We really enjoyed our stay there. Cell phone service was great and I was able to work with ATT. Nice neighbors and the view of the ocean was awesome!

The Moorings has 8 direct oceanfront sites with no one between you and the water. Even the second row pull through sites have a good ocean view because front row sites are well spaced apart. All of these sites are had to get and book up way in advance. ATT cell phone service variable, but I usually could make calls and stream. WIFI usually good during the day for streaming, but was not usable some late afternoons and evenings due to high use. No ATT service in downtown Belfast, poor service near Hannaford’s market and other establishments at the major intersection of routes 1 and 3.This campground has major pros but also major cons that pulled my rating down to 4. Pros: (1) Wide ocean vista of northern Penobscot Bay, islands and hills. Outstanding in every way in every weather. (2) Fun to explore rocky beach a half-tide or lower. And swimming in the usually cold ocean. (3) Excellent water, and electric. Your sewer hose will most likely run uphill. Cable TV system has adequate number of channels but many are letterboxed and picture is not HD. (4) Husband and wife managers are top notch, as are the workcamper staff. They provide excellent maintenance and all really care that you have a nice time. They went out of their way to help me on more than one occasion. (5) The town of Belfast 10 minutes away. Unlike many Maine coast towns, it has not been totally given over to tourism and has an old time somewhat gritty feel. I like it better than Bar Harbor or Camden, for example. Much less busy. There are some pretty good restaurants and a few interesting shops. (6) Not a party place. Most people are there to enjoy the view, rocky beach, their family and perhaps their camping neighbors. NOT A PLACE FOR KIDS – THEY WILL BE BORED! Cons: (1) No privacy between sites because there are no trees. The only trees are on the sides of the campground. You will be living with your neighbors and they with you. (2) Smoky fires galore. Campground sells wood and delivers it to your site. Either people don’t know how to build a hot fire or the wood is not well seasoned, but many an evening I breathed in much more smoke than I wanted. Neighbor’s fire ring will likely be close to your RV. (3) Almost all sites are off level, some much so. If you go in and out in your small motorhome or van like I do, it will take more time than it should to relevel when you return. (4) Dust and mud from roads. Minimal gravel on roads and sites causes more dust and dirt than there should be. (5) Not a “resort” in spite of claiming to be (I knew this from past stays). There is no clubhouse, snack bar, pool, tennis, bocce, shuffleboard, pickleball, dog park, no scheduled activities, and minimal planned events. Roads and sites are not paved. Dumpster emptied once a week and overflowed with trash the last two days of that week. (6) Noisy and sometimes large groups, worst late afternoons and evenings. This was not a constant occurrence during my stay but did happen regularly. The bottom line: I will return because the pros outweigh the cons most of the time.
Well maintained beachfront property with friendly and attentive staff.

Great waterfront location for beach access. We had a large pull through site with all hookups. Note that bathrooms and laundry are closed during COVID-19.
We loved it
