We picked this campground to stay in while we visited Charlottesville. The site we had was very tight ,dirt and muddy site and very not level. The bathhouse was close and clean. This campground is not very convenient to Charlottesville and is out in the middle of nowhere.

Lots to do for kids and adults, like a giant jumping pillow and a huge chessboard. Well maintained and quiet at night. Only thing we didn’t like is there are no street lights. Once it’s dark it is DARK!

While a number of the facilities were shut down we still enjoyed our stay here. We were able to kayak on the lake and walk in the woods. Others were able to fish the lake. The owners, a multi-generational family who recently took over the campground, made us feel safe and welcome at all times. Once government restrictions are lifted this would be a great place for a family with kids to come on a vacation. They have a bounce pad, mini golf, and two beaches! The campground is located in the Virginia Piedmont so there are some changes in elevation in the campground and the owners have retained all of the mature trees. That means that many of the sites have nice shade, but it also means that it will take some effort to get level. I think that is a reasonable trade-off.The new owners are a three-generation operation and they are working so hard to upgrade the campground. Everyday they were all hard at work cleaning up sites, building a nature trail, painting buildings, upgrading the electrical service, etc. The nice thing is that they live permanently on-site, so your problem is their problem as well. So they address them asap.

This was closest campground to our activity. We have young teenagers and there were many things about this campground they would enjoy in warmer months. Two swim beaches, inflatables in the water to swim to, a small pool, mini golf, large chess set, jump pillow, fishing, canoe and kayak rentals. I believe the campground also holds events such as rides on a fire truck, corn hole tournaments, and such. There is also a small camp store. The bathhouse was clean and certainly met our needs. There was individual rooms with a private sink, toilet, and shower. Our only issue is individual site quality. The campground packs campers in a tight as they can. Privacy is at the top of our list of wants and this campground majorly failed in this area. Also, most sites aren't anywhere near level. Our site didn't have a fire ring but the sites around us did. There are long term residents living full time in the campground as well as seasonal campers left there all summer. I had Verizon cell service. The campground has WIFi which works best by the camp store. It only randomly worked from our site.

We found the campground not quite as glowing as depicted on the website, perhaps because we were there on the off season. Bathrooms were OK, but it looked like a lot of full timers are parked there year round. We'd stay there again, but only if we had to.
