Rate paid was with PA discount for non-holiday days.I can’t think of any reason to remove a star for this campground. It just about perfectly matches my idea of the ideal campground for kids. It isn’t big and showy, but offers lots of play and fun activities that can keep them busy for more than a day or 2. Bottom line is that we will make the trek to this seemingly out of the way location to vacation in the future and you should too. The difference between this campground and others was evident from the time we checked in - the owners went over the rules in detail and we had to agree to them in order to stay there. This seemed a little unusual at first, but if you’ve experienced the loud drunks next door partying into the night while your child is trying to sleep or the overwhelmingly loud music the neighbors rock out to while you’re sitting outside trying to converse without screaming at each other then you will appreciate the focus on and enforcement of their rules. If you need loud music and rowdy partying to have fun or you want a more “adult” atmosphere then this place isn’t for you. Facilities:* Restrooms are some of the cleanest we’ve seen* Child-focused games available* Nice beach with swimming area roped off* Sand mound to play on* Sand volleyball, horseshoes, a couple play sets with swings, pavilion, etc.Nearby:* Small Amish community* Waterloo and Cedar Falls (45 min drive) have restaurants, shopping, and an interesting downtown area* Oelwein is the nearest small town and has a great little restaurant* Fish hatchery about 1 hour north* Eagle nest with babies (summer 2019) by fish hatchery* Various other day-trip opportunities We really didn’t expect to enjoy this place as much as we did. You should check it out!
