Nice KOA on one of the beautiful lakes of Michiana. Nicely Setup, well put together for the winter months, and awesome staff. We would have loved to spend more time here in the summer. The campground itself had only just been recently taken over by KOA and there are a lot of areas of the camp that show obvious improvements. Pros: Beautiful, Location (Right off i69 and US-20, AND so very very close to all of the major RV Manufacturers), Good Cell Signal( BUTTTTT)Cons: Road Noise (Close to a major HWY), Crappy Cell service Speeds.

Great family atmosphere and plenty to do for little ones. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Our only complaint was how tight our site was. We had a spot right on the lake (which was wonderful), but it took quite a bit of maneuvering to get into our space. We weren’t the only ones to struggle. All of the sites were tight unless you had a small camper. We would definitely come back with our kids for a weekend if it weren’t so far away from home!

The owners take excellent care of the property and you can tell they’re continually reinvesting in maintenance and upgrades. They have a new pool and lazy river which is fantastic. There’s an inflatable obstacle course on the lake. They have docks, pontoon rentals and a launch if you wish to bring your own boat. Someone mentioned in a previous review that it’s not big rig friendly. We did not find that to be the case. There were numerous class A units staying in the spacious pull through sites. The only drawback is the traffic noise if you’re staying in any of the sites near the front of the park. I definitely recommend this campground if you’re looking for a place to stay in the Angola area.

Our $44 campsite was for water and electric only. Although, I think cable was available , we just didn’t hook up to it. The site itself was ok. Picnic table had pealing paint and soil was very sandy. No cement pad or stones, all sand and grass. The fire ring was located in an unusual place, ie, right outside our bedroom door. It looked like it had been moved there very recently, as there was still grass in and around the ring. We didn’t make a campfire. The camp store was nicely stocked and had some killer ice cream! Yum! The roads in the park are very nicely maintained and they were nicely paved. My one and only complaint about the park is that the water appeared to have a lot of iron in it and it smelled kind of bad.

However, despite calling ahead to verify that it was big rig friendly (44' Class A), it wasn't. When we pulled up, we thought it looked ok based on a section directly in front of us that looked like nice long/wide pull throughs. For whatever reason, though, they put us into a gated section that was EXTREMELY tight. The asphalt path was just wide enough for the MH, but the turns and trees along the path required us to stray off the path frequently. There were also a ton of folks with golf carts and bikes, which by itself isn't bad, but when you couple it with the narrow 1-way roads, driving a car back to our site in the evening felt very dangerous, like an accident waiting to happen. The site itself was unlevel enough where leveling took our front tires off the ground, and the sewer connection was about 9 inches above ground. Even with one of those extendable hose ramps, we were still flowing uphill at the end. There's plenty of grass around, but it was very sandy, and we found ourselves sweeping constantly. Lots of partying, which again is fine, as our rig is pretty well insulated. But if yours isn't, and you're not into that type of thing, you may have noise issues at night. Coupled with an inability to get AT&T or Verizon connections (we have jetpacks for both and work from the road), we felt the need to leave a day early. We would consider a single overnight stay if they could guarantee us a spot in the section we saw in front of check-in and didn't need a connection. Other than that, however, we won't stay for an extended period and certainly not in the gated section again.

Let me say first, we usually stay in State Parks. This campground is now called KOA Hogback Lake. It is mostly seasonal campers. Campsites are tightly packed together. The paint was peeling so bad on our picnic table we couldn’t use it for fear of getting jabbed with paint chips. They advertise they have WiFi, but even with our booster...moreLet me say first, we usually stay in State Parks. This campground is now called KOA Hogback Lake. It is mostly seasonal campers. Campsites are tightly packed together. The paint was peeling so bad on our picnic table we couldn’t use it for fear of getting jabbed with paint chips. They advertise they have WiFi, but even with our booster, there wasn’t enough bandwidth to check email, or the weather channel app. The ground was a mix of sand and scrubby grass with lots of ant hills. Cell coverage not enough to make phone calls.
