The Portneuf River runs behind the camp and is quite deep in locations. All of the electric pedestals are at the front of the sites so you'll be stuck putting your equipment at the front of the site and figuring out what to do with your tow vehicle unless you have a substantial extension cord. There is no office attendant. You have to reserve online or the park assistant can help you if he/she is driving around. He/she can accept cash in person. Signs on the "office" door guide you through the process of online booking if you're a walk-up. UP railroad runs about 150 yards away.

Pros: The site is well maintained. Only a few sites had muddy areas due to big rig tires but all were level with green grass. Toilets were well kept. It is close to town.Cons: trains run 24/7 and are very loud. Not a lot of space between sites so you hear neighbors. View is okay but nothing great.

  • Nice, grassy RV park on the Portneuf River.

It sits right on the bank of the Portneuf River, which provides pleasant sounds and scenery. The park also sits near a highly-traveled train route. We enjoyed seeing the trains and were not bothered too much by the noise.Pros:- Nice, clean park with lots of green grass- Close to Lava Hot Springs- On the bank of the Portneuf River- 30A electrical hookup (at our site)- Nice, helpful staffCons:- No Internet / WiFi- No water hookups in the sites (but we were able to fill our fresh water tank when we arrived at the park)- No sewer hookups- No dump station- Price is high considering the amenities (but competitive with neighboring RV parks)Notes:- The park has a lot of rules and the staff seems to be fairly strict with their enforcement. We saw this as an advantage because it keeps the park nice and made our stay pleasant.
