Found a place to turn around and forked out money to stay at a local resort. Beware!!!!

When we arrived the campground manager told me the site was not available because it was basically in an RV site. He also said they don’t actually have tent sites at all and had asked the owners to take the listings down but they refused. He walked us down to a grass field no where near a lake and said we could use that. On top of the $85 we paid using a shady camp registration app the manager had me also pay $5 for a park entrance fee. The field also had no picnic tables, pretty basic for a camp site. We started to put up the tent and realized the field is where the RV campers take their dogs to do their business. We called around to a few Lodges in the area and found one cancellation and booked the $160 room, packed our gear back into the car and left the dog poop field. Even for an RV only park it seemed pretty crowded, and they only had one shower working. There are a ton of campgrounds in the area and you are definitely better off at one of those.

He was helpful though and gave us the parking pass based on our confirmation email. As we drove into the campground we were greeted by two overflowing garbage dumpsters. No one else - no owners or campers present. Mostly seasonal sites. Road to sites hilly and narrow. Very difficult to maneuver into site. We damaged our truck attempting. Site littered with cement/cinder blocks. A building had one side covered in tarp and a pile of wood on the other. Appeared to be a stalled project. The overall impression we had of it was cluttered and poorly maintained. We decided to risk eating the $250 and drove away at 7pm to find another campground. We do not recommend Presque Isle Campground. Instead, check out Lower Gretchen State Forest Campground (beautiful but no hook up) or Camp Holiday (pristine, full hook up).
