Ute Lodge is a beautiful property with RV sites, tent sites, and cabins. It backs up directly to national forest, and there are hiking trails literally behind the property. We stayed here for around 2 weeks. The first site we were in (I’m sorry, I don’t recall the numbers) had a sewer drain that was uphill from the site. So unless you have a very tall RV, it was impossible to create enough of an incline to drain tanks. We were able to move after a few days after another site cleared out. We didn’t see anyone else use the site after us. Not a huge deal, just something to note. There were also reports of bears on the property multiple times during our stay, yet the owner didn’t lock up the trash or advise (maybe just ban) tent campers from hanging trash directly outside their tents. Wifi is okay when it works but pretty unreliable, especially when a lot of people are using it. I was able to get by with cell service and a booster, but it was only 3G and not ideal for work (particularly video calls). You’re also 40 miles from the nearest (small) town, which gets tiresome during longer stays like ours but likely wouldn’t be an issue for a shorter one. If you go to Meeker (the town) try the fried mushrooms at Clark’s and the breakfast burrito at Wendyl’s—both were super good. This review feels overly critical given how much I enjoyed Ute Lodge. It’s really a gorgeous place and the hosts were all very nice people. Would highly recommend and will likely stay here again myself.

    Days stayed: 5

    Site number: Chokecherry Cabin

We stayed in the Chokecherry Cabin for the second year for 5 days in June. Gorgeous surroundings at the National Forest boundary right at a nice trailhead up into the mountains. Saw a cow and a calf moose and lots of birds. The hosts are the nicest people you will ever meet and they work hard making the Ute Lodge a wonderful place to stay. Comfortable bed, nice linens, well equipped kitchen, full size refrigerator, and big bathroom. We will come back next year!
