Highly recommend staying in Durango and driving to Mesa Verde National Park if you’re exploring the park.

Full store with many provisions. Amenities include hot tub, pool, kids playground, miniature golf. All well maintained. Quiet at night. Good WiFi and internet. Laundry was clean and efficient. WARNING: I was using Apple Maps on my iPhone to navigate to Ancient Cedars. It took me to a narrow street in Mancos. It was difficult to turn around my 41 ft 5th wheel once I figured out where I wanted to go.

There is a riding stable right next door that offers a discount to park customers as well. Laundry and small convenience store, in office, available as well.Check-in was a breeze, don't forget to ask for your Good Sam or Military Discount. The park is set up in a tiered system with standard sites (full-hook up) closer to the entrance with a few trees. Progressing to deluxe and premium sites further away from the road, larger sites, more trees, and better wi-fi. Our site, 214, was a standard which was a little tight for our 36' TT and 20' TV; larger setups should opt for the deluxe or premium sites further up the hill for ease of parking and setup. The resort is right across the highway from Mesa Verde NP visitor center making it a great location to jump into Mesa Verde and it's a short drive to Cortez for shopping, fuel, and Canyon of the Ancients National Monument. Great place to visit and take in the sites.

Had a lot of extras that are available, putt putt, rec room, swimming, playground, laundry, and etc. Close proximity to Mesa Verde was a strong positive! Super customer service and accommodating, upgraded our site at no additional cost! Only down side, the sites were super close and couldn’t enjoy the provided picnic table and outdoor.

We stayed at Ancient Cedars in a fifthwheel. Nice site, quiet park. Great Amenities. Bathrooms were clean, great water pressure and spotless showers. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I will recommend this park to family and friends. Looking forward to our next visit here.

We were parked up on the hill with the big rigs. These sites are billed as having a great view. It all depends upon which way you were facing. The rigs are packed in pretty tight, so we only had a view if a neighbor pulled out. Also, you might want to make reservations ahead of time. In late September, the owner was able to put us on one site for one night, then move us up with the big rigs for the next six nights. In addition, the roads were a little tight getting our big rig in and out...but it was definitely doable. The WiFi was indeed slow. It was usable only for email. But we had no trouble getting the signal. We relied instead upon our Verizon Jetpack with an external antenna hooked up to it to pull in the cell signal better. That was reliable most times. In order to use my Verizon phone, I usually had to step outside the RV to get a decent signal. Honestly, the number of Verizon bars you would pick up seems to vary all over the campground. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated the fact it was open after Labor Day. It was set at a toasty 104 degrees, just the way we like it.The laundry room was OK. There isn't a door on one of the entrances and the day I did laundry it was cold and damp. I got a tad chilly. The log cabin rec room had satellite TV if you so desired. In the RV, we pulled in 119 channels of OTA television!!! Yes, 119. We had signals from Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque and Grand Junction. Just pop up your antenna and you had more broadcast TV than you knew what to do with.Visit Burger Boy in Cortez if you want a good burger. It's served to you on a tray that hangs off your driver's door window. It was old school and fun! Also, the Cortez Quilt Shop was wonderful...if you are a quilter. We would stay again if in the area.

The site quality and type varies quite a bit. There are large pull-throughs is an open gravel parking area. These sites are close together with your picnic table right next to your neighbor’s sewer hook-up. Some of back-in sites are roomier and nestled among the trees (our favorite!), there was also a row of smaller pull throughs with some shade trees and quite a few tent sites. When we arrived, the owner asked if wifi was important and when I said yes, we were assigned space #49 in the open gravel area. Wouldn’t be my choice, but I had lots of work to do and would appreciate some decent wifi. Well, that was a pipe dream. The wifi, when we could get on, was barely adequate for email and totally worthless for any internet use. After a day or so of being totally frustrated, I asked if we could move to Site #62 under the trees. Might as well have some privacy and a nicer spot. By the way, the wifi worked just as well there and we were much happier with the site. The park has a small store at the office, restroom/showers and a laundry (open 24 hours). There is a pool and two hot tubs (one was open during our stay and we did enjoy that!). They also have a very nice looking mini-golf which is $3 per person, but we didn’t get a chance to play. Large fenced dog run, playground for the kids, and a nice patio with BBQ grills and a gazebo for guest use. If you enjoy mountain biking do not miss the excellent trails at Phil’s World about 10 miles west on Hwy 160. Rog says it was the best $3 he’s spent in a loooong time. ???? We also enjoyed Moose & More (homemade ice cream and handmade artisan chocolates) in Cortez, which has plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping. The Delores River Brewery in Delores was also a hit. The $37 rate was the total after taxes and with the Good Sam discount. We had 1 bar of Verizon 4G and it wasn’t particularly reliable. As noted, the wifi was extremely frustrating even when the park was over half empty so I wouldn’t count on it.
