The rates are reasonable, the staff is very helpful, they take good care of the grounds, it's well lit, and they have good security. The laundry room is really nice. You will find some older and unsightly rigs here; the roads are torn up in places and get huge puddles when it rains. However, they got the pumps right out and drained most of the water quickly. Some of the pads have shade trees and are well paved. Some (like ours) do not have shade, and the pad is cracked an uneven. The Mississippi River is right across the street although you have to drive a bit to find a place where you can climb the levee. There are no sidewalks - and I don't recommend walking outside the park. However, most of New Orleans area attractions are a 20-30 minute drive away. That's worth the price!

Careful! We had to make a couple of u-turns to find the entrance. No surprises for a KOA. Back in, FHU, level. Not much space. Nice neighbor and helpful staff. Close to New Orleans airport and interstate to NO, Trolly to downtowns still is not running.

We choose a KOA as we go to McDonald's: we expect a standard. Cement and level grounds are appreciated, but it's a tight, the entrance is not easy to find and the dog park is non-existent. We hear what seems to be gunshots all night long. But the staff are helpful and a long cycle path nearby is appreciated.

  • Packed in close to your neighbors.

This place is pretty run down, with tiny spaces and the spots are all very crammed together. Trains can be heard all day and sometimes during the night. Typically I would have only left this place a 2 star review but due to our situation, the staff gets them an extra two stars. The local state park evacuated all of their campground guests and we had to scramble to find a place to stay at 4:00 in the afternoon. When I called the park, the woman who answered the phone was very friendly and helped us reserve a spot for us and ensured that she held a spot for another couple we were traveling with. When we arrived at the park, the check in staff were organized, friendly, and very helpful. They made a very stressful situation, much less stressful. We won't likely return to this park due to the expensive prices and limited facilities but the staff definitely deserve some kudos!

On the plus side there is a very well equipped campground store with basic food items, camping supplies and souvenir items. The staff were very helpful with recommendations of how to get into New Orleans, cheap parking, what to see, etc. Another plus was the laundry building was new, clean and comfortable. The location is not the greatest neighborhood, but ok. It was 20 min. to the French Quarter, but the campground offers a free shuttle, which was one of the main reasons I booked here. It turns out the shuttle only leaves at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm from the campground with one pickup leaving NOLA at 5:45 pm. 9am is much earlier and 5pm is much later than I'd want to get into NOLA, so we never used the shuttle. That was a bummer. There were sites in the center of the campground that had concrete slabs. We were on a smaller side site that was gravel, with a small mound of grass between the next site. It was muddy and unappealing. However, the site did have full-hook up and plenty of room to back-in to the site. The bathrooms and showers were on the back side of the office building. Each shower had it's own locking door, but these showers have seen better days. There was a smell in the shower area I couldn't quite identify, but it was a huge turn off. And last but not least, there was train noise day and night.

  • Typical older park run by KOA. Hi priced. Ok, but not great facilities.

We stayed here on our way to Florida so I could spend a day in the WWII museum. We did go down to Bourbon street one night for some dinner, good jazz, and cold beer.Nothing more for us in New Orleans so we do not plan to return to the big easy.

The price is steep for what the park is but we chose this place for safety, knowing we could go downtown and explore while our rig stayed safe was huge and for the fact that they have a daily shuttle so we didn't need to worry about parking. The park is right in the middle of a neighborhood and spots are tight. There are trains often running and the park is also in a flight path. The staff are great. They even let us check in super early on the day we arrived so we could catch their 9am shuttle. We got two full days in NO because of this and it was great. Shuttle driver was great as well. The shuttle drops off at the Natchez Steamboat ticket booth and the ride is 45min-hour each way.Pros and cons for sure but we were fine with the situation.

This is a fine campground. Quite overpriced for what it is and the location, but in a pinch it works. The sites are very close together, but they’re well maintained.

We were in New Orleans for 3 weeks for hubby's work. We spent the last week here. This was our first KOA campground. It was very nice and clean with ample laundry and showers. Everyone was very nice. Eric did get in trouble for driving too fast!

It's about 20 minutes from the French Quarter and KOA provides a free shuttle at 9am and 5pm to the city and at 5:45pm back to the campground. We never took the shuttle, instead driving to town and finding cheap daily parking garages. The staff was extremely friendly. The sites are a little narrow, but plenty long. We had no trouble fitting our 37' RV and toad with plenty of space. The sites have concrete patios and picnic tables. There is a 'back yard' of grass behind the sites which provides a little extra space, and a fenced dog park. We didn't have much luck with their WiFi, it was either slow or difficult to get on, but we had great signal with Verizon and AT&T for our hotspot. There are trains that pass through the area regularly, including at night. The train conductors are liberal with their horns, so it might be tough for a light sleeper. We did like this campground and would stay here again if we were in the area. It's a good compromise of price and location, much cheaper than staying in the French Quarter, but still easy and fast to get into town for sight seeing. The best part for us was that right across the street was the Mississippi Trail, a paved walking/biking trail with large grassy shoulders where we walked our dogs every day.
