For $250/night (Easter week) we were prepared to check it off the list and never stay there again. Within 1 hour we were trying to figure out when we could go back. Yes, the loops are a bit tight for a 44' fifth wheel, but the sites were very easy to back into and quite large. At least ours was. We had a huge area to our side and behind us. A great dog walk path behind us. We were a short walk from the restaurants and boat area. The grounds were amazing. So quiet and well kept. I wish we were there for weeks and able to enjoy more of what they offered. We also got to see some of the fireworks and the electrical water parade from the beach! Another pleasant surprise was how much we enjoyed the food at the BBQ restaurant as well as the food trucks. And of course the best wifi service of any campground we've been to yet.

  • Very expensive and very worth the money

Part of Walt Disney World, Fort Wilderness is a free boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom and a bus ride away from the other parks. We stayed in the cheapest loops (tents, pop-ups & campervans) with water & electric and the price was $150 a night. Prices change depending on the dates and we stayed during Easter week. Comfort stations, with flushing toilets, laundries, showers and ice machines were clean and up to date. Unfortunately only 2 of the 4 showers were working. Most sites had some shade, some had lots of shade. A concrete pad, grill & picnic table are provided. Recycle bins and trash bins are close to all sites. Sites are hosed down after campers depart. There is not a feeling of being crowded; many large open spaces and woods throughout the campground. There really is nothing else like Fort Wilderness Campground. It's huge. Many people either rent golf carts to get around or bring their own. Internal buses also get you around the campground. You cannot drive your car to get around the campground. 2 Trading Posts, a bar, a restaurant, a quick service take-out, a food truck, 2 pools, a beach area (no swimming), 4 playgrounds, a large dog park, tennis courts, canoeing/kayaking, fishing , carriage rides, bike rentals, scheduled kids' pool activities and so much more. Many of the extra activities also carry an extra cost. The Disney parks are at your fingertips, but you could spend a week just enjoying the resources at the campground. Fort Wilderness feels calm and relaxing and is beautifully landscaped. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

With that said, you MUST rent a golf cart BEFOREHAND if you want to get around the resort (to get to the pool, eating places, archery, marina & other resort amenities) When we got there all the golf carts were sold out for the duration of our stay. We tried to use the vehicle we towed but there is not car parking at the amenities inside the park. Keep that in mind. If you are utilizing only the accommodations & Disney Parks then no golf cart is needed. Just a heads up. The park was extremely clean. Pool with a slide and splash pad was a huge hit with our family. The sites are small, not much room to move around. We loved the food trucks that were there a few nights during our stay!!Great WiFi. We loved that there were trash and recycle stations at every other campsite. Very convenient.

Full hookups.Expensive but is right on Disney and really convenient to see the parks. So, just depends on the value you put on it. Can't give it a 5 start because there are better luxury RV parks with better wifi and sites.Wifi was "available" but we could not connect at all during the entire week, which is nice so that we can work without using our hotspots. So, worked solely on our normal hotspots (which is what we rely on anyway). Just expected good wifi for being at Disney. If you stay here, consider renting a golf cart to get around the campground for food and such. Vehicles can't access much of the campground to keep it safe for pedestrians and animals, which is actually nice.Overall, a great place to stay if you are visiting Disney parks. :)

All back in sites. No way to get into them without driving over one or more of the neighboring sites. Hope they happen to be there because it’s very likely they have to move something in order for you to get in. Only one tiny spot to drop a toad. If it’s in use you are parked in the middle of the road waiting. If you don’t have a golf cart you can’t park at the restaurants. No, they don’t have a golf cart. We were here when it was super slow and they were sold out of golf carts. If they do have them, add another $60 a day to the already super expensive site cost. Way too expensive for what you get. There is nothing special about the place and many negatives. Best to avoid.

Sites are tight (if you are not use to backing into tight spots tell them at check in and they will send you help, but we are pros ????) the site are very private and spacious. The worse part was the millions of people hauling ass around like they are driving in Cairo in their golf carts. It is a big park, but getting around on your bike is perfect (apart from the fear of being hit by a speeding golf cart). Bathrooms are very clean and so it the laundry ($3.00 per load each) there is a free ice machine near the bathrooms on the side. They are very covid mask wearing strict ????. I will not return here until this covid is over. I would probably stay at one if there resorts due to the similar cost. WiFi is free and works great.

We knew that if we ever had a chance to book a reservation, it would be right after COVID, since international borders.Staff was super friendly, as expected! Our site was clean, even and had a table and a grill. Unfortunately there was no fire pit. We were tent camping and since we had full electrical access, we plugged our heater to it to keep us warm and toasty at night.Campground had amazing amenities and recreational activities, too many to name. We canoed through the small river, kids rode ponies, visited Epcot for half day and the rest of the time enjoyed the outdoors. Highly recommend!

The sites in our loop were spacious and private, which we really enjoyed. We loved the trails all throughout the park and the whole thing was so vast. The playground near our site was great and the pool was so cool! Both pools are heated and the one pool on the RV side had an awesome slide that the kids loved! The campground is pet friendly, but we boarded our dog at their daycare which was great! In the morning you can take a bus to the Disney Parks or you can take the boat which again was very magical!! My only issues with Fort Wilderness were the laundry facilities (they were SO smelly and dirty) and the lack of entertainment during our stay. The food places were operating on a smaller menu and there were no fireworks or characters or shows like usual. The little outpost store was also closed. I understand this is because of COVID, but despite the closures, the price is still extremely high. I would probably wait to come back until after the pandemic so that we could enjoy everything Fort Wilderness has to offer. Bring bikes or you can rent a golf cart, because it’s the only way to get around. Their stores and facilities (pool, laundry, etc) do not offer car parking, only golf cart parking. Golf cart rental is around $60 per day FYI. And one final note, masks are required and are STRONGLY enforced, but Disney sells really adorable character options for kids and adults to wear during their stay!

  • As great as you would expect from Disney...even during a pandemic.

So much so that we saw numerous deer and wild turkeys on our walks. The facilities (bathrooms, showers) were very up-to-date and clean. The accessibility to get to the different parks via the boats was great. The roads are somewhat narrow, but backing in was acceptable. There is lots of privacy between sites.Check-in process was easy, however, they give you a lot of verbal information at the gate which I would have appreciated in writing somewhere that I could reference later as it was a lot of helpful information. We had a great stay and would look forward to another visit!

Loud music, unsupervised kids, Huge mounds of trash.Trash can was set on fire a couple of time because people were dumping their fire pit into it.The golf carts, the endless parade of golf carts going round and round. the campsites with half a dozen tents and 30 campers with associated kids, bikes cars, toys The pool, tough to relax with 20 kids playing tag in the entire pool area, not to mention jumping and playing in the hot tub.The Food, we ordered some ribs and fried chicken only to wake up with food poisoning, so we were violently ill for a day and a half. The site was nice, the campground was well maintained as was the pool and walkways. Then the value for dollars paid. Really hard to justify spending $150 per night for a water and electric only site. Just not worth it.

Brilliant! The pools were wonderful. Nice and warm and great slides/etc. for kids. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The only problems I had was with transportation around the resort. We couldn’t get a golf cart our first night there because they were sold out. We decided to use our tow vehicle to try to go to the pool. There is absolutely no vehicle parking almost anywhere in the resort. With 3 small kids, it made getting to the pool an unpleasant experience. But once we got the golf cart, it worked great. I would definitely secure a golf cart rental for our entire stay next time.

There is forest, wildlife, hiking, biking, fishing, campfires, sing-a-longs… and S’MORES, but there are also modern facilities, shops, restaurants, entertainment, and more (did we mention S’MORES?!?!). You can rent golf carts, and fishing or pontoon boats. Or if you can let someone else do the driving and charter a fishing trip or take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the resort! And since all of this is located within the Walt Disney World Resort complex, you get free transportation to all of the parks and Disney Springs, access to Extra Magic Hours, and all the other Disney perks of staying on-property.Pro tips:▪ All of these sites are back-in. Generally, there is sufficient room to get in and out of your site, but it can occasionally be a challenge for longer rigs or at Halloween and Christmas due to camper decorations.▪ Book EARLY, especially for holidays or Disney special events. ▪ Watch the Electrical Water Pageant and the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach.▪ Take the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom.▪ If it’s your first trip, DON’T use online check-in. Check-in at the gate so you get all the maps, guides, activity schedules, and the whole check-in experience.Pros:▪ It’s Walt Disney World!▪ Level, Paved sites▪ Forest setting with resort amenities▪ Lots of scheduled activities (some free, some paid)▪ Plenty of room to roam (trails, walking paths, beach area, etc)▪ Pet friendly-Cons:▪ Cost▪ Usually crowded, especially during holidays and events▪ Difficult to make a reservation at peak times

The sites are just as well maintained and I saw quite a few vans, small campers, & even some class C's that fit just fine in these spacious sites. The front desk was so helpful. This place is usually booked solid in the winter, and they still managed to help us extend our stay by 3 nights without having to move sites!

Every road is pretty tight and backing in can be tricky for big rigs. Disney should spend some money and open up some new areas for >40ft rigs. We rented a golf cart and were glad we did - much fun. We also rented the small power boat on the lake, also fun. Inside transportation is easy with all the buses and ferry's. Be sure to go to the beach at night for fireworks.

Could not have been more perfect. She flew in to MCO, but Disney airport shuttle made this perfect for me since I don't have a dingy. Besides one day at Magic Kingdom for Space Mountain, we thoroughly enjoyed the fun, and often free, offerings at Fort Wilderness. Great natural settings with privacy, full hookups, and exceptionally clean at each site and throughout park. Saw 2 wild turkeys and 5 deer while driving rentable golf carts. Enjoyed the pool, marina boat rides, horseback riding, and the after-hours lighted boat displays and fireworks. Also enjoyed the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review - great food and comedy/musical. It was wonderful to see her laugh so much and really enjoy herself.Doggie park was Fab for Bronson - large/small areas with benches and watering stations. And lots and lots of dogs to play with.Entire stay was truly magical. I've stayed at the Little Mermaid Suites in the past with my entire family, but all future stays will be at Fort Wilderness!!

I am a Disney parks superfan so we HAD to visit Fort Wilderness. Now, for those hyping it as the best campground in America...I don't know about that. But if you love Disney it is by far the best deal and best way to stay on property while visiting the parks.I reserved in May for December and there wasn't tons available, but the customer service worked with me to find some available dates. We paid the highest rates of the year for the Christmas season, but I think it's worth it - and that's coming from folks who usually pay $30/night for camping!Fort Wilderness is famous for the decorated campsites at Christmas time and let me tell you it is extreme! We could have spent several evenings walking around the campground looking at the lights, inflatables, and even a fully built castle! There is so much Christmas cheer here in December that even people not staying in the campground visit to experience it.While here, be sure to catch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach one night. I also recommend taking the boat to Wilderness Lodge for some of the fabulous dinners. The biggest plus to Fort Wilderness is you get the same Disney perks as the normal hotel resorts: magic bands, extra magic hours, an incredible pool, activities, great on-site restaurants - all for the fraction of the cost. There's probably availability to arrive prior to check in time, we arrived at 10am and were able to go right to our site!Next time I stay I will request a site closer to settlement, ours was a little too far, and I wasn't willing to splurge for a golf cart like everyone has haha. I would also book so that I have 1-2 days with no parks visits, just enjoying the campground.Have a magical stay!

Most but not all sites were occupied by large Class A coaches and 5th wheels, not people camping in tents and smaller trailers. As a campground it's nice but not worth three times the price you would normally pay at a beautiful Florida State Park. The only reason the park can charge these rates is because it makes it so convenient to hop on a bus or a boat for free transportation to all of the Disney properties.I really appreciated the fact that once I was set up on my site I didn't once have to move my truck during the entire five days we were there. I was able to visit all the parks and Disney Springs several miles away and not have to worry about driving, finding a place to park and paying the additional fees, or even have to remember where it was that I parked in the mile long parking lots.So in the end I am glad we stayed in the park but I don't expect a return visit! We visited this campground from 01/13/19 until 01/18/19.

We dreamed of going back but struggled with the distance and just never made it. Springing forward I was transferred just 10 hours away so we made a return visit...well more like three visits this year. It lived up to everything we remembered. It is hardly camping with cable water sewer shopping transportation and concierge on site. We stayed in a 73 foot site in the 800 loop number 34, which is close to everything in the resort. I highly recommend the stay, but warn that larger rv may be challenged in backing into the sites themselves. They are pretty tight when the other guests cars are in the way.

We’re glampers for sure!!!Make sure to get up early and walk the horse stables, they bath the horses that will be pulling carriages at the Magic Kingdom and you can see them up close. My kids were fascinated by it. We got a prefered site, your RV is on a nice flat concrete slab, but the patio area is behind the RV and it was sand. For some, not a big deal, but we have small children and it caused issues, so we weren’t able to use the table area. The BBQ was from before I was born and unuseable. The sewer backed up and I was unable to clean out tanks completely, I had to move sites to dump. When they cleaned the sewer out, they opens the manhole and hundreds of Roaches ran all over the camp, it was gross. Next time we will stay in the premium site and hope for a better experience.

This year we stayed in a loop that we have never been in before, 1700 loop. At first we were concerned but after seeing it and setting up camp we fell in love with it. We also happened to have a (hidden) WiFi tower next to us and the fastest internet ever! The sites are spread apart and we had a lot of room to stretch out! The downside was we were going to skip renting a golf cart this year (would have been our first year doing so) since the price is about $65 per day. After spending 2 hours walking we decided to give in and rent a golf cart. The carts are expensive but give you the option of riding around to see all of the other 800+ campsites and 400+ cabins. Even though the bus stop is close the convince of a golf cart is hard to beat. I think next time we will get bikes and give that a try, who knows. The campground is truly one of a kind. It really is like a resort, there are two pools, there is a beach but you can't swim at it (think gators). The Chip and Dale campfire sing along with the Disney movie is something to experience. The people, staff and other campers are great! The campground is Disney clean. You can take the boat directly to the Magic Kingdom or other resorts. You can take a bus to Disney Springs (Downtown Disney), or any of the other parks. You can rent a boat for the day, take a fishing excursion on the lake ($270 for 4 hours). The campground is expensive, sites start around $100 and go to about $150 (the differences are the more expensive ones have more cement). We opt for the least expensive ones we can get, if you can get them. Reservations are often tough to get, this place gets more popular every year. My wife and I have always had a dream of staying at the campground and never going into the parks. We love the campground but do not enjoy the crowds at the park, well this year we did just that and had a great time!

We had done Disney before and this time we were just going to camp there...no parks. After all the rave reviews, we opted for the insanely expensive 4 nights. When we first arrived I was a bit let down. We were not in the premium sites, but we still had full hookups and a concrete pad for our camper, though we didn't fit entirely on the concrete. While the area was wooded, the first thing I noticed was how eroded everything was. Many sites around us had 2-3' dropoffs all around the pad. Some didn't even have space for the picnic table. We lucked out with a site that backed up against the woods, which I was really hoping for. It gave us a modicum of privacy and woodsiness that most of the sites there didn't have. As the days went on, I started to see the value of this park. While I still wasn't in love with the sites, I could see why this place costs more. The park is fully staffed by "cast members", has 2 pools, has public transportation, has two outposts for shopping, has bike trails and the like. We spent much of our days at the main pool which was nice. You can bring a cooler with you and hang out all day if you like. Alcohol is allowed which is nice. (better to bring your own than pay $8.50 for a beer!) If you want a spot by the pool, I highly recommend showing up between 9-10 to snag a spot, otherwise you're going to be out of luck.We compared our non-premium site to the premium sites and we preferred ours. While there's less concrete at the non-premiums, there's more space. The premium sites were stacked even more closely together. As far as location in the campground, if you have a bike, the whole campground felt accessible with a 5 minute bike ride. It's about a mile loop on the main road for instance. One thing I didn't love is that we had no information given to us at checkin. We got a map but that was it. We weren't told about whether there was trash pickup, how to access transportation, etc. We felt a bit in the dark upon arrival. Overall, I'd consider staying here again, but not for $150+.

It was a no-brainer to stay here when we looked at all of the options due to WDW transportation system. We have stayed at the Contemporary Resort (before our RVing days) before and knew the importance of onsite transit. The check-in process was a little slow but very thorough. Our site was long, wide, level and concrete. We had a good distance between neighbors and it was quiet. From the campground, you can take a boat to the Magic Kingdom, Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness Lodge. Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary was a very fun breakfast. We did the Once Upon a Time dinner at Cinderellas Castle and that was great for our daughter. We hung out at the Fort Wilderness pools and they were amazing with lifeguards everywhere. They also had a small food counter that served drinks. Lastly, the Mickey’s Backyard BBQ is a must if you have the time. Also, pay the little extra to get the better seats. They let you in before everyone else to take pictures with the characters. It was well worth the extra $10 per ticket. Oh, also, they topped off one of my propane tanks with 2 gallons at no charge.

Some of the spots will make you feel like you are all alone. But, like much of Disney, if you look too closely, the facade breaks down. Despite the feeling of being in the wilderness, the noise levels are what you would expect for Disney. People let their kids run unchecked, making noise all hours of the day and night. It was common for people to just cross through our spot while we were sitting there, as if we were invisible. Also, people would let their dogs bark all day and night. Many people appeared to have tied their dog to a tree while they went to the parks, and the dogs would bark at anything that moved -- and apparently the owners stayed until the park closed and didn't get back until after 11:00pm.The pool is large but always overrun with kids, basically leaving no room to swim or even wade around without getting bumped or shoved. A cool thing about this campground is that they have a campfire and movies every night, with an appearance by Chip and Dale. Also, they have trail rides. The horn of the train from Magic Kingdom is a constant reminder of where you are. The fireworks and music shows at night also remind you of where you are -- very loud. So while the location is great if you are spending all day at Disney, the camping aspect of it is second-rate. For this price, I want a much better camping experience.Nuts and bolts of the Disney thing: If you want are going to Hoop-de-doo Musical Review, this is the most convenient place to stay, you can walk or catch a bus. If you are going to the other parks and want to use Disney transit, you will need to leave an hour of transit time. First, you have to catch the internal bus to get you to one end of the park or the other. Then you catch the boat by the lake (for Magic Kingdom) or the bus up front (for the other three parks). On average, our transit time from door to door was just over an hour, which meant getting up by 6:30 or so for an 8:00 park opening.

We loved the Hoop de Doo Revue and the food was amazing. The sites were pristine, ice and laundry were available at the showers. The Trading Posts had everything you might need to throw together a quick dinner or to help with things you might have forgotten at home. We didn't use the cable hook-up as our coaxial cable was too short (we could have purchased a longer one if we had wanted). We saw flocks of wild turkeys most mornings.

Crazy expensive nightly rate, but with it came free transportation and parking at the parks and everywhere Disney (so consider that when looking at the price). This park is amazing at Christmas, absolutely amazing to see local Floridians come and park here for weeks and dress up their rigs like they are right on Candy Cane Lane. You can read my full review on our blog. We were in the 1100 loop and it was great. Take bikes, this place is massive. Love how private and wide our site was with beautiful, mature foliage on all three sides.

This was considered a “preferred” site and priced accordingly – although I’m not clear exactly what features are used to categorize sites as premium, preferred and regular. We were within walking distance of the Settlement and marina. First off the campground is HUGE and you will need to use the internal bus system to access transportation to the Disney parks at either the Settlement or Outpost. In typical Disney fashion, there is lots to do here – swimming pools, playgrounds, restaurants and events, although many options – fishing, carriage rides, horseback riding are pricey. The sites are large enough to accommodate any sized rig and our loop had some vegetation between sites for privacy. The pad is concrete with a sandy patio area in the rear. Our 50amp didn’t work and although we reported it our first night, it was never fixed. Luckily the weather was mild enough that 30 amp was fine. The biggest knock on the campground, at least where we were located, was the noise. I swear the loud speakers (emphasis on LOUD) for the nightly electrical watercraft parade were right above our site! Forget trying to get to sleep early, as late as 10:45 a horrible synthesized Disney mashup would begin and last for 10-15 minutes. We could hear the banjo music from the Settlement and the boat horns started every morning at 6:45am and lasted well into the night. While proximity to the marina was nice, I don’t think it was worth the aggravation of the noise. The irony is I specifically requested a quiet spot when making our reservation. Lol. We had 3 bars of 4G unboosted and there is free WiFi that worked fairly well.

First time camping at Disney, and it was amazing.Showers/Bathrooms very clean.Stayed in the 400 loop, close to the marina to catch the boat to Magic Kingdom, or watch the MK fireworks from the beach.Loved how we could use our parking pass to park for free at the all the other parks.Had a wonderful time!
