Very nice campground, but difficult in a big rig.

This is a very nice campground, with most sites being quite large, wooded, and reasonably private. It has a very rustic feel, and is clean and well kept. Most sites are occupied by permanent residents. We liked the look and feel of the place, and the very large size of the campground meant we never had to leave the grounds looking for someplace to walk our Lab. AT&T and Verizon both worked for us. Unfortunately, the local roads getting to the campground, some roads inside the campground, and the site we were assigned were not suitable for our 42-foot motorhome, which made our visit less enjoyable. We had issues with low branches on the local roads and campground roads. The site we were assigned in the "G" section up on a wooded hill was very wide and surrounded by trees for privacy, but it was barely long enough for our rig. Worse, it was so un-level (very low in the back and driver's side) that even using every leveling block in our extensive collection under our wheels and jacks we had to settle for being crooked for our whole stay. If we had a smaller RV we'd love to return here, but will look elsewhere in the future for someplace more suitable for big rigs. In addition, $51/night felt pretty expensive for a non-sewer site in rural CT. Add a star if you have a smaller rig!

The rate reflects average with Passport America. Great family park with tons of activities and lots of kids. Staff was very nice. Pool was clean and very popular; it appeared that the park may have a day use fee for locals to come in for the day and that would detract from the camping folks enjoyment of the pool due to crowds. Our site was on the grassy field W/E only, dump station near the front gate. They charge a ridiculous $20 for the honey wagon. The interior roads are a bit tight and confusing with little directional signage, along with low overhang branches in need of trimming. The men's bathroom in the clubhouse had used t.p. on the floor & I realize that usually happens with that many kids running around, but it requires extra attention in that case. The roads into the park are VERY skinny & twisty, with a whole lot of trees in need of trimming, they need to complain to the local road dept. until some trimming gets done. I was surprised I arrived with both my antennas in tact.
