If you’re looking for privacy, this place is it. The sites are small and it was very challenging to accommodate a large rig like ours. We had a 42 footer and was told site 2 would fit. When we arrived, it was very difficult to make it into the lot. But, when we finally made it in, all was good. There is not internet service, only in the lodge; however, we were close enough to get some sort of limited connection in certain areas of our RV. If you have a big rig, I’d recommend reserving site 4 and 5 together, and pay the extra $10 upcharge. It’ll be worth the headache - trust me! This still isn’t bad if you’re looking to be surrounded by trees and have that extra privacy- which I so appreciate and love! There’s a lot of beautiful trails to hike. Flour lake is literally right in the back of the lodge, but I don’t think there’s fishes there. We rented the pontoon for a half day and caught nothing- literally nothing…no nibbles or sign of anything. It was a bit disappointing. It could’ve just been a bad day for fishing though. This place is about 45 min from the center of Grand Marais so you’ll want to ensure you have enough gas and the address pulled up on your maps app before heading through the scenic route or else you will lose cell service. Also, get there before dark. This place is surrounded by trees and it will be difficult to set up in the dark. Surprisingly, mosquitoes were minimal but it could just have been timing since we went in late-Sept. One last suggestion- if you have a big rig and planning to reserve site 2 or 4 and 5 together, drive into these sites before you check in. Or, you’ll end up having to make a tight u-turn out. These sites entrances are tight and the only feasible way to make it in are from the front entrance (or trees will get in the way). Both of these sites are the first ones on the right as you enter the driveway so pull in before checking in. The office is then only a short walk (1-2 minutes max).

Fountain this place looking at Passport America directory. Was able to use PA to bring cost down to $18.50 per night by calling ahead. (Their PA requirement was drive up only, that I missed in the reading) Normally the campground is constantly full but there was a last minute cancellation and due to slower traffic in mid Sept they let us make a same day reservation. That is good because it is a long drive from Grand Marais, almost to the Boundary Waters, and there is no way we would have driven in to maybe get a site otherwise. So glad we came! What a cute and rustic lodge with a screened in porch right on the lake. Rented a kayak and saw loons, beautiful sunsets. Lawn chairs to enjoy the lake view. Clean, level site, but a little too close to neighbor for us, but in a wooded setting. Water and electric at site, dump station. Fire pit.Garbage collected up by 6pm to keep bears in the woods, which is fine with us. Showers and bathroom nearby. September a great time to come. May even rent a cabin right on the lake next time. $5/ pet/ night fee.
