It was our first time here and never realized it’s in the middle of nowhere which was amazing with great views. The people are very friendly and helpful.

This campground is on the northwest side of Lake John, on a hill. It changed ownership in 2017 and the new owners are nice folks that have plans for upgrades. We were there one of the first weekends after they took ownership. While they were new to it they were on top of everything. The three rows of sites are tiered with the row closest to the office being the highest. This helps with noise but if you have to walk to the office from the bottom row you better be in shape. There aren't many trees. Any shade will be what you brought with you. The sites are good sized and as far as I can tell they are all pull through sites. I had no issues with the power or water.Lake John is a nice fishing destination. I've never been skunked there, even when ice fishing. There are quite a few lakes within 25 miles so if you get tired of Lake John there are more to explore. Other than fishing there isn't a whole lot to do right there at the campground, but there are a lot of opportunities nearby. The Mt Zirkel Wilderness to the south has some great hiking/walking trails.
