Over priced for whats available but perfect as an overnight pass through.

The sounds of the creek drown out the traffic from the nearby Main Street. Very close to downtown Salida where there’s a ton of restaurant options. We enjoyed rafting, hiking and 4x4 trails — all within 45 minutes of our site. Bathrooms and shared spaces are tired, and the only dumping option is a mobile septic service ($10/dump). Otherwise we would have given 5 stars.

Beautiful campground right on the river. Our site had a picnic table and fire pit by the river. Camp hosts are new this year and very kind. Would recommend for families passing through or looking to spend time in the Salida area!

Everything else sucks. This was probably once a nice motel/camp area but it is so uncared for now that weeds are growing out of everything, the bathrooms are disgusting, and the fishing ponds are filled with algae (and posted no fishing despite what the website says).I had three young boys under 12 with me and the first thing the host said is they had to be supervised at all times. Having to accompany three excited boys around the campground everywhere INCLUDING THE BATHROOM, was exhausting. I took those boys camping so they could run around with each other and play. I had to ask them to sit in the campsite while I cooked, cleaned up, and tried to relax. When I arrived at 5:30pm the hosts were nowhere to be found. The office was vacant even though the posted hours said they were open until 6:00pm. I finally found them in their camper after asking two other visitors. After I checked in they told me I had to submit the insurance papers for my trailer and tow vehicle to them via email. No RV Park I've stayed at has ever asked for that. The only reason this place got two stars from me is because the river that ran by the campsite was beautiful and provide a serene setting for the evening and night.

Overall the place is good because the river and location is two miles from downtown, but really needs upkeep. The bathhouse is gross, the pond and rest of the place needs some easy upkeep to make it better. FYI site 4 you must back in at a right angle because it’s right at the entrance. Site 8 is pull up parallel to the river right next to the bridge but also the bridge is access to the bathhouse so lots of foot traffic.

It also is an awesome location for dual sport motorcycle riders as there are plenty of trail access right behind the park. The park is a bit older, but the location is great. This park is totally run by volunteers who are there for the season and do a great job. The camphost Estel is awesome too. There is a group of seasonal campers that spend the summers here and we found all the campers very friendly and got to know a number of them in the 3 weeks we were there. We definitely plan on coming back as it was super friendly and awesome location. The park only has 30amp service and water hookups at each site. There is no sewer, but the volunteers come around with a honey wagon on Mondays & Thursdays to empty your tank, so no biggie there. The water pressure isn't the greatest and the campground suffers periods of low voltage at high use times, so best to have an EMS to protect your rig. Overall, this wasn't a big deal and wouldn't stop us from coming back. There is room for larger rigs on the pull throughs and some of the back in sites. Most of the river sites are on the small to medium size. I was able to fit our 42' 5th wheel in a pull through and could have fit it in some of the back in sites. I had to park my HDT truck in an overflow area, but no biggie. The campground is surprisingly quiet and cozy considering it's not that far from the main road so that was a pleasant surprise. There is a Walmart across the street that makes easy access to groceries or supplies. The daily rate (2017 rates) at this campground is on the high $45 non river / $50 river site, but the monthly rate $475 non river / $500 river site is very reasonable, so if you can stay longer, it's well worth it. There is no extra charge for eletricity or honey wagon service. We stayed 3 weeks and the monthly rate was very reasonable for our stay. Please be aware they only take Cash/Check for the payment. You have some gorgeous views of the mountains from the campsite. This campground usually closes around the first weekend in Oct.
