We paid $35/night for full-hookups. I think they have discounts for weekly and monthly rates. It is about a 40-minute drive to St. Augustine which is good enough for us. The RV parks near there are expensive and we still save money even with extra gas costs. The campground is mostly full-time residents, but there were a few spots open for short-timers. We chose a spot under some trees that was lovely. The squirrels liked to eat their nuts right above us though, which caused some tense moments with our dogs and loud acorn noises. LOL! We did not have to use levelers for the site which was nice. The campground is very quiet, and everyone was friendly. We met the new owner and he was nice. Hopefully he doesn’t make too many changes to the park. The campground has two docks with benches on the river allowing you to sit and enjoy the sunrise or sunset. We went down there several times during our stay to enjoy the sunset. Our AT&T connection was 2-3 bars 4G LTE and the Verizon was 5 bars 4G LTE. Great restaurants in Palatka nearby and of course there are plenty of options in St. Augustine for food and attractions. We would have stayed longer but had reservations on November 1 in Naples. If we are ever in the area again, we would stay here again.

One important thing to note up front: this is an adult's only campground for those actually renting a site, children are welcome to visit. This little campground is at the end of a charming cul-de-sac right on the St. Johns River. There are even docks that you can venture out on to watch the amazing sunsets that color the sky almost nightly... or fish for bass. The monthly rates are unreal for snowbird season in a place with such great access to so many attractions. We payed $380/month for a 30amp site. The People:The owner John is awesome, and the people living there while we stayed were so friendly. Everyone there is very sweet, it's a nice community that watches out for each other. The atmosphere was very relaxed, peaceful, and friendly. The Sites: The sites here are sand/grass, mostly level, and many have access to shade. There are both 30/50amp sites offered with full hookups.Wifi: The wifi here is awesome. I work 9-5 as a remote consultant and need solid wifi, I never had an issue while we were parked here. I regularly have to do video conferencing, often sharing my screen and making use of the VOIP services. We were also able to stream Netflix and Prime Video without issue. There's decent cell service here as well.Amenities: bath houses, coin-operated washer/dryers, small fenced-in dog run, free-wifi, cable hookups, water, electric, pets welcome! Location: San Mateo is situated in the center of FL up north. For about 1/3 of the price of some of the campgrounds in places like St. Augustine (30 minutes away) or Jacksonville (1hr away) you can enjoy a nice quiet place centrally located to several of North FL's major hubs. Even Orlando is a day-drive away at about 1.5 hrs. The immediate area is pretty rural. We did most of our shopping at Publix and Walmart in Palatka, the town across the bridge. There are many farm stands and farmers markets in the area worth checking out, otherwise it is a pretty sleepy area and you will have to drive a bit to get to larger shopping centers. For us 20-30 minutes wasn't really an issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this little RV park to anyone looking for a place to stay in Florida who is comfortable with being slightly off the beaten path.
