The staff was friendly and check in was easy. The huge oak trees with Spanish moss gave the park a great look. However, the park layout is a bit complicated. The main office, laundry, community pavilion, and dumpster separate a mostly long term residential area from the mostly short term customers. The wide asphalt roads were broken up in wide swaths along the edge and it was sometimes hard to tell where the road edge ended. The laundry facility, washers, and driers were very clean and in good repair. It was easy to drive into and out of the park and that was good because the grocery stores and other shopping stores were far enough away to make walking to them impracticable. So, our walks were limited to short excursions around the grounds. We would stay again, but we’ll also try somewhere else as we pass through Tallahassee.

  • I would stay here only at a stop off for a night.

It's right off a major highway and there are many long term and maybe snow birds getting away from the north. As mentioned in other reviews, there are spectacularly large live oaks and most of the good sites around the perimeter are probably taken by the long term. One night pull throughs are for convenience only they are the closest sites. pull throughs 53-60 are super tight and close to each other. park and sleep. $58.00 is a bit high for this, so I would only stop here again when the state parks are all full.

The person working the counter could have been more helpful, but I guess her phone was important too. The restroom/shower building seemed new and were lockable. Portions of the campground seemed to have long-term residents but still room for travelers as well. Was a nice little park, but it was pricey when compared to others in the area.

This time we got the very last space (46). There are no paved spaces in the park so leveling can be an issue and this one was very bad and near the road which starts cranking at 5 am. I think this park is really geared more towards permanents than overnighters. Tallahassee really has very few options, none of which are new. Definitely not worth the $52 paid.

We knew we would be staying a while and picked out a spot under a big, well trimmed oak. There's lots of shade but we won't need to use solar while we're here as electricity is included even with monthly rates. The office staff and the grounds crew are great. There are two buildings with facilities for a total of 6 shower/bathroom stalls. Even though we are near a highway, at night the crickets and frogs drownd out all the traffic. We love our "home for now" and will enjoy returning after each short trip we will take until we finally cut the cord and retire.

It is a simple park, not a lot of "extras" but we absolutely loved it. There is tons of oaks with Spanish Moss including the gigantic oak at the center of the park. (worth seeing in of itself). Pros:* The management was very kind and all the people who are stationary were kind, if we interacted at all. Looks like they at one time had social things around the big oak (firepit, chairs, and a pavilion) but either Corona or cold weather kept everyone inside most the time. * The shower house was very nice and cleaned often, looks like they have been updated compared to other parts of the park. Cons:* The sites were not level but a few blocks were able to straighten things out. * Spots are a little tighter than we would like. We were parked next to someone who were stationary and they would let their dog do its business anywhere next to their trailer, so often times my kids would track dog poo inside after playing. Others were moving in and out on the other side, not everyone knows how to park straight so we at times felt cramped. * We originally booked because other reviews said that internet was stable...that was not the case for us. (verizon and tmobile) It would cut in an out consistently and was not very reliable. This was the biggest draw back for us, since we rely on it for work. * IF you have packages coming you need to pick them up QUICKLY otherwise they will ship them back.

However, they really cram too many rigs all over the place. Our “spot” was literally parallel to the front office, right up against it near the exit. It was weird. Also, there is ONE bathroom/shower room per gender so when I went to take a shower, it was occupied for whoever needed to use the bathroom during my shower. They really need new/additional bathroom facilities, but when they are that packed and raking in the dough, why improve? No problem with cell service as you’re in town. WiFi was able to stream, which honestly is more important than anything referenced above for us. Would stay again.

Big Oak is an older park; build before awnings and slide outs. The sites are very close. The facilities are old, but well maintained. We lucked out and got a pull thru. They had several places set up with chairs around camp fire spots for socializing. Lots of trees, including the big one the park is named after.

Upon arrival check in was easy and quick and finding our site was easy. We were in a pull thru that was just big enough for our slides and awnings, but it was big enough. There are several pull thrus side by side that are for transient people like us, it appears most of the park is populated with full time or long term residents. Our spot was fine for our few nights stay. The park is pretty and clean, with lots of oaks trees, including the very large one in the center of park with its branches that reach to the ground creating a beautiful shaded place to sit. The trees caused our satellite to be "stymied," but the cable was ok, and some sites looked like they could get a signal. My AT&T phone had 2-3 bars and LTE, I didn't try Verizon. Park wifi worked occasionally. Overall, I would recommend this park if you are visiting the Tallahassee area.

Most spots are gravel with concrete patios. The spots weren't exactly level, I had to shim up one side and I saw Class As in this back with their front wheels a foot off the ground. Everyone kept to themselves, but that may have been due to the weather. Our area could have been very crowded; the A/B sites are long pull throughs that get doubled up and share a center electric and sewer, but no one was ever in the spots directly next to us. It looked like they were great at accommodating overnighters. I had no problems working with my AT&T 4G LTE coverage; the RV wifi was overloaded and unusable like every RV park with wifi.
