But more so, he maintains this park as a jewel in the middle of the city. He is a fierce advocate for making sure that parks like this remain available to everyone. He caters to entertainment industry folks, but also to traveling nurses, families in town for medical treatment, as well as nomads like us. Access might very well include using their “valet” service. It is an older park and some of the spaces are close. They prefer parking travel trailers and 5th wheelers. Go ahead and let them. They are absolute pros! We (proudly) travel with a ProPride 3P hitch. I installed my lot bar and off they went. I think it was a first for Steve. They park, level, and hook up your rig. Our only glitch was a faulty 30amp plug, and they had it fixed by morning. The park itself is magical. Hollywood themed, with original artwork, by women artists, throughout. You will hardly notice the air traffic from the nearby airport. After a day here, you won’t care about it!The long term residents here are great, and a good source of information. They provide the character for the park. We like small parks with a lot of character. You will find it here in bushels! The neighbors, hosts, wifi, and cell reception entice you to stay forever. We will return.

This is necessary because at least in the section where we camped in this park, which dates back to the ‘40’s, there isn’t room to back in an attached trailer. I attached my surge protector and got a bad ground reading, so I didn’t hook up electric. Steve immediately responded, couldn’t fix it, connected me via a long extension cord from another site, set up cones on my site for safety, and told me an electrician would come by. That problem was not addressed in the entire week that followed. The Electric worked via the extension cord, but it’s a demerit on an otherwise glowing review that this wasn’t fixed while we were there. It’s also a reminder to use a surge protector and test it before hooking up your rig. We loved the friendly people running this place, the kitschy decorations, the site and the location.

Still we typically did 30-40 minutes of driving to get where we wanted to go. The area has all of what you might need for daily living (groceries, etc) but this isn't a particularly charming part of LA proper. Having said that, we loved this park. Steve and so many of the 'neighbours' were warm and welcoming. We stayed 8 days and for the people alone, we could have stayed longer. The grounds are clean and charming (with all of the murals, statues, cheeky references to Hollywood). Water, electricity, wi-fi, cellular all worked great. The crew will help you with anything that you need. The sites are close together but that is to be expected for an inner city RV park. The only thing that I would say needed improvement is the washroom. They are dated and when I walked in the first time, only one toilet was working. Didn't shower there but my husband did. Said it was fine but the water pressure wasn't great. All in all, if you like people and want to meet some wonderful characters, this is the place to be.

The only negative I would say is we missed our turn into the park b/c GPS was looking for a road, so be on the watch for the entrance. There's a bit of plane noise, but not enough to even be conscience of it. Would definitely stay there again if in the area!

We stayed 2 1/2 months for a travel nursing assignment. Tenants are mostly travel nurses, transplant patients, and people in "the industry" We had a great time and attended a couple of the free events in the clubhouse-performers, canvas painting, etc. Everything is clean and well maintained and while there is street noise-close to the Van Nuys airport-this is urban living. I NEED noise to sleep so I had no issues with it. Steve will do anything he can to help out. It was such a great experience-our first urban RV park and work assignment. I hope to be back for another assignment sometime! Thanks all!

My hubby travels for work. He was sent to LA with a weeks notice. We scrambled to find an RV park to accommodate our RV + his work vehicle. Hollywood RV park is the LA hidden gem. The owner Steve was AMAZING from the minute we arrived. After a long, stressful drive, we arrived. Then we got the biggest SURPRISE - they park your RV for you. Using a forklift, we were parked in an end spot with a cute patio. Yes the sites are tight, but it is in the middle of LA. They do have a parking lot in the back I'm sure you could stay at if you didn't want to be right next to someone else. Everyone was VERY friendly. We met a traveling nurse, a filmmaker, a couple who renovated an old prison bus, and a resident who had been there almost 20 years. They have all the amenities you need - clubhouse, dog run, vending machines, laundry, restrooms. The artwork is unbelievable. Steve had artists come in and paint murals. We loved walking around at night admiring all the art. What a cool, unique experience! Steve made our stay feel like home. HIGHLY recommend Hollywood RV park if you are in the area.

The sites are narrow and close together, but the staff is very helpful in getting your trailer into the site and out again with a forklift. The entire campground is nicely landscaped with lots of trees and some scattered artwork. The trees give enough shade to be comfortable and there is still enough sunlight coming through as well. The facilities are well maintained and clean. The other guests we met were just as friendly as the staff. If we had reason to camp in the LA region again, Balboa would certainly be very high on our list.

We were told that they're turning away about 5 reservation requests per day. When we first stayed here we were able to park ourselves, however, our second stay was a few spots in from the main driveway and they had to tow us in and out of our spot (which limits when you can come and go). There are mostly full time residents here, and the spots are quite close together. So close that if you don't get an end spot the owner has to fork lift you into your campsite. The roads are narrow and jam packed with cars. The best thing about this place is it's location. It's the closest camping we've found to Los Angeles and the monthly rate is pretty reasonable. ($725 for a month - so our nightly average is lower than the actual nightly rate) The wifi works great and the cable is a little fuzzy (I think because we're splitting one connection between 3 trailers. The owner is very nice and people are very forgiving of the cramped quarters because he is working very hard to make improvements. Personally I think he should remove half the spots and get rid of half the full residents and do a renovation and make the park more accessible to those passing through.
