The traffic is relentless with the 24/7 droning of semi trucks. We were in the far back with some Tamarisks trees and it helped as a noise buffer. Do not recommend them assigning you just any ol site...They'll put you in the front. They keep a tidy campground here, and are making improvements to the shower house/ bathrooms near our spot #63. Nice people staying here in big RV's and nice enough staff.

But with as easy as their app is to use, we end up staying at KOAs more than anything. This was a quick overnight to refresh tanks and recharge the Jackery after a few nights of lot docking, and our expectations were pretty low…. I mean it’s Barstow. This ended up being one of our favorite KOAs ever. It’s not a huge park, and it doesn’t have a lot of the frills KOAs are known for, but the only amenity we generally use is the dog park, and our pack loved the one here. The privacy of the sites is well above average and the grounds are maintained well. Their propane is right on your way out making it easy to top off before you leave, which we did.

Site mostly dirt with a little sand thrown in. We’re in a van and any of sites T2-6 would have been nicer though no gravel on any of parking spaces. Shower was warm but fairly disgusting. Water was pooling around my feet so I lifted the rubber mat and found literally gobs of matted hair around the drain. We were coming from I 40 at night and the 3 miles to the campground off I 15 are on a really dark road that is windy and difficult to see. Would only stay here again if absolutely necessary.

This is important as it is very hot here. Our site was a pull thru and level. The pool was nice and it had a game room. There is a great diner nearby Peggy Sues. There is also a walkable old mining town close which we didn’t visit as it was 100 degrees at 10 in the morning. Only complaint was the shower room could have been a bit cleaner.

Solid KOA Journey. Decent sites most looked well leveled, gravel. Power was clean, pedestal good hookup. Did not use water/sewer. No real activities/amenities, but all clean and well kept. Restrooms clean. Just fine for an overnite on our trip.

All pull-through sites were taken, so it took me a while to figure out which other sites could fit our truck and AirStream without disconnecting. In the morning, I called the front desk to request a payment over the phone to avoid contact during the COVID times; it turned out it wasn't their standard policy. The lady, however, made an exception and took the payment over the phone. It's an Ok place for an overnight stay. The campground was clean, and we felt safe, which is always a concern for overnight stops.

Overall, a good park with easy freeway access. Good variety of activities and the place can accommodate everything from tents to the big 44' rigs. It's a little noisy with the freeway across the street but it was kinda cool hearing Taps being played at 2200 hrs from the nearby Marine Base.

They have a few sites with 50 amp service and more with 30 amp. Our major problem was that when I called, I asked if they had 50 amp and reserved a 50 amp site. Turns out they did not have any 50 amp sites, they had all been booked for weeks. Our motorhome was having trouble and we couldn't go look for another campground once we got there. They lied to us and it cost us a lot of discomfort. They also moved us 3 times to different sites under the guise that they were 50 amp but they were not. We ended up in a site with no shade at all and no 50 amp service. That means we could only run one air conditioner and the temps were 110F. Not fun. The campground is really trying and I would have been happy with the experience except that they lied to us about the site we were getting. They have a pool that looked really nice. They had an air-conditioned store and main building as well as an air-conditioned room near the pool where people could hang out. They had a little store that had lots of cold drinks and basic supplies.

We did experience some issues with the electricity when trying to run the air conditioning. Park was full so maybe low amperage. $45 seems like a lot for a very basic pull through site. Lots of highway noise.

Would have been nice to have been warned that the water would be shut off at night due to low temperatures. Since it happened the next night to someone else we know, who also was not told in advance, it wasn't as though it was an unexpected emergency measure by the campground staff.

It's located right next to the interstate near an easy off ramp so it's an easy access with nearby fuel stations. It's just down the road from Calico Ghost town and 5 miles from the city of Barstow which is where we had dinner.Check in was uneventful and we were located in a gravel (cinders) pull-through site next to the dump station...not my first choice of sites. I was hoping the site would be a bit longer so I wouldn't have to unhitch for an early morning departure, but no such luck. Our site was not planned very well with the electrical post, cable, and water located toward the front of the site and the sewer outlet was located more toward the back of the site. It was a long reach for the hose and power cord, since our hookups are located near the rear of our trailer. The dog park was close by which our 2 Labrador retrievers were thankful for, although there was nothing but desert out there so they could run anywhere. The owners were adamant about picking up after them though. We didn't use any of the bathrooms, shower facilities or pool so will not comment on those. The freeway noise was constant but we mainly stayed in the trailer at night so it didn't bother us too much. I would stay here again overnight, but certainly not as a destination.
