We usually don’t consider KOA because they are generally too expensive for what we need them for but this KOA has water/electric sites for $30. Keep in mind you can’t choose which site number you get. This is a new KOA so they are still transitioning from an RV park and are sprucing up the campground to KOA standards. Do not expect anything glamorous. The improvements appear to be gradual. I feel like the main building would need to be renovated to truly makes themselves a proper KOA.But as for the campground itself, the campsites are close together. The chalky gravel campsites and roads are raked everyday. They do roadside trash pickup throughout the day. I observed them come by twice a day. I think there are 7 individual shower rooms. The restrooms are attached to the main office building (like the showers). I mention that because the map we were given doesn’t indicate where the restrooms are but to be fair the office staff told us where they were. The showers and restrooms are alright. The campers make them gross but I see the staff cleaning everything on schedule around noon everyday. There’s a laundry room which is very clean. The washers are $2 and the dryers are $1 for 40 minutes. There’s a playground. A swimming area on the lake. There’s a trail that goes around the lake. The KOA has well stocked doggy poop bags and trashcans along the trail. Oh! The camp store has ice cream, general food stuffs, fishing tackle and will accept packages. Internet. Verizon via iPhone 12 via a weBoost signal booster (because I forgot to turn it off): 22 mbps down and 3 mbps up with 29 ms ping; T-Mobile via Nighthawk MR1100 via weBoost: 36 mbps down and 19 mbps up with 46 ms ping.

This campground is a mess. Roads need serious gravel, everything is a mess of mud, dirt, and puddles. Picnic tables are old and rotting, no concrete or gravel patios at sites. Roads need serious gravel, everything is a mess of mud, dirt, and puddles. Picnic tables are old and rotting, no concrete or gravel patios at sites. Restrooms have a broken hand dryer and no towels most of the time. Several of the showers don’t work properly and you can only turn on hot or cold water, but not a mix of both. Showers 3 and 5 are safe and functional. On the bright side, this is a great place for families on the weekends. The slide and swim area are packed, and we spent hours out on our paddle boards on the water. The trail around the lake is also nice. But all in all, not worth it. This place needs some serious work.

When we inquired about the water slide we were told it wasn’t open during the week days because they don’t have enough kids and staff there during that time frame to make it worthwhile. We also asked about playing miniature golf and was told it was closed because the wood was rotted and they didn’t want someone getting hurt on it. So those two advertised features we could not use. The outside showers all had signs on them, ‘closed’ .. there were 2 inside working showers. The outside bathroom was clean, but it only had 1 hand dryer that wasn’t working. Our last day there was a paper towel roll on the counter top. The office closed at 5:00 pm, so no walking up to the store for an after dinner ice cream. Also, we didn’t notice any after hour vending machines (opportunity for them to make some extra $?) We also thought their price for firewood was a little high $8/bundle when we’ve seen the same elsewhere for $5.00 … Visitor fee was $5.00 for each visitor. On a positive note the walk around the lake is very nice as well as fishing. Grand daughter was able to learn how to fish.

  • Stayed here to visit Henry Ford Museum and replenish resources before heading north.

We are a 39’ rig that doesn’t turn tight and he helped accommodate on the approach to our site. They were busy grading the gravel road and sites. It was dusty. There is more grass in between sites if you get out from under the trees. We did not use the bathhouse or any other facilities. Seems to be more long term campers on the far side. Once all returned from the days work or adventures, it was quiet.

This former KOA was operated independently for several decades, and is now a KOA again, renamed Detroit Ann Arbor KOA.Hopefully, new management will make this park live up to its potential.

  • Ok campground, but not a great value. We would not stay in the trees again.

Plenty of shade in the trees if it is sunny and hot. We would consider a site in the open area if we are back there again. Restrooms and showers were free and in great shape. We were there over Labor Day 2017. They did have a DJ as well as a BBQ on the weekend. Overall not a great value.

The sites are mostly under tree canopy and all dirt. It rained so it was muddy. There was a nice patch of grassy sites that I would have preferred but was not given. There also appears that there a number of people who live here full-time and there campsites show it. The campground is situated on a small lake. They have a beach area (no sand) and a cool water slide that you get three free slides with campground admission. After that it's $5 for the day. There is a laundry room but three machines were out of order and looked like that they have been for a few years. The change machines were out of order as well. There's a small game room and a store with a few items. Camping World and Walmart were down at the next exit on the freeway.
