Dale and his wife greeted us with a warm welcome and a warm cookie! We have a 43 foot 5th wheel and we had plenty of room to maneuver and park. Each site has level, hard packed gravel with full hookups. And we really liked how they enforce NO outside lights after 10 PM. This dark sky campground provides great views of the constellations. No noise from planes or trains. But it is next the a 2 lane road so there was some road traffic during the day. Both AT&T and Verizon were 2-3 bars but the camp has really good wifi (~16-20 MBs down). They were in the process of upgrading wifi service provider for even better speeds.

I looked at the owner's fb page because he responded with his personal account. Racist and do not like children. I would never support these type of people. They will argue with anyone who gives them a negative review on their fb page. We stayed at this campground for two nights. The campground was quiet and clean. It rained our whole stay, so we didn't get out except to venture over to the Okefenokee Swamp. They do have a laundry list of rules they give you at check in. One being, not using electric heaters or water heaters. After our departure, I noticed an additional charge of $10.80 from the campground. After calling to see what the charge was, the man I spoke to and I finally realized it was for an additional person. When I called to make the reservation I stated that I had 3 children. When I checked in I stated again that I had 2 adults and 3 children. Nothing was mentioned about an additional charge. They charged my card without telling me. This was what I am upset about. It is stealing. No mention, no emailed updated invoice...just a charge. After looking more closely at the rules they allow 2 adults and 1 child, so they should have actually charged me $20 for 2 additional children. I feel like they chose an arbitrary $10 to add on.

I had accidentally reserved the wrong night, realized this about 2 days prior I called and the reservation was changed without a problem. In fact they were very nice and understanding. Upon arrival check in was easy, we were given a welcome bag of delicious cookies. We were escorted to our site which was grass and almost perfected level. While setting up, my surge protector indicated high voltage. Management immediately checked the post and after changing a breaker and checking against another post we all agreed that my surge protector was not operating properly. They were so accommodating and unflustered by this and were so willing to help. They even provided me with a 50 to 30 amp converter for the night. I can’t say enough about how good these people are at caring for their campers. Free WiFi was very strong. Minimal road noise lent to great night sleep.

  • Excellent location, very helpful when we had a problem.

They are conveniently located right across the street from the Main (East) entrance of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge near Folkston, Georgia. We are in campsite #17 which is the most private in the campground, Our hard wired Progressive Industries Surge Protector/ EMS (Electrical Management System) locked out power to the RV due to a E2 Error (Open Ground). The electrician here hammered in an earth ground rod at our pedestal and tied it in with the power pedestal's receptacles grounding. That corrected the E2 error and allowed us to have shore power. Poor Verizon here 300 KB/S download, using AT&T Mobley Hotspot 10 MB/S download with Weboost Cellular Booster. They do have Campground Wifi here but haven't tried it, using our own mobile hotspot.
