Was a good campground with pretty Mountain views and friendly staff. Pretty large and lots of long term campers.

The power poles are shared so if you need dedicated power, be there early or maybe look elsewhere. The sites are large and very flat. We didn’t need any leveling blocks. We don’t typically stay in rv parks unless we need a dump and fill and this place has the amenities. Clean showers and restrooms. Fire pits at most sites. Nice dump. And dumpsters. The sites are not private. It’s better than a parking lot with some trees but ultimately it would be best if two campers going together got adjoining sites. There is a fishing lake and some games around the site. Ultimately a good place to stop if you have kids and want a LARGE site. Based on the prices of near by sites, this place is a steal if you are dropping your trailer or class a and taking your tow vehicle out. So much to see near by. Some road and airplane noise but nothing like being at a Cracker Barrel for the night. Not a go-to kinda place for us living vanlife off the grid, but still a great spot.

Friendly, informative staff who frequently drove through the campground to address any issues and enforce their rules. The not so good points: Expensive for the quality of the site. The campground is poorly designed in terms of slope, drainage, angle of entry, width of sites and placement of utilities and amenities. Sites are very unlevel with slopes into and/or out of the site. It was difficult to maneuver around the boulder at the back and avoid the trees between sites. We had a lot of rain during our stay that turned most of the roads and parking sites into a slippery, rutted mess. The sewer line was a broken PVC pipe covered with a heavy metal cap stamped Water rather than the usual threaded cap. The water spigot was at ground level on a slope so it was covered in mud after the rain. Electric pedestals are shared but the pull through sites do not face opposite directions to allow sharing utilities in the common space between. As a result, one of the sites will have sewer and water on the driver side but electric on the opposite side. Ours was on the correct side but still required 2 lengths of 30 amp cord to reach the pedestal in the neighboring site. The neighbor also required 2 lengths of electric cord because the pedestal was on the wrong side. Really poor design! It would also be helpful if Golden Eagle’s website included their rules for review prior to making a reservation. No concerns for us, but the family that packed up and brought in battery-operated ride on toys for their kids probably would have liked to know in advance that they are prohibited.

Our first visit in our RV. A great family experience. Even though the lake was low, our daughter caught her first fish on her first fishing expedition. Great family getaway with our family dog and grandma!

Paid for one night but packed up and left after sitting around and absorbing the evening “ambiance.” Most of the “RVs” were run-down permanent homes. There were scary dogs and shady people; we did not feel comfortable at all. The final straw was when we observed one of the “residents” making what appeared to be his nightly rummage through the dumpsters. In short, not exactly a vacation destination.

The hole to the sewer was a little janky, but nothing too disruptive to our dumping routine. Wifi is free, but is very slow and very unreliable. No streaming videos are allowed. We had fine AT&T cell service though so used our phone hotspot. Nice and clean laundry facilities. Campground had everything we needed. They opened up a spot for us day of that they normally don't rent out which was super nice and instead of just staying one night, we ended up staying a week! We could have moved to a more shady spot on the camp after the first night, but we stayed put. Friendly staff and great customer service. They don't do weekly rates, just daily or monthly. Pretty rugged and simple campsite, but pretty road to drive on to get there and very accessible to Colorado Springs! We had to hook up and unhook on a small incline which was a little tricky, but I don't think they were all like that across the campground. The most exciting part of this place is the accessibility to miles and miles of trails on site. You can walk to from your RV site and get a legit workout in. You definitely get some elevation gain for sure, especially on Trail 2! It was good to be here to adjust to the elevation. The people around us respected quiet hours and we had no problem bad issues with noise.

Not too bad of a place. Not much grass mostly dirt. The 30 Campground’s are not actually 30 amps they are actually 2 15 amp 115 volt plugs. Luckily I had an adapter. But I was confused when I pulled out my plug to plug my camper in and couldn’t find the 30 amp plug.

No real complaints but rather improvements. First, great level site with tons of room. Not every site was level, but mine was, so that’s all that matters. Staff was very friendly and gave a nice wave whenever they drove by, even swung by after a rain storm to drop off some dry firewood! Thank goodness! Finishing pond was great for kids, the fish were tiny, but at least we caught some! We did one of the hiking trails which led to a high point to overlook the park. The playground had a bunch of big tires and a swing set! What could have made this 5 stars? A fenced in dog park (they did have a walk, but sometimes my dog doesn’t poop on a leash) would be great. Maybe it was my luck but I feel that there weren’t any big fish in the pond. I caught like 10 trout and they were all the size of my hand. Nothing major, but it’s something. Other than that, had a blast, some friends visited and hung out as well. It was very quiet at night as well. Can’t wait to come back again!

Watch your awnings.- Too expensive. Full hookup sites should only be $40, and water/electric should be $30- Some sites appear to share electric hookup, but I could be wrong.- Could use more upkeep. Bathhouses are not in good shape, roads rough, fishing lake is...well recently redone, but could be nice when things grow in.

You feel like you're camping in the woods with deer, turkey and rabbits nearby. Also nearby is an Army base, Fort Carson, where they hold regular ammunition exercises. In researching this location I saw very little mention of this (even on Google reviews), maybe that's because most people stay over the weekends and there's no drills. During the days you can hear gunfire which wasn't an issue for us since it was during the day. Yesterday during the day and all through the night there were huge booms from very large ammunition. So big at times the shock waves rattled the camper. Not the parks fault but I felt it worth mentioning. About the park, nice that it's on a hill for mountain breezes but it ends there. We chose a FHU site (non-deluxe) and we're jammed into a space that took several attempts to get the camper in position - and it was listed as a pull thru spot. No way will we be able to pull through to exit, the drop off at the exit of the site is so steep that we'll risk our Jack's at the back of the camper. So if you really want to stay here - spend the extra bucks on the deluxe so you have a spot you can actually pull through. Sites aren't level, and I mean 3 sections of our level, off. The electric and water are shared. Water, no bidggie. Electric however only has 1 30amp and 1 50amp connection. So if the person next to you checks in first and takes the 50amp, you're stuck with 30. They do have adapters you can borrow with a deposit. There are nice trails around the park for dog walking and the state park is 2 miles up the road for more activities, including mountain bike trails. The park doesn't offer a weekly rate or any discounts whatsoever. Their monthly sites are limited and have been sold out for 2018. There is laundry and 2 bath houses onsite, we didn't use either. WiFi was as you'd expect at an RV park - marginal. The entrance and exit of the park could be tight for large MH with toad. We took the corner wide with our pickup and 35' TT and were fine.
