site while sewer is mid site preventing you from going too far back.

I travel to Hannibal each year for the Single Stack Nationals handgun match across the river in Barry, IL, but have never stayed in a campground before. Glad I found this one, and it will be my destination for the next years as well! The Mark Twain Caves complex is a family-owned tourist attraction in Hannibal, including the campground, which is nestled in trees between the Mississippi River and Fall Creek. We were there in early May so there were fewer than a dozen rigs in the whole property. The sites are large and spaced out, and you can choose from shaded to open.Located only a mile from downtown Hannibal - home to a young fella you might know as Mark Twain - the C/G is a great spot if you want to spend a day or two reliving history, whether real or imagined. The local trolley company comes into the campground, on its tour around the city, so you can use it to see the sights. Hookups include electric, water and sewer, and the only downside I saw to the C/G was the spacing of the utilities. Water and Electric were more than 30' from the sewer, so we had to carefully park the rig so we could reach both. Other than that, it is a great destination, and they even have ice cream in the camp store.

  • A fun touristy kinda C/G very suitable to the Tom Sayer/Huck Finn nostalgia of the area
