For years this campground was owned and run by a family, and it enjoyed a well-deserved positive reputation. Then a large corporation purchased it and things went quickly downhill. It is poorly maintained, there are sticker plants throughout the grass, WiFi is unusable, shower plumbing rarely works, and “corporate policies” ignore the needs of customers. It would be so easy to restore this campground’s reputation by just committing a few more dollars and being more customer focused.I had the opportunity to reserve a spot for a week next year, but I passed. In the long run, being a stingy owner doesn’t work.

Great site, staff were friendly and professional. Minimal wifi but enough for basic surfing. River is on the property and they have a catch and release pond on site that doesn't require a fishing license. Site was pretty level.

We have stayed here a couple of times 2017 & July 2020. Very nice hosts. Showers are great great with fun woodwork (see photos). Welcome retreat after boon docking. Wish the WiFi was a little better, but always have the same wish. Nice spot to fish or take a day trip to Telluride.

It’s an amazing location on the river but if you don’t get a site ON the river you will seriously struggle feeling comfortable in anything longer than about 20ft. We were practically right on top of the RVs on either side of us and there was only about 15ft of space across to next row of RVs. The water connections are down in these 2ft diameter holes that make it hard to get your filter onto so I highly recommend a 6” extender hose. The sites were very clean, phenomenally maintained and the amenities were great. EXCEPT for the wifi. Unfortunately this was extremely critical to us as we work during the weeks. When we called they advices the WiFi was good throughout the park but cell services was marginal. Well, they were both marginal at best. Evening standing right in front of the office the WiFi was horrible. Apparently it’s the low broadband that they’ve chosen not to upgrade. Connectivity was good (our site was ~50ft from office) but the broadband level was so pathetic you couldn’t open Google at all, from any device. Overall this place is really nice but I’d recommend it for the cabins and/or tent camping along the river only. For RVs it’s just waaaaaay too crowded/tight. They’re clearly maximizing the # of RVs they can get it. And they were full the entire time we were there (late July)

We arrived and were about as far from our family as you can get. The lady at the desk seemed disinterested in helping me. I went back to office 3 times. She was Disinterested each time. I finally went back determined to just get her interested and encourage her to look a little harder - and yay the owner happened to be in office. She did some major musical chairs and got us right next to each other ! I was thankful but wished it happened a bit sooner or at least the attempt. The park itself is lovely for a private campground. Especially the pond sites for RV and the tent area is really nice. We had family stay in a cabin and a wagon also. Other than the heat they really enjoyed their facilities. Bathrooms were ALWAYS clean and the laundry room was great. Kids had fun tubing every day. WiFi was NOT GOOD for us and cell (Verizon and AT&T was Very sketchy). I work on the road and was frustrated every day with WiFi. Although I could get it to work certain times of day thankfully.

Really? Better than Zion, Big Sur, Carmel, Charleston, Burlington, Capitol Reef, and all the other absolutely gorgeous campgrounds in some of the most beautiful parks and cities across the country? YES, YES, and YES. How could a private RV Park/Campground in a small, relatively unknown town called Dolores in Southwest Colorado be so great? Well, because it has it all - the full experience. My wife and two little girls felt we were home while staying at the DRC. And it all started with our first encounter with the kindest, most genuine and caring hosts we've ever met - Billy and Laney. The amount of care and attention to detail they have put into this little gem of a campground they've created is unparalleled. From the meticulous and custom-crafted bathrooms (that seriously rival the nicest bathrooms at a fine Telluride lodge), to the beautifully maintained and designed campsites, cabins, yurts, and (yes, they even have old Conestoga Wagons that you an stay in), Billy and Laney and Company have built a little utopia tucked away in a lush green forest, surrounded by canyon walls and mountain vistas, all along the banks of the rushing Dolores River just a short 2 miles from the quiet little charming town of Dolores. The DRC has everything you could want in a camping experience (and excellent internet too)! And on top of the peaceful, quiet, comforting campground experience itself, you are surrounded by phenomenal natural beauty in every direction, offering you a plethora of outdoor activities to choose from at any time (fishing, mountain biking, floating the River, mountain climbing the spectacular Dolores Canyon, just to name a few). There's an old saying that you can never go home again. Well, the DRC might have something to say about that. When you come to the DRC, be ready for a transformative experience of going home. A place to rest your bones, to listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock your soul......

We camped here a few years ago with our first airstream and had a back in spot that overlooked the pond. The view was amazing and ducks were cruising all over the place. The property also borders a river for fishing or floating. They had just installed a new wifi network and, since we follow them on Facebook, it looks like they've redone the showers, have a new yurt and vintage airstreams. Delores is a hidden gem with mountain biking trails, river access, the most eclectic bike shop I've ever seen, amazing pizza at the local brewery and you are close to reservoirs, Mesa verde, Cortez and telluride. The owners are younger and raising their family here, so great happy vibe. They have every type of spot for the very type of rig, hookups, a small store and propane. I can't remember cell service but Verizon worked. If you go further towards Telluride, there's no service for quire awhile.
