Old and on its last legs...that being said we liked it for what it is and it was really nice and quiet for being on the Main Drag. Sure trucks and OHV came through town, but we were not there for the quiet. Chris the new owner told us how they just took over and where going to upgrade all the sites with new power and gravel, and up grade the showers and bath house...these areas were old but clean and worked well. Hard to believe but right next door was an excellent Thai restaurant...who would think out in the middle of nowhere.

We had reservations because of the recent high demand but the park was only about half-full. Jim, the owner, welcomed us, let us choose any of his empty sites and assured us that the best mechanic in the state was just a block away. We visited the mechanic to introduce ourselves and see if he would be able to help us - he was. When we returned Jim invited us to a quick-draw demonstration he would be giving after dinner - it is the "Old West" RV Park after all. Jim is a competitive quick-draw artist and does a short demo using blanks and styrofoam cups - ear plugs were provided. The WiFi was very good despite a weak signal where we were parked - we were able to watch Netflix. Right next door is a very good Thai restaurant which we tried and liked. The park is right on the highway through town and has lots of traffic, including 18-wheelers but it dies way down after about 10pm and starts slowly at about 5 or 6am. Not horrible. We drove to the Needles section of the Canyonlands National Park which is only about 50 miles with lots of very interesting terrain - canyons and trees after you get off the highway (191).

Small, quiet, quaint RV park. Owner puts on a quick draw show for campers , very nice. Large rig friendly. In the middle of town, easy access. Close to Arches and Canyonlands. Only drawback was traffic on 191 and heat wave that hit.

The owner Jim goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. Very friendly. We felt much more like guests than customers. He said he closes for winter, but people called so he opened up. He plowed the camp before we arrived. One other camper with us. Heated water spouts for winter. Spot was level without adjustment. Wifi, restrooms, showers. TV antenna picks up more channels and had better reception than cable at a campground in Moab.

Because of the impending snowfall, and the dirt road leading into the rest area, I opted to rent. On the way into monticello I checked out the very nice national forest Campground. It was nice and empty, but was too cold and windy. I went on to the Old west rv park, second rv park on the right. It was just a small little place with cabins, back in sites or pull through. Because I am set up for dry camping and winterized, Jim (owner) charged me only 20, because I did not need to hook up. I was the only one there, so he set me up next to the heated bathrooms. The shower was hot and delicious. The townspeople were nice. I wanted to go to canyonlands national park., but 5 miles out of town the visibility dropped under a quarter mile. Deciding that there was a difference between want and should, I turned around and hung out with my rpod while it snowed and snowed. I don't regret the trip because of the scenery through the Navajo reservation. I took the long way at 15 mph below the speed limit. I drove for more than three hours reminding myself to breathe. I recommend this route to any and all.

Host lives offsite yet came around in morning to check on us and gave a recommendation up the road for great breakfast burritos!! Was able to get a spot here for 3 days despite the early fall crush. Easy from here to visit Canyonlands, Arches, Bears Ears, Hovenweep, Canyons of the Ancients and all the lovely land in between. Mesa Verde is also within reach -- just over an hour to Cortez Colorado where there are RV repair places and marijuana is legal (just saying) and then another 40 minutes to the Mesa Verde entrance. It's in town, but it's not a busy town, and you're in walking distance to several restaurants, the hardware store, the supermarket and the liquor store (just saying). This place was great for a home base for our 25-ft trailer. Pros: - Great location- Friendly- Washer + Dryer + Showers- Price - very cheap for this season and area at $36/nightCons: - Small spaces, only a couple of pull-throughs. We had to back up, to the great amusement of the regulars.- High water pressure be sure to use a regulator (for sale at $15 at the front desk)

We rolled in unannounced and were greeted immediately. We had our pick of available spots and the attendant helped us back in. The crew provided us with some possible places to eat. The owner is a exhibition gun shooter and is eager to share his experiences with you!Full hookups for a median price. Would recommend!

The only negative I saw was that in site 15 the sewer connection was as high or higher than the sewer outlet on the motor home. Highway noise was minimal, didn't even notice it at night.

A great place to plug in. Jim Brandt, owner, gifted me his exhibition shooting DVD. Close to Canyonland Needles park entrance. Clean rest rooms and hot showers. I would have no problems returning when my travels bring me back this way.

We used it as a base to explore Canyonlands - Needles Division. The park is very small but has 3 or 4 pull through sites that could accommodate larger rigs. We didn't use the washrooms because we had full hookups. The sewer connection is a bit higher than the spot so the water has to go uphill, kind of strange but we made it work. The owner is very nice and friendly and even gave us a complimentary DVD showing his shooting skills... really fun and really "old west".

This park was the cheapest and he offered a $30 cash price ($33 regular). He had electric for us which was nice considering the 13 degree low last night. He isn't typically open in the winter but keeps the electric on for those of us brave souls who may want to stay. Friendly guy, location is right off the highway, big spots for any size rig. We chose this park since it is very convenient to Moab (an hour away) plus Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The local golf course is only a couple of blocks south of the RV park. The park host was very friendly and very accommodating to our needs. The RV park is fine for a few days, but do not think we would stay again in the future. He does have laundry access ($1.00 per load) plus shower and restroom facilities. Our spot was a pull through with full hookups (no cable TV). We did have a good selection of over the air channels. The sewer connection was a bit odd since the hookup was higher than the camper (we ended up emptying the tanks before we left the park before unhooking). We spent most days sightseeing so it was fine for staying overnight. My husband did not like the shower set up since it was in a separate room than the toilet/sink area. The local visitors center is next door so it is handy for picking up brochures, etc. The park does have free Wifi which worked most of the time. We did have one night during our stay where it would not work, but the park was full so that may have been the cause.
