Made this our stop from camping in Reverends Ridge. Perfect place to regroup. We dumped and filled our tanks, did some laundry and had a great dinner in Idaho Springs. The staff was very friendly. WiFi was perfect. Would stay again.

We made a reservation traveling from Moab Utah and DOT in all their wisdom closed I-70 at exit 87 (flooding? construction? who knows!) sending travelers on a 200+ (you heard me right) detour through winding mountain roads elevating to almost 12000 ft at one point. It was clear half way that were not going to make it to the other side. It was 3pm when we called the campground and while they acknowledged that I-70 does close at times, they refused to refund our money because "you have an open road". We are a senior couple and we were tired and did not want to drive these roads in the dark. We were lucky enough to find a wonderful resort in Granby and called the KOA to tell them we would not make it and again request a refund. They refused again. I asked that the manager, who had left for the day, call me in the morning. I never heard from her. When we left Granby, the last 50 miles back to I-70 was as bad as the first 130 miles and we realized quickly we would not have made it in the dark. I filed a complaint with KOA cooperate the next day and still didn't hear back from the manager. I also have a complaint pending with the BBB. We have been RVing for 30 years and know the cancelation policies better than some of the staff at the places we stay. This was NO FAULT of ours yet this campground took advantage of senior couple who didn't want to risk their safely traveling winding mountain roads in the dark. If you are traveling east on I-70 and you see a sign saying closed, get off before exit 87 and find a place to spend the night. I-70 did reopen the next day. It also closes westbound and your sent on the same detour but I'm not sure at what exit. DO NOT take the detour, especially with an RV. AND......DO NOT GIVE THIS CAMPGROUND ONE CENT UNTIL YOU ARE THROUGH THE GATES!

Nice mountain campground. All full hook-up services worked fine. Wi-Fi worked well. T-Mobile 4G was fast, too. Cable TV had a good selection of channels, including various sports channels in HD.

(Good since cell is a bit spotty/weak) Playground was excellent! Pancakes and pizza were both excellent! Sites were spacious and clean and scenic. The location is a bit out of the way - this is not that close to Denver - 40 min drive but if you want to be out in the mountains it’s lovely. The nearby towns are quirky - this casino city thing was not something we expected. But nearby are hikes, state parks, mountains, gold mines, and general beauty.

Might be a little expensive for what you get, but for the convenience to the highway and ability to get in and out with no fuss, I was ok with the price. The site was level, had convenient locations for all of the hookups including multiple sewage locations in the event your rig has front or rear outlets (or both).

The back-in sites are a bit better than the rest, but everyone is camping in a big, gravel lot. They've improved the "parking lot" vibe by putting in nice cement patios with nice furniture and full-sized grills, but without trees you are right next to your neighbors (I've been closer to my neighbors at other campgrounds, but this was still pretty close). With that said, you can't beat the location. It's right up the hill from Central City, and fairly close to Denver. But if you want that mountain experience, this isn't it.Everyone was very friendly, cell service was great, and they have propane on site. Just choose your site wisely.

Easy access. Very spacious sites with easy maneuvering. Very nice store with friendly staff. Two hot tubs inside (Jacuzzi?). Not great views but nice just the same. Lots of pull throughs.

If you like casinos this is a great place to stay as Black Hawk and Central City are booming with casinos. The road to the campsite is easy enough to get too but is steep. New road exits allow easy access to the KOA without having to drive into Central City. Visit Idaho Springs for a better downtown experience and food (my favorite is Beau Jo’s), Hidee and Argo mine tours are worth checking out.Verizon was the best for data with 20 down and 10 up, AT&T was good with 10 down and 5 up, T-Mobile was usable with solid 20 down but upload was mostly under 1. WiFi was solid and very usable for anything including streaming Netflix except for the occasional evening.

This was a bit different. check in was fine, store has more way gifts than food, or supplies. Nearest store (Safeway) is about 15 Miles away. It's about 8500ft elevation, what has great views of the small mining town which now has casino's...That may be the draw here and also the price justification. Sites were concrete pad, with good electrical, looks like they were just recovering from the snow as there was a big pile of gravel, and heavy equipment. Not really a kid place, more of a place to have access to the casino's IMHO
